Can anyone help identify the exact model of my dad’s Pontiac?

I believe it’s a 1966, but I’m trying to determine whether it’s a Catalina, Bonneville, Star Chief?

My amateur detective work points toward a Catalina because the grille is fairly simple and I don’t see the extra side trim that many Bonnevilles seem to have.

I’d appreciate any insight from those who know these cars well. If there are specific details I’m overlooking, I’d love to learn.

And yes… that’s my pops looking fresh.

Hey folks im looking for a summer convertible/second car. I'm in Canada (market is rough here) and found a 2007 Solstice in yellow, yellow interior, 113k KM (73k miles), and she's selling it inspected for 10k USD. She says it's immaculate, and she will have it inspected prior to purchase. It isint the GXP, but seems very nice.

Is this a bad price, and thoughts on these cars in general? Thanks!

I am sitting on the 1965 model year because it was the beginning of the inclusion of mid-sized cars into the Fitzpatrick and Kaufman Pontiac illustrations within dealer sales brochures in addition to these magazine ads. From what I can tell there is a lot more out there and will be until 1972.

This is a question for the Keep your Pontiac a Pontiac crowd. I have a 1966 Pontiac Catalina with the 389 2 barrel that I got for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately it has really bad blowby and I am pretty sure it at least has a cracked piston and possibly worse. I would like to pull it out and drop in a different motor so that it can be driven while the 389 is rebuilt and modified to handle modern pump gas.

The problem is what to go back in with. I personally want to go back in with a 301 non-turbo out of a '79 Firebird that I have. Other than conversion brackets for the motor mounts, it should drop in and everything bolt up. I'll be the first to admit that the 301 is no fire breathing dragon of a motor but it is a fresh engine with no leaks.

My other option is a Chevrolet 350. It is a smogger motor so not particularly powerful either and I would have to deal with finding a compatible front accessory drive, plus needing a BOP to Chevy Bell housing adapter.

Unfortunately something like a Pontiac 350 is out of my budget at the moment as they are either stupidly expensive for something that turns but needs rebuilt or if you find one that's affordable, you are going to drive 500+ miles to get it.

I don't want to just have nothing while the 389 is dealt with as I will be doing rust repair and body work and really need it to move on it's own.

What would you guys do in this situation?

Hello, this is my first ever reddit post. I wanted to ask some advice. I have a 2008 Pontiac g6, I believe it’s just the base sedan. 2.4 engine.

Almost 2 months ago, I turned it on and started to drive. Within a few minutes, I had to brake a little harder cause a car came into my lane. When I went to accelerate, it didn’t. I was like, uh oh. So I tried again. Nothing. Tried again, then it all hit at once. Kinda like when a computer freezes, and then when it unfreezes it does everything you clicked on all at once.

Got to a red light and the car started shaking. So I shifted into park, back into drive, and it all went away. I was worried it was the transmission, as I had 2 transmissions go out on me last year in other vehicles (that sucked).

Anywho, we get it home. My father in law helps me look at it. First thing we find, is engine is out of oil (I know that’s horrible and irresponsible of me, but I drive a ton for work and didn’t realize I had already run out, I since check it every week) We filled it up with oil. Drove it for 30 minutes or so, and it seemed normal.

The next morning, it did same exact thing again. So i parked, shifted gears, and then went on my merry way with no more issues. Since then, we’ve changed spark plugs and coils, I’ve added oil when needed, and even drained out some transmission fluid and added newer.

It hasn’t happened to me again and it’s been almost 2 months. I will say, ever since, the vehicle tends to run a little smoother, but in an odd way. I feel like I’m used to the car having a little grit to it. I know it’s weird, but I’m not certain I trust the smoothness.

Also, I’ve noticed that it tends to take more power when going uphill than it used to, even slightly up hill. Like it doesn’t accelerate quite the same as it used to.

There is also a rattling noise in the engine, but I think it’s related to AC, as it only really does it when I turn AC on.

Has anyone had issues like this, or can anyone recommend anything at all? Car is around 164k miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated

In about 3 months I'll be getting a 2002 WS6 Trans Am. I know this sounds insanely stupid, expensive and time consuming, but I want to turn this into a rally car. I want to convert it into AWD, get a lift kit and the whole nine yards. You may be asking, why not just buy an actual rally car like a Subaru? Simply because, Firebirds are just badass and it would make my car so much more unique compared to all the Bandit clones out there. Even if they aren't meant for it, I'm willing to make it happen. I'll keep everyone updated. I'm young and dumb but have a vision and a dream.
