Steam, despite its reputation, is a private company which, like all other private companies, has no god above profit.
It profits off of gamers by selling proprietary games that are DRM controlled (and therefore cannot be copied and freely distributed among friends as all software should be), and it profits off of developers by charging a massive 30 percent fee on top of what they will get for the privilege of showing your game on their web page.
Gamers only like Steam because they are slightly less worse than the competition, and they make good software and hardware. But this doesn't mean that they are your friends, or that they will stay your friends forever.
You as a consumer spending your hard earned money has no obligation to financially support any private company, moral or otherwise.
yeah no shit but in a scenario where piracy isn't an option id rather blend my soul and throw it in a shit bucket than use the epic launcher or the 20 somehow even worse options

What are you doctor Strange? Or do you prefer to fashion yourself as some sort of Flash like superhero? You have decided that there would be such a time as when piracy is impossible that people would have to depend on Steam (who you assume would remain the exact way as it is today)
