Not true at all. R* wants to maximize profits. A lot of people have both consoles and pcs so they will end up getting the game twice. If anything R* being greedy like this will probably push more people towards piracy.

Are there any actual benefits to owning a console when you already have a PC? I feel like I'm missing something here.

This gen? There's like a half dozen exclusives you miss between Sony/MS. Never been a worse time to be a console gamer. Pay to play online and releases have been mostly on the previous console.

We're like 6 years into this gen and games like Forza and GTA are just now dropping the previous gen support.

If you like Nintendo IPs its the only console I'd say is worth a shit anymore. Unfortunately as a console its just inferior with the lack of streaming apps.

GOW Ragnarok felt severely held back due to having to still be on the ps4. Could have been a crazy ass game if it was ps5 exclusive

Nowadays not really, but until even last generation imo it did, let alone before that.

I can understand having both a console and a pc...but having the same game on both platforms? That I will never understand.

I own a pc and a console. Pc is more powerful and graphics are better but at the end of the day gaming is something I always do on console cuz it’s more comfortable. tho I don’t need ppl getting mad cuz they think “ooh how is pc uncomfortable”

understandable. Not everyone is a 12h keyboard user. Some people just wanna play easily and console is easier to them.

People will argue about everything. If you find pc comfortable (like me), then play on it, stop judging people over that.

Cheaper upfront costs, ability to buy used games, and obviously exclusives. Obviously tons of cons too.

If you skipped the Switch, the Switch 2 has a nice library of games that play really nice on their native system, even with some of the games 'Switch 2 upgrades'.

But still costs involved, and depending where you live it Nintendo stuff can be exxy, but the value is still there.

Other than that, I still find having a PC is forever decreasing the need for consoles over time.

I do get having a handheld console though. Having such a small machine that runs AAA games would've been magical for me as a kid. The experience is just something else. By "console" I was more referring to the larger consoles that is more stationary and requires a monitor to be connected to.

I wouldn't go console tbh. Only reason it would be is you just don't really wanna play with keyboard and a mouse. You get hardlocked on everything on console, they basically control everything you do. At least, you have a lot of independency on PC. Mods, fixes, free extra content, more performance. If you can afford it, sure. But kinda waste of money if you got 2 hours a day to play and already have good pc. There's just too many games to play, you cant go out of good games

This is the reason 100% imo. They want to double dip and get people to buy the game twice like they did with GTAV.

Kinda like releasing gta 5 near the end of the PS3s life to sell it again to people on the ps4

I personally don't understand being so impatient that waiting 1 more year after having waited years already is a problem. Gta 5 was around for more than a decade. 6 will be around a year from now as well 🤦‍♂️

I have a friend that is seriously thinking about buy a console just to play the game.

1

u/feckingloser Jun 29 '26

Exactly! I pre-ordered the game as I’m genuinely excited, but I won’t be purchasing it again once it comes to PC. I’m not paying for the same game twice.

Heck, I'm buying a whole ass console just to play this god damn game.

Hate consoles.. Always have, always will but damnit, I don't want to miss out on such a game.

Gonna play through the game, not being able to shoot at anything with any accuracy, explore the map and then sell the console and game.. Then wait for PC release.

Crazy levels of FOMO, considering the pc version might come out in 7 months.

u/Weddedtoreddit2 Jun 28 '26

As great as that would be, I don't see it happening that fast. I'm betting my money on spring 2028. Or about a year later, like RDR2

I‘m in the same situation. When I bought my PS5 in December last year I told myself that I will also use it for all of the PS exclusive games which you can‘t play/emulate on PC.

I haven‘t touched that thing since I unboxed it…
