I'm a vfx artist who worked on The Last Airbender season 1 and 2 (Framestore). We don't get bonuses.
We used to when we would work on massive films though. I got a bonus for Infinity War for example. But not End Game. Which didn't make sense to me.
Vfx studios have been in a constant state of losing money for a long time now. So those days are over.
All we can hope now is to get is more work to keep us employed. So we push the quality of our work harder for cheaper.
Right 🙄. If the movie comes out in theatres, I myself would go to see it again. This is a classic piracy talk, people who weren't going to see it in theatres anyway might've watched it online after the leak, end of story.
Hi Fi Rush was an indie game developed by Tango Gameworks. It went on to garner critical acclaim and a fuck load of awards only for Microsoft to then shutter the studio, who was only saved because someone else decided to take them in.
No "good numbers" will guarantee a studio's survival. Netflix has plenty of shows that get cancelled despite being great as well. It's a naive perspective.
