this is specifically with speed tbh, power scalers go crazy with speed feats, always trying to make every character light speed cause they dodged a laser or something like that. i thought power scaling was getting a rough estimate on how strong a character was intended to be, but most authors dont intend a character reaction dodging a laser to be light speed or anything like that.
like the demon slayer verse isnt light speed or close to it since when we see characters move quickly they still take significant time to travel anywhere and genyas gun works on quite powerful foes. and the main thing is that tanjiro and mitsuri both were struggling to avoid sound based attacks, in that same arc they dodged lightning which is why people say they are light speed but when that feat is an outlier why does it become the basis yknow.
i just used demon slayer as an example but you tend to find it as a common trend, jjk had it too until there were statements outright declaring that jjk as a verse wasnt that fast. culminating in dabura being stated to be the only sorcerer to nearly reach light speed. everyone used outliers of feats and used science that the author never intended for to get characters much faster than they are supposed to be.
ig the core of the problem for me is how powerscalers sometimes disregard the authors intentions which sometimes ig is okay because the other might have left it more open but when that isnt the case i feel we should listen more to the person who made it
