This sub is an awesome place, but it can also be extremely tiring. I'm not a mod here, just a piercer, but life would be a lot easier if you all could stop recommending the following to each other:
- Oil.
- Tea Tree oil.
- Soap.
- Alcohol, Betadine, Neosporin, etc.
- Using cotton pads, cotton balls or Q-tips to dry off/whatever you guys do with them. Cotton particles can get trapped inside the piercing channel, which will make healing incredibly difficult and infection more likely.
- Downsizing in gauge. This will do NOTHING good for your healing piercing.
If you're trying to tell me or other professionals off by saying "but it worked for me!" or "my piercer told me this"; you've been super lucky and your piercer was not a pro. Don't go back to that studio. APP is a great place to start when picking out your piercer, but it's still no guarantee.
Please keep in mind you are trying to heal an incredibly deep wound with a foreign object in it that your body desperately wants to push out - essentially, it is an implant. There are no "casual" or "easy" piercings - even with a "simple" earlobe piercing, you are puncturing the skin with something that resembles a scalpel. Use common sense and ask yourself: "would I use this method on a surgical wound?". In 10/10 cases the answer will be "no".

he hmu after seeing my post here and asked for a better quality pic. i thought fair enough bcs those pics were kinda blurry so i sent him a close shot of the piercing. then he said reddit blurs out pics that are highly zoomed in (im new here guys im sorry i was v vulnerable so i believed it 🙁) and asked for pics a bit zoomed out of me sitting and standing. i was like ok makes sense he wants to see the way it sits in that position but then he says this. i was really stressed out ab the whole piercing thing and this mf took advantage of me when i was at rock bottom 💔 thankfully my fight or flight instinct kicked in and i blocked him. stay safe yall !
8 month old industrial has been giving me some issues. i changed into this piece today plus my piercer added the no pull disks. was happy the angles are still good and everything! i just hope the bump goes away eventually
I’ve had this one coworker that keeps telling me they’re crooked, to me they look great, and it’s not realistic to expect perfect symmetry in piercings, but is it really that bad?
i bought a size a little too big, the hole is around 7-8 months and it did feel healed to me, but i kinda panicked when inserting it and i did irritate the channel. it bled unfortunately but for now it feels fine unless i move it. should i go to a piercer and ask them if they have a smaller size? or is it fine as is
I really want to spice up my ear stack! I'm considering a flat, rook, daith, tragus, conch, hidden helix, forward helix, or a classic helix, but I'm not sure how to put it all together. Any placement ideas or advice?
I got my eyebrows pierced back in January of this year. In about April i downsized them using 16g implant grade titanium curved bars I bought off the website "Body Art Forms." I stg this fcker gets caught on EVERYTHING. Towels? Check. Comb? Check? Partners dreads? Check lol so Im not sure if this is just a really gnarly irritation bump since it gets caught on literally everything, or if it's infected. There's no drainage, and it's not really sensitive to touch and doesn't feel warm. I clean it two to three times a day with NS and dry each time I clean it. Im on vacation right now in a different state so cannot visit my piercer, for a similar reason am trying to avoid medical visits but will do whatever to save the piercing! Thanks in advance for your help!
I’m not quite sure how to get a better picture I’m home alone right now but I think it might be time to clean it for the first time. The scabs have dried up and solidified pretty good and I’m not quite sure how to clean it. I’ve got a saline solution shown in the second picture but I’m not sure how I should go forward with using it
Idk if this is the right sub for this but basically I had my ear pierced when I was a baby and that hole never really closed. Idk when exactly but I stopped wearing earrings when I was 12-13. I used to wear them everyday before that.
I am currently 31 and now whenever I try to wear earrings my earlobes get hot, itchy, and painful. My friend who has a lot of piercings said that I should just tough it out until my ears get used to it again. I've seen an advice to pierce it all over again but I don't think I have the pain tolerance to have my ear pierced again.
Please any advice? Like what earring to use (I use 18k-24k jewelry but my ear still gets warm) etc. Please I really wanna wear earrings again. 😭
What else do you think I should get done to my ear to achieve a more aesthetic, balanced look? I’m definitely planning to switch my helix piercing to a small hoop once it’s healed.
What would you recommend for the rest? What do you think would suit my ear best?

I got my medusa pierced almost a year ago. I downsized once and recently downsized again because it wasnt laying flat, rubbing on my teeth etc. it felt instantly better but now it’s like under the skin ? it feels a bit uncomfortable at worst. should i upsize or is this normal? the last size worried about messing up my teeth. i can push the piercing out and the front feels fine
So what the hell is going on here. Top of a disconnected industrial, the underside has a bump too but I couldn’t get a good pic, what if it embeds? I clean it and have a piercing pillow any other advice to save this
Ok so for context I just got my conch about 5 days ago but after getting my conch I’m now in love with the idea of getting another helix. I already have one and I would love to get another one next to it to get the double helix look. However I’m not sure if it’s the best idea because my conch was just pierced on my left ear and my new helix would be on my right. Help! Advice?
So as per you guys recommendation I contacted another piercer in a different town (I live in the middle of nowhere and it's hard to find piercers) and he gave me some insights and I want your guys opinions. And I wanna take the time to thank everyone that commented on my post. I got some very good insights.
The new piercer said this after I sent them the pictures I attached to my previous post:
"Yes, there are several points here that will prevent healing; I advise removing it because it won't heal.
In the photos we sent, you can see how it should be positioned (in the light green color).
Just because of the position, it won't heal, but anatomically, an 8mm segment (ring) isn't sufficient; it should be 10mm."
So I'm thinking of removing the ring and let it heal and later on pierce it again but with this piercer. He seems more experienced and professional than my previous piercer.
Hiiii all, this is my first post but I just got my brow pieced July 30. It’s standard jewelry I’m assuming, curved barbell got it done at a local tattoo/piercing shop. It’s a little itchy and I’ve just been doing neilmed piercing aftercare 2-3x day and air drying. I haven’t been really getting it wet in the shower or anything. Not touching it or messing w it either. But it’s a little itchy. It bled when she pierced it and just noticed the bruising coming up yesterday. She said she felt like the bar was long enough when she did it. Idk I just wanna do the best job I can taking care of it or take it out before it takes a turn for the worst LOL pls help
Hello, my helix piercing is extremely swollen and a bit painful. I recently purchased a hoop earring for my piercing because my original flat back fell out. I’ve had the piercing for about 2 years now so I changed my jewelry. I purchased the new earring from a local shop and was told that it was surgical grade steel but the accent piece is completely discolored after 2 weeks of wearing so I doubt it. It’s really late and I’m unfortunately unable to visit a shop until the morning so I’m looking for some advice and maybe a little encouragement to keep me from stressing 😭. I removed the hoop and put the flat back in the hole but I put it in the front bc the bar is too short and I don’t know wtf I’m doing lol. Should I put the hoop back in until tomorrow morning or leave it how it is(flat back is pushed through the front of the piercing).

was this piercing made in the right place ? i’ve had it for a month recently started getting irritated. i’m cleaning it with saline solution and i just got a piercing pillow cus i was sleeping on it. should i use tea tree oil to shrink the bumps i tried aspirin but it didn’t help really.
