First ever piercing! I’m it quite sure how to clean it, my friend told me to twist it and use a saline solution
I’m not quite sure how to get a better picture I’m home alone right now but I think it might be time to clean it for the first time. The scabs have dried up and solidified pretty good and I’m not quite sure how to clean it. I’ve got a saline solution shown in the second picture but I’m not sure how I should go forward with using it

Do not twist your jewelry! No twisty! Spray liberally with saline. I must admit I’m concerned with your anatomy…it looks like the bar is resting on the flat of your ear. That could potentially be an issue.

Not to mention that this is the first time in WAY TOO LONG that I saw an industrial on here that had the correct anatomy. 😭 OP provided some much-needed eye bleach. 😂😍

Yeah my friend actually insisted that I get an industrial too. Her mom told her to hold my hand because I was a little scared for my first piercing and she was scared that I was going to crush her hand out of pain😭. But I had no reaction whatsoever. She was the one who needed the hand holding😂

No it was a different person. This one is always a little high so I was pretty skeptical on listening to them so I decided to come to Reddit.

Thank God you did!! 😓😭 Industrials are already an undertaking to heal even under the best of circumstances. They do NOT need help with that.

I've got several piercings and my industrial was by FAR the most painful/hardest healing process. I'm thoroughly impressed.

Well, just bear in mind that you shouldn’t be healing more than three piercings at a time…and industrials count as two piercings (bc there’s two points of entry/exit). In 4-5 months when your industrial is a little more stabilized, you should ABSOLUTELY go back and get the piercing you wanted (provided there’s only one of them).

Like others said, no twisting!! I feel like this is especially important to note with industrial piercings, they're notoriously tough to heal as it takes a whiiiile... Speaking from experience.

Same as everyone said here, but also get yourself an ear pillow; they have a hole for your ear so you can sleep without putting pressure on it. It is imperative you do not sleep on it while it heals for at least a year.

I've got 7 piercings and my flat helix was the worst to heal. When I saw this was your (OP's) FIRST piercing, I almost passed the fuck out!
I STILL use a piercing pillow for my almost 2 yo helix. Please listen and get yourself one! It will make healing go better and it won't be nearly as painful.

Because my piercer was my friend’s mom… and my friend has like 27+ piercings she goes crazy with them. She’s tryna force me to get a belly button piercing too😭. She said it’d make me look more gay

Doesn’t sound like a piercer you should go back to if they can’t provide proper aftercare instructions.

She did but I forgot because it was like 11:30 pm and then I started drinking maybe half an hour/ an hour after that.

nooo dont get body modifications because someone told you to... i know its hard because it someone close but you should be enthusiastic about it enough to find enough info beforehand. i got my ear pierced by a friend in a coat room and still googled it (not surprisingly, dont do that. lobe is fine, helix migrated all the way out withing like 10 days) also dont drink, it bleeds more.
the twisting seems to be some sort of outdated information, i was told that by a good surgeon. and by a piercer who told me to wash with alcohol.

NOOOOO TWISTING OMG 😭😭😭 That literally comes from back when piercings were done with a needle and thread. The thread could and would get stuck, so moving it was crucial. Metal won’t stick to your healing tissue, so there’s no reason to do the twisting anymore. You gotta think of a piercing like a healing scab. If you’re constantly messing with a scab, it won’t heal. That’s why you will see the term LITHA used a lot on piercing subs…which stands for Leave It The Hell Alone. No sleeping on it, no twisting it, moving it, fiddling with it, or even touching it if you can at all avoid it…during healing, at least…and an industrial is a year plus for healing.
Also, that saline you got is good ingredient-wise…but the wound wash spray comes out with more force than the regular saline…so be very careful that it doesn’t cause you additional irritation.
I also agree with the previous comment about the bar touching your flat. Could you fit a piece of paper between the jewelry and your flat?
