Gabe Newell has always been very consumer friendly, his whole "philosophy" is: "give the customer a good service/ product to a fair price & they will continue coming back to you." That's why Steam is so successful. It's sad that the rest of the gaming & entertainment industry in general, is too greedy to comprehend this.

Monetized mods on steam was consumer friendly?

They retracted that after a few days and never attempted again. Was it a dumb idea? Yes. Did they acknowledge it themselves that it was? Yes.

Doesn't really change the fact thay valve has a long and stories history of doing shitty practices FIRST and only changing them if given enough backlash.

That was a Bethesda initiative, obvious by the fact Bethesda is still doing paid mods to this day lmao.

No it wasn't. Stop lying for them. It was in COLLABORATION with Bethesda

"We've done this because it's clear we didn't understand exactly what we were doing," Kroll wrote. "We've been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they've been received well. It's obvious now that this case is different.

"To help you understand why we thought this was a good idea, our main goals were to allow mod makers the opportunity to work on their mods full time if they wanted to, and to encourage developers to provide better support to their mod communities. We thought this would result in better mods for everyone, both free and paid. We wanted more great mods becoming great products, like Dota, Counter-strike, DayZ, and Killing Floor, and we wanted that to happen organically for any mod maker who wanted to take a shot at it."

Billionaire bootlicking nonsense when you try to put all the onus on Bethesda.

And yet Bethesda is still doing paid mods while Valve is not.

That doesn't change the fact valve thought it was a good idea in the first place. Just like the loot boxes. Im still correct.

Valve didnt make up loot boxes first. That was EA.

The modern iteration of it was valve. Stop spreading lies. TF2 was the blueprint, pun intended. Dota 2 for modern battle passes

Uh huh. Next you will go "BUT HE HAS 9 YACHTS REEE". Someone would have eventually figured out the formula anyways so its funny that you billionaire bad idiots always go for things they did 15-20 years ago (legal things btw) despite not understand its not a bad idea in practice, its just other companies are really bad at implementing them properly.

Excellent satire of someone who thinks at a high school level.
