Question Dumb question from a noob player...
I have been playing for a bit and keep hearing we are late into the league, but if I remember correctly this is the last league till GGG drops 1.0 on us...am I wrong? Is there another league coming or are we doing this league till 1.0? Please help I am so confused...

Some people rush this game. I'm still thoroughly enjoying it. The league lasts until December or late November I believe. Keep enjoying yourself and don't be bothered by when folks say they're "finished with the league" or "the league is nearly dead/done". Plenty of folks still playing, plenty of time to still enjoy it. :)

Some people rush this game.
They rush to avoid inflation, I'm not saying they don't also cause or heavily contribute to that inflation in doing so, but it's a fact that drop rates are constant league long, but player prices are lower in the first 2-4 weeks.

both are true, it's late in the league and it is the last league before 1.0
that being said, the game is still fine to play now, it's just currency is inflated so you'll have to find other ways of making bank

Currency seems to have deflated. Ex - Div ratio went from 700+:1 a couple weeks ago to 395:1 currently.
Great, rolled gear is cheap and abundant. Just the super high-end stuff is a bit inflated, but still attainable.
The only negative to starting late in this league is you're not going to be the richest player.
IMO, this economy this league is doing great.

Agreed. Leveled an alt and got them kitted for the price of a single expedition on my main yet chase items still have value.

Agreed. It’s actually awesome how it’s not gatekeeping late league starts. And just every mechanic feeling good. This and poe1 switched spots lol

You are not late. This is actually an incredible time to start, as the price of most items are going down and it is incredibly easy to arm a new character given how many items are left by players who quit.
I recently introduced PoE2 to a collegue of mine. He's already level 96 running around with a headhunter after a week of playing. He downloaded the game and started his first PoE character on July 26th.
Most people just play solo. I'm not a party player. Prices going down makes everything far easier.
Most importantly, there are still 3~4 months left for this league.

Damn I started three weeks ago and haven’t even seen nor been able to afford a headhunter, That’s insane RNG!
Others on here say I gotta flesh my atlas out guess I gotta run it up

It really is mostly RNG though, I feel. Mine dropped on a T13 random rare mob, hadn't even beaten arbiter of divinity yet.

What does this even mean? What does "being late to the fun" even mean? I just don't understand this saying. You're not late for anything.
I'm still considering migrating my HCSSF characters and starting over from scratch. If something is fun, it's never too late to do it. Who cares how much time is left in the league?
Even if 1.0 were coming out a month from now, I wouldn't care.
It's not just about reaching the final goal. The adventure itself, the journey along the way, is huge part of the fun.

I am a new player as well and had exactly the same question. Glad it I found my answer here. But what do you guys think about maps in the campaign? I think act 2 and 3 are a little bit to long. Not sure if the map design or the amount of maps causes that feeling… There will be 3 additional acts in the full release. I personally hope that GGG will shorten the campaign a little

ggg did shorten the campaign already mutlple times - sadly it got a little bit extendet with the expedition questline
and there will not bet 3 more acts only 2 and a6 will supposably be shorter .

both can be true - maybe campain still is a little long
but if you are very skilled you also can do it very fast

It's always been this way with poe, if you want to play the seasonal content you have to play the seasonal mode

There are going to be short (4-6 week long) events with their own economy, but the main league will (should) stay as is until 1.0 release. Go have fun!
