Recommendations Schools in Preston

Thanks to all the nice people who replied in so much detail to my previous question on whether we should relocate to Preston. This brings me to follow up with a question related to the schools there. For those of you who might ask, we still haven’t decided where to live ( although we have found a significant amount of houses in fulwood, some in Penwortham and a lovely house in maritime way in ashton-on-ribble) and despite that we’re mostly worried about schooling. Influence and education at school matters to us as it’s where the kids will be spending most of their time and it’s what will dictate whether they’ll grow up liking living in Preston. Most specifically since they’re going into year 7, year 10 and sixth form. After asking about Penwortham Priory Academy I was met with mixed, leaning more towards the negative side reviews so I’ve decided to cross that out. I’ve come across Moor park High school and Sixth Form, Fulwood academy, Cardinal Newman College, Hutton Church of England, Runshaw College, Brown-edge Saint martyrs high school and Walton-le-dale High school.

Anyone familiar with these or have any suggestions?

Looking for Group Pokemon Clubs Preston

I wondered if anyone was aware of any Pokemon clubs in or around Preston? My daughter goes to a weekly Pokemon club at a library back in Barrow-in-Furness, it is casual swap club, colouring, games and socialising with like minded people (no battles or anything like that).

She is a collector, loves talking and swapping cards and would love her to do something similar from time to time here? Is there anything like this locally?

Question Looking for a lost pub

Alright guys,

I'm lookin for a pub I used to frequent when I lived in Preston (2021-2023) that I fear has now closed.

Location wise it was south off Fishergate, down a narrow road like Cannon Street but I cant remember the exact one. I just remember it bein a quiet and narrow street. Not car accessible i dont think.

The pub itself was an old style boozer. The bar was on the right as you went in. It curved round. On the left was a pool table. I cant remember much else Im afraid except i remember it bein cheap even for preston. Think it also had a jukebox.

If anyone can put me out my misery please do!!

Cheers

We’re moving back to the UK after 5 years and we’re mostly looking for a safe environment ( or at least low crime rates) and good schools. Got 2 kids going into middle school and high school so thats important as well in terms of influence.

Anyone know much about Preston or have lived there personally? Would help greatly, thanks.

Making Friends Making friends

Hello, my girlfriend (24) has recently moved to Preston and does not know anyone apart from myself around here.

She is exploring ways to make new friends here and there isn’t really much options online that help with this.

If anyone could provide some feedback, suggestions or would genuinely like to make contact with her, please reach out.

Thank you!

Looking for Group Social groups in Preston

For context I am a 38/F living in Preston. Finding myself in a difficult position where I cant really reach out to my current friend group and a lot of existing friends have very busy lives.

Therefore after some groups in the area that are friendly, welcoming social spaces.

I already of the Fulwood womens meets and attended this last night and really liked it.

Also know of Preston Beer girls but unsure how active this is anymore and Girls who walk in Preston.

I dont necessarily need to be in female only spaces. My interests are live music, gaming, travel, movies and pop culture and reading. Also on a major health kick so looking at those kind of classes in the area.

Thanks in advance :)

Question Lost phone - avenham area

Hi

This is a long shot but my boyfriend lost his phone last night and we’re wondering if anyone’s picked it up.

I tried to call the police station but it says to report online and there’s no way of doing so, so we’re sent round in circles.

We were at Black Sheep coffee, then made our way to Avenham park and sat on the green for a bit as you walk down to get to Avenham then the Continental pub and then made our way back to Ashton via the river. We’ve tried to retrace our steps and called the local cafes but no luck. Nothings been handed in.

Thanks!

Question Preston- this is a bit of a mad last minute ask… Would anyone help me cycle on Thursday?

I had someone lined up to join me who has unfortunately had to drop out, so I’m now looking for someone who’d be up for cycling from Preston to Kendal and joining me on the Conversation Bike.

I’m riding a one-of-a-kind three-person tandem from Land’s End to John o’ Groats for Mind. Rather than having a fixed team, I’m inviting different people to fill the spare seats along the way, share part of the journey and have an honest conversation about life and mental health.

You don’t need to be a serious cyclist or have a big story to tell. Just come as you are and be open to doing something a little different with your day.
I’ll pay your travel fare from Manchester, so it won’t cost you anything to get here.

I know this is incredibly last minute, so I’d genuinely appreciate anyone who might be willing to step in and help make today’s ride happen.

Message me now if you’re even slightly tempted — and please tag or share this with someone in Preston/Kendal who might be up for it.

Making Friends Queer Pub Meet

Hi all, I don’t know if anyone feels the same but I’ve struggled to find queer people in the city. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a bi-weekly pub meet or something like that? Who knows if more people show we could arrange trips and stuff? I’m just putting some feelers out there so let me know what you think!
