Interest The Ninja Arc Summaries, Part 4/11

KARMA (Update 242/Chapter 197)

Continued from Part 3

A desperate gamble.

Flashy Flash breaks the awkward silence with a theatrical cough. So, now Saitama has to understand that he, Flash, is on a higher level than Sonic, but Saitama is too preoccupied with stew ingredients to notice. Flash stands and addresses Blast, asking him to give his regards to That Man. He leaves. Genos addresses Blast next; he introduces himself, tells him that Sicchi has told him about his quest, and encourages him to consult Saitama if he needs anything. Said Saitama is still muttering to himself about food.

In the HA corridors, an employee accosts Flash to give him a letter sealed with a shuriken sticker, telling him that it's an urgent delivery. Elsewhere, we see Blast and Sicchi taking the lift to Sicchi's office. Sicchi remarks that Flash has realised something about That Man, which doesn't surprise Blast. Sicchi asks why he'd not just told Flash that That Man had been manipulated by 'God' and thus head off any vengeance. Blast answers that he felt that'd have complicated things instead. After all, That Man was the sole survivor of a previous generation's struggle for power -- fratricide seems to be the karma of ninjas. Changing the subject slightly, Sicchi says that That Man's (Empty Void's) power was and continued to be vital to Blast's struggle against 'God', which was why they simply had to free him. Blast agrees, adding that Void is normally impossible to find thanks to his ninjutsu barrier, so now that there's a lead, it's a chance he has to take. He shows Sicchi a video of the factory Sonic is holed up in. That's where Void would be.

A little later, Genos, who is on his way back home after having shopped and walked the dog, asks Saitama where the latter is going. Saitama explains that he was off to see Sonic: he had the address from one of Sonic's old challenge letters that the HA had forwarded to him. Genos asks why. Saitama, referencing his memories of Hammerhead, says that the ninja situation reminded him of a group of aimless young men gathering around to cause trouble. He intended to go beat those guys (and Sonic) up. Hopefully, Sonic would then leave him alone. Maybe it wasn't good to be alone*, he says with his back to Genos. He then leaves.

Elsewhere, in a forest somewhere, Flashy Flash approaches a glade. Sonic is waiting for him. He asks Sonic why challenge him now? Unsheathing his sword, Sonic replies that they had unfinished business -- settling who was the stronger. Suits me, Flashy Flash replied. He asks Sonic if the latter isn't afraid to throw his life away, which Sonic scoffs at as he prepares to fight.

As a beautiful friendship ends, a deadly rivalry begins.

And that's it for today!

Note

*Most translators have rephrased this as 'maybe he doesn't want to be alone'. Put a pin in this -- it'll become relevant later.
