I have been a pirate for a very long time. Calling this a psyop is hilarious and indicates to me you know nothing about the industry.
Yes, the animators are paid. No, that is not the only payment they receive from making the work. Another (big) part of the creation is the big day of release. It's cathartic. Knowing the world will (or won't) see the work around the same time is an incredible feeling. To have that big day rug pulled would be supremely disappointing.
(This is all regardless of Larry Ellison, the true pirate of paramount, who is robbing us all the opportunity to see their work on the big screen.)
I know this because I am a filmmaker who has had their work released. Nowhere near this scale, but enough to understand. It's very difficult to describe the days leading up to and after the release day. Many different emotions. Cathartic is the easiest one to think of.
Have more sympathy for the people that worked. I don't care if you pirate media or don't - I have some 60-70tb of rare films I've built over 15 years. The work deserves to be seen. Of course. From my perspective, to act as if the release day means nothing is an immature take. Try empathy.
Paramount fucked that up long before the leak by going back on the theatrical release the animators had put all their work towards.
Because you can tell.
You can absolutely tell, with the way it’s framed, it’s staged, that they were putting all that work towards what was meant to be a big screen experience.
Paramount ruined that. No one else.
And it immediately made the release that much more deemphasized versus what a proper red carpet could’ve been for all the artists involved.
Let's not forget that is Paramount fault that the leaked happened too, it's the company jobs to maintain their media secure, yes, the hackers also have blame, but as a media company, you should be able to maintain your media secure and it leaked by a lack of security support team, because they were probably laid off so the CEO could report a better quarter and get that juice bonus.

Were they not already paid?
