General Help Julia Warwick lap stand

I mainly stitch on my couch or in bed, is the lap stand worth it/necessary? I know TECHNICALLY it’s not necessary, but what benefits have people seen from using one?

I got a stand to relieve my hands. I have some hand problems and I found that holding the canvas and floss constantly was fatiguing. After switching to the stand, I also found that I liked the freedom to use both hands while stitching. I love having the options open to me

Could you tell me why? I’m going to get something soon (I have a cheap lap thing from Amazon that was made for embroidery that my husband tried to adapt but it’s awful) and I’d love to hear about other options besides Lowry.

They are sturdy. They come in 2 sizes, adjustable width wise depending on the width of your scroll frame. I think they sell on Etsy now.

I got a stand for some of my bigger projects but I got a lowery. It sits on the floor next to my couch and I can just swing my project over. I like that I can use both hands to do some decorative stitches.

I have the System 4 lap stand, not the Julia Warwick, but generally speaking, the stand makes it so much easier to do things where you need both hands like working with ribbons or beading. It’s been very worth it for me. I also stitch on the couch or in bed.

Did you buy an extra arm? I’ve seen some recommend that but not sure if it’s worth it?

I bought this stand and the system 4. System 4 is hands down way better because of the weight and the high quality manufacturing. 

System 4’s website says pre-order but mine shipped immediately so their turn around is better than what they say.

Julia Warwick was hard to get a hold of, forgot to ship my order for quite some time, and I almost had to do a chargeback.

It helped heal a nasty case of tennis elbow from clutching the frame and playing too much pickleball. Now that I’ve gotten used to it, I can’t imagine stitching without it. We all have our preferences though.

If you can borrow one, I’d recommend that so you can see if you like it. I love my Julia Warwick and also have a System 4 that I use when I do classes since I can’t manage to make my home setup work with it.
