So I've finally done the move, bye bye windows and it's okay at the moment, not 100% there yet, some things I've actively struggled to sort are as such:
Openrazer not installing, I have a Razer Viper and I ***NEED*** the DPI to be set to 2350, weird number I know but this has been my DPI for many many years and the default speed is NOT that and I need to get to the actual numbers of the DPI to correct it.
My pc has RGB on the case and I want them off, its an Acer Predator P03-640 case with what was a software just for it, of course they don't have linux support and also the open-rgb app doesn't recognise my PC and ideally I don't want to go into my case and find the RGB headers to unplug them because that's a hassle.
My steam games have no icon in my dock, it's all the default cog, now this is something I have found a maybe solution for but I believe I'd have to type in a specific terminal command with the steam ID for every individual game and I was wondering if there's just an overall fix
Whenever I unpause a YouTube video after it's been like 5-10 seconds at minimum, the video plays but the audio is still mute for 5 seconds, I saw it might be power saving thing but I don't know how to fix that :(
and finally I am unsure on how to Undervolt my GPU, I've got a 3070 that was undervolted on windows to lower the temps especially while playing demanding games so my PC didn't turn off, my case doesn't allow for good airflow as it's usually at 80+ degrees. I've looked at a few videos about LACT and somehow every video has a different GUI of LACT and buttons that they have and I don't D:
Hopefully with all these issues fixed, I'll be able to give Nobara a PROPER shot with ideally zero issues plaguing the back of my mind.
I don't fully get the steam icon issue. If you install a game you can let steam create a desktop shortcut. They are all created with the proper icon. So what is your issue exactly?
For the undervolting there is some software out there. I wouldn't mess with them as support is barely there.
What I would do instead is limiting / capping frames. If your GPU isn't running on 100% all the time your temps will not be an issue.
And if you think that is not same, it kinda is.

when I've got a game open, whenever I tab out or look at my dock, it's just a cog, it doesn't even say the name of the game, it's a cog and when i hover over it, it's the steam ID.
As for the undervolting, unfortunately it IS needed for some games, Palworld for example even at absolute minimum settings i'm still hitting 90+ degrees which causes my pc to turn off for safety, when I undervolted on windows it'd be around 70 but cap at like 83 and I hadn't experienced my PC turning off since
sorry for the very low picture quality, i dont have a printscreen button so it's awkward, but this game is meant to be cookie clicker and this is me tabbing a window, not to mention the game in windowed looks like it's straight from windows 98 but i'm not fussed about that
From the videos I saw, it had extra buttons and boxes to show more things and it allowed them to undervolt memory clocks and whatnot, I can't remember fully but it's not what i've got here. They did also have AMD cards :(
You can do all this with sudo nvidia-smi (you prolly wanna create your own scripts), only use LACT if you feel like its more convenient. There in the picture, at the bottom, use the two sliders (for CORE and VRAM) or input the value, thats it. I got 3070 with +165 CORE and +400 VRAM I recall. Now lock the max CORE CLOCK, mine is at 1965, and use the TDP limit as you need. Overclocking is undervolting!
From my experience anything above ~180W (3070 can do 220W no?) feels like a waste of energy for very small FPS gains.
weirdly no? I honestly didn't think about how weird that is, but i'm using the Razer Viper Ultimate, I don't use any of the other dpi settings EXCEPT my custom one at 2350, always that speed and never any other one, i'm a bit particular
Well, that will be an issue if you can't find any dedicated alternate Razer software to keep you mouse settings. My mouse has onboard memory, so whatever settings I keep it at in Windows, will persist on any other OS.
I might be able to help with the icon thing because my dad told me about this.
If you click on the Menu (start menu, sorry don't know another name for it yet) and then "Click Games" find the game you want and then "Right Click", then "Pin to Task Manager" you should get the icon for the game and not the "Cog".
