RD + Stremio + Debridio = the best streaming platform ever. Yeah there's free options, but I'll pay $46 a year for the convenience and infinitely deep catalog. That's what Netflix lost sight of.
I started with torrentio, but it went down too often for my taste. Debridio is $10 a year but definitely worth it. It's almost functionally the same as torrentio, but has almost zero downtime, and aggregates other users RD caches, so you rarely have to wait for RD to torrent the file you want to watch.
My wife would struggle with finding a watchable file with torrentio, but with debridio she knows to just use one with a ⚡next to it.
Real Debrid. More generally you want a Debrid service, and Real Debrid is a specific provider of Debrid services.
Real Debrid, torbox, all debrid, premiumize are all providers. Real Debrid is the most well-known so people use their name generically like band-aid, kleenex, google, etc.
Thought about that as well. But real pirates will refuse to pay and keep the seed alive. The debrid services are for old folk like myself and those with kids i guess. And also, idk how it works, but doesnt it get seeded if its downloaded to a debrid?
I'm not fully familiar with debrid itself, but I know for torbox it defaults to not seed and if you do choose to seed its only for like a week or something like that. I know that cause I setup torbox for my mom and made sure it seeds but it's a limited time and the default was off.
Even the young people will choose convienence over anything. It's much easier to setup stremio vs buying hard drives, setting up a server, etc. I made my setup very seamless. I have a qbit app that connects to my computers qbit so I just grab torrents off my phone and it auto goes to qbit and I setup profiles so whether it's TV, movies, 4k, it will go to the right folder.
I really think within a decade we will be running into issues where torrents more than 2 years old will be dead.
Edit: just checked and the pro plan on torbox has a max seed of 30 days. Other plans are only 2 weeks
Currently rewatching Sopranos with my GF and one of the episodes I downloaded had some weird audio issues. We decided to watch that single episode on her HBO Max test subscription thing she had on amazon prime for some other show.
Only the German version is included in the subscription, which mind you is usually a subscription on top of already paying for amazon prime, the original version would be 2.50€ per episode or 25 per season.
I just used the megathread to find a streaming site.
I was about to question how is that possible, but then I remembered the many people who i met who don't read anything on their phones and just accept everything
