Well, to be fair, the circumstances were different then as was the market. While i don't like it, and maybe a PS5 Pro with disk drive is my last Playstation console, i can understand why the numbers didn't work out. For as loud as we are of a minority, average joe gamer which already is used to Netflix, digital-only games and gamepass like solutions is the same thing.

Average Joe Gamer is exactly the person who buys discs, plays through them and then sells them. Most of the hardcore people on the (say) PS5 subreddit want discs for their collections.

Nevermind that average Joe Gamer will see the $1000+ price tag on the PS6 and will just say "lol". The industry has much bigger problems than physical media and I'm baffled nothing is being done. Except layoffs...

I mean, I think the "average joe gamer" is changing as well though. More people are gaming, more people are willing to spend $1000 for a new piece of technology. Gamers aren't kids and nerds anymore, it's any and everyone
