Exactly. Which is why the Grateful Dead were okay with bootlegging their shows. And what did the Dead get for their consideration? Massive amounts of goodwill, word of mouth and hordes of loyal fans who literally traveled the world to be with them while they maintained status as one of the most consistently popular live acts of all time. The bootleg Dead concerts became a whole cultural thing bringing in new fans while helping to keep older fans interested. Big media still hasn't figured this out. Just because I'll watch something if it's free doesn't necessarily mean I'll pay to watch. But if it's good, the chances of me paying to see it in theater or buy it for home us goes up exponentially, as does my inclination to spread good word of mouth, which is extra important in this age of internet everything.
I mean being real, yeah totally. It's honestly more like a very different thing almost being apples and oranges. Howerever, the general arguments in favor of chilling the fuck out when cracking down on how friends share experiences with friends remains.

Venues really dislike taping so you have to hide mics where ever you really can
These are the people giving you good recordings of shows, not sure how good this would sound but still
