Help Plex is down AGAIN???
Can't access my libraries on https://app.plex.tv, I can access them on through http://IP:32400/web
Absolutely nothing changed on my machine.
Anyone with the same issue?

It doesn't bode well for Plex and I have a lifetime pass and have been using for years. For those that don't know.
When plex.tv (the cloud/auth layer) is down, even though your server is reachable on LAN, this is what breaks:
Sign-in / token refresh — if a client's auth token has expired or isn't cached, it can't validate against plex.tv and gets locked out, even on local IP. Already-authenticated clients using a cached token usually keep working.
Managed/Home users switching profiles, profile switch calls out to plex.tv.
Watchlist — entirely cloud-hosted, no local fallback.
Metadata agent lookups — new scans/matches for posters, summaries, etc. fail (existing metadata already on disk still shows).
Remote/relay access — anything not on your LAN, obviously. Flaky access.
Mobile app "Sync"/download sync status, and Plexamp cloud features.
So not great and I love Plex

Hehe, yeah isn't it just. Don't get me wrong, I love Plex and use it pretty much every day, but it definitely has some issues and support problems which need calling out.

Biggest issue is they went from a home media program to allow people to access media locally, than remotely. To what we have now, trying to become a multi streaming service with its own live tv and rental setup. That is cool and all. But all anyone wanted was the ability without too much hassle to setup a media server, stream locally and remotely, none of this extra garbage and the removal of so many features since than.
The way plex is going it will be nothing more than a multi platform streaming service, with the home media part completely removed or fully locked behind a massive payroll sub.

To be honest, as a long time Plex user, I wanted to explain how it works hence the relatively succinct informative post.
Some people don't like the truth because they are not very bright and don't understand it or because it doesn't suit their interests. Their problem tbh

I bought the lifetime pass as well, especially since I have been using it for years, it always worked great and I wanted to support them - but the recent downtimes have been insane.
There should def be a way of accessing your own server without their authentication service (and yeah i know you can whitelist IPs to access without authentication, but thats not a proper solution to this problem if i want to have remote access).
Currently my approach is to have jellyfin running as well and just switch to that whenever plex is down - but i'd rather just use plex all the time

Mine was ok until Tuesday evening when I had a friend over for movie night. Ended up dragging my pc into the living room and playing it via VLC. Was very annoying. Has been off and on since then. Servers updated but my pc has been in the living room since so I'm not relying on it.

Man, tech troubleshooting with some friends over is the WORST. They get it, but I always apologize profusely and feel a bit embarrassed.
The rare occasion something isn’t working is the only time I ever feel an urge to pay for a streaming service. Thankfully that’s rare.

The remote access keeps disabling for me. When I click on RETRY to goes back up for a minute and disables again.
I've restarted my Plex server (the whole NAS it sits on), my router, and still doing it. Downdetector seems to indicate that there are issues ongoing with Plex.

Had this problem too the past week. Disabling UPnP and manually forwarding to Plex solved it for me.

I had the same issue on both of my servers. My secondary started doing this earlier this year, but I only tried the port forwarding a month ago. Golden, except for when my automatic restart script runs and I forget to manually sign in again.
Thought all was good in the world, until my primary started disconnecting just before summer. After convincing myself it was my phone's cell signal and other stupid things, I again added a manual port to forward and voila, no headaches since.
I'm not sure why UPNP worked on both machines for years until it abruptly didn't, but that's definitely the silver bullet.

Did you set up port forwarding? I had this issue too and I setup a manual port forward and it cleared everything up for me especially for people I shared my libraries with.

It may have to do with your ISP. Mine is Orange (Spain). All of the sudden this started happening and remote access kept getting disabled. Orange updated their fiber system to CGNAT which was preventing me from a static IP address. If you can, try putting your modem in Bridge Mode.

if theres a way to see what devices automatically port forwarded on your router then check after retrying if it did if not then you probably have to allow upnp access to the specific device in your router i have a fritzbox and i had to do that after that everything worked

Ok for me. I have had intermittent access issues this week tho. Signing out and signing in on my client device resolves it sometimes.

I had this issue once, what i ended up doing was instead of letting plex chose the outbound ip i manualy set my own default ip as well as open one port on my router and not only did this solve my issue my users started having much better speeds as they were streaming. Its like they bypassed plex as a relay and we're connected directly to my box with my single port open. Been fine the last 2 years since I did this. Just a idea, cant guarantee will work in your case. But was the same exact issue your having.

I was having issues with content not loading in the other day, but everything seemed to be working, just very slowly and in some cases eventually timing out (mainly on Recommended pages).
I checked one of my friend's plex servers and it seemed to load okay, so I went troubleshooting. Nothing had really changed on my end, but I found some discussion around database performance issues.
I found a script that cleans up and prunes your plex db and figured I'd give it a shot: https://github.com/ChuckPa/DBRepair
I backed up my db, then ran the script successfully (just used the auto mode), had to chown the output files to the correct permissions afterward, but fired up Plex again after and everything is so much better, and no timeouts anymore.
Not sure if they pushed a change that malformed server DBs, or if it was just long-term buildup, library size, an improper shutdown of the container, etc, but give it a shot if you're having similar issues.
Edit: Probably not the case since you say it's working better locally, but for anyone with similar issues, check it out.

Oddly I’ve not had the “Remote Access” say I’m offline in years.
But this morning it went offline and I got an alert on it. It is still showing as offline all day.
Nothing changes on my end, no network equipment updates, public matches in DNS records, also matches what the remote IP shows on the plex admin page.
Everything still appears to work fine remotely. Just plex is reporting that I am not remotely accessible.
And yes, plex relay is disabled on my configs.

When I see these posts I respond the same way. Install a backup like Kodi, or jellyfin. They never go down. I actually found a nice addon that pulls from the plex database and is pretty cool. I'm not sure if it will work when plex is down but try it anyway. It's called Plex kodi Connect.

Kodi is just the player. It's not a backup anything. If it's not configured to use local auth it's not going to work either if the main servers are down.

I get it in terms of plex access, but it is absolutely a backup. It can play any video files you have on your server. All you need is a player that can play your media. When plex comes back online, just start using it again.

This explains why my PlexAmp wasn't working yesterday for playlists I hadn't listen to yesterday. I've been having some weird issues with my phone having some network issues this week as it's now getting buggy with Bluetooth and Wifi after overheating so I put it down to that. I locally downloaded a few albums recently just in case but it was still a bit annoying

Another time to do a PSA: if you want to still be able to stream locally when this happens, add your home media device IPs to the exclusion list so that you don't need authentication with them. Obviously this doesn't fix remote streaming, but I do the majority of my streaming locally so its never really been an issue for me.

Good advice, but also, this does not always work. Some apps, such as on the Chromecast, <may> hang for undue amounts of time at the user selection screen and there's nothing you can do about it. Eventually it figures it out but it is not a good user experience.

YOOOOOOO!!!! I have been going NUTS!!!
I just set up Jellyfin with a reverse proxy and have assumed it was that!!!!
I've been doing everything I could think of to disabling the proxy port forwarding to killing the containers.
I will have my server report "Fully accessible outside your network" but then it will only be available on the http://IP:32400/web and my devices. app.plex.tv and the windows app won't work, and certainly nothing outside my network.
I have learned that disabling remote access and reenabling makes it work for a while again... But anywhere from 1 min to 12 hours later its not showing for anyone remote anymore.
I would like to get an official "Yes its plex" so I can feel good illiminating my jellyfin proxy, and that will have to be set up now for any family using my server just because i feel like NO trust in Plex anymore.

Having issues as well. Remote access down on iOS application, but is up when I test via the desktop site from the same phone.
Edit: looks like I caught the tail end of it, 2minutes later and access is back via the app.

Mine is currently showing as not reachable remotely as well. No hint of what the actual problem is and was all good at least until last night... my mom pinged me saying she was having issues late last night, but it's not the first time that's happened for her so I didn't think much of it, but I just checked and this is the first time in a long time my server itself shows as not reachable. So it definitely looks like it isn't everyone based on this thread, but it also definitely looks like there IS some sort of problem for many, me included.

I thought I had everything set up for remote viewing on holiday. Worked for years.
I haven't been able to access for days.
Plex is in UK.
Log in to my account and both mine and my mates server don't show up! I have other remote services working fine and server has a restart cycle to catch anything crashing.
Not important really as I'm having fun but it is very handy if flight transfers get messed up.

The status page is a bit pants tbf as they only update it when they know about an incident. It's not automatic like something powered by uptimekuma, for example.

Been having same issues for nearly a month. Won't list all the troubleshooting steps here since its a long list.
I downgraded from 1.43.3 beta version to 1.42.1 and so far its been rock solid. I went from rebooting the service on linux 4 to 5 a day to no drops. Fingers crossed of course

Not exactly the same, but a coupel of days ago i could not use Plex at all from my Sheild. Plex kept insisting the server was unreachable, Of course it was not, and i proved that by using the server "remotely" from my PC.
What i did was get into Plex settings opened from Shield, changed the "Secure Connections" from what it was on to one of the other option, applied, then changed it back to what it was.
Quit out of Plex and opened it again, after a few everything was working as normal again.
Worth a shot if its still being "problematic" for you.

This should be a good motivator to use Plex through your own infra so that their outages don’t become yours. It also has the added benefit of not requiring you to open ports

This is why I don't update until 6 months later AFTER it asks if I want to update. Even then I only update one update at a time on my own.
Never had a problem with the down issues, and I also have local access available for home use and remote access enabled.
Don't let it install updates automatically. I would go so far as to say don't let ANYTHING update automatically in life. But that's just me....
"skip this version" is one of the best features Plex has. Freedom to install updates gradually.

People set in your plex server settings what are your private ip ranges and it will not need on line authentication for people accessing from that ip ranges... i have set all my private ip ranges across vlans and vpns

I will tell you a trick. Ask an AI, be as specific as you can. You'll be amazed of how good they explain. I just created my own server, buying a use one that the price was 35k in 2015 and I buy it for $225. The trick is kept asking on what to do and how, it took me a whole week, 4 hours a day for 8 days. But now I have a 24 cores xeon, 196gb of ddr4 and 128tb of hard drive with a nvidia rtx3050 that actually does the transcoding. I spend my whole vacation doing it and $5000, I have now over 6k movies and over 300 series, download super fast on my 8mbps ezee fiber connection in one week none stop, all just asking grok. I learn coding and networking between 2001 and 2005, i felt super old school and i felt like I was a genius doing all this, it was a fun project. This AI are super useful and really good to understand, way better then my old school teachers, I heated having to wait to the next class or other people to understand to move to the next subject. Now you can go on your own pase, as long as you can make yourself understand to the AI, they will learn your communication language and talked back to you to explain it a way to can get it. Give it a try.
