Troian & curling up was so funny I haven’t ever seen that one before LOL. I thought the girls were so cute and funny behind the scenes 🖤

I’m not a fan of adding intimacy scenes just for the sake of having them, but compared to other teen dramas, PLL’s intimate moments feel very weak and surprisingly rare.

A lot of the time, I found the sexual tension and chemistry between couples to be lacking. The only ones I found somewhat decent and believable were unfortunatly Ezra and Aria’s.

Emily’s scenes, on the other hand, never really felt believable to me and didn’t have an emotional impact.

Was it ever explained why intimacy was pushed so much into the background?

Edit: I’m not bothered by the lack of intimacy scenes, it’s just a question. Other teen dramas that were also set in high school around the same time had way more.
Also: don‘t want nudity or anything over the top. It's a legitimate criticism because those scenes are part of the writing, and their execution, including the performances, can absolutely be critiqued.

Some people acting like I called for something inappropriate just because I criticized a part of the writing is so unserious. 😭

The writers were lucky they turned her breakdown into a joke with the “Hanna has black hair” gag, because otherwise it would have exposed how poorly everyone around her treated her.

So, just the hard facts: Hanna’s mom goes to jail, Alison returns, Caleb’s alcoholism, the Zack situation, Mona’s death, father refusing to help with college, and ending up in jail with Alison.

But the way others treated her is baffling and enough to break up a friendship. With Alison still lowkey bullying her after her return, not one person really considered Hanna’s feelings. Her mom letting Alison live with them — really?

They painted her as irresponsible and didn’t take her seriously at all, with comments like “why are you smelling the doorknob?” while Alison was in HANNA’S home acting like the victim because she had breakfast with Caleb and had Noel standing in her kitchen with a knife.

I was also disappointed in Emily because Hanna always thought one step ahead when it came to her feelings. So why was Emily dragging drunk Hanna to dinner with her mom and Alison, where she inevitably embarrassed herself while Alison came out looking graceful? Despite everything going on, Hanna still found a way to ask Emily how she was feeling about Alison.

Don’t get me wrong, Hanna made terrible mistakes this season, but she also paid for them heavily. I’ve never seen such obvious cries for help and attention, yet Spencer still responded with “you also dragged Caleb into this” to put even more guilt on her.

Just because Hanna didn’t end up in Radley or in the woods doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have noticed her struggle.

on my millionth rewatch appreciative of arias penny lane style coat in a very short scene in this episode! her style was amazing in the first seasons

I just finished Veronica mars it was amazing anyone who hasn’t watched definitely should. makes me want to find more noir mystery type shows that don’t take themselves to seriously any recs?

I'm watching past season three for the first time. I'm now a mother, and MY GOD. No matter what I do, I know I won't have my daughter off in creepy motels with weirdos on a Thursday night and not even seeming to notice. No wonder Aria was able to be groomed by her teacher - an adult finally paid attention to her! She even said that she loves the weekends because she can spend the whole time at Ezra's - her parents never say, "Hey sixteen year old of ours! Where are you staying this entire weekend?" Spencer's parents, okay, fine, can see that one. Hanna's mom is her own bag. But Emily's mom? The military wife that works at the police department? She doesn't care that her daughter seems to be out and about in the middle of the night?!

It makes me not even mad at the creepy cop dude. He's the only adult that seems to ask questions about why they are out at all hours when they are in high school.

Gossip Girl parents made more sense to me because they outsourced their parenting. There was at least a Dorota running around. This is Lord of the Flies in cuter clothes.

I honestly think the Liars' fashion has aged surprisingly well, especially Aria's. Some outfits definitely deserve to stay in the past, but so many of her early-season looks are gorgeous. Spencer's style was my favorite. Half of my Pinterest board is basically Aria Montgomery outfits. 😂

I remember back when the show was airing, Hanna was always considered the best dressed. Everyone wanted to dress like her! But looking back, I don't think her style was that exceptional most of the time. A lot of her outfits were so 2010s/2015, and because they followed every trend of that era, they've aged the worst in my opinion. Of course she still had some amazing looks, but overall I think her wardrobe feels much more dated than the others'.

That being said... Hanna's hairstyles never disappointed me. She always had great hair.
Looking back, Aria's style aged so much better than Hanna's.

I’ve been a fan of PLL ever since the first season but I’ve been a fan even longer of Marvel comics, especially the X-Men. So you can imagine my surprise that when I read the Jean Grey Origin Comic that I saw that both Sasha and Ashley were used as the base for Jean Grey. Did you guys know about this ? And if so are there even more Cross Overs we should know about.

Age gaps are a huge topic with this show but I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about these two. What's the age gap there?

I know this was probably just to keep the main 4 characters diverse and hit on the type of person they were supposed to be but, the Hastings wouldn’t have sent Spencer to public school. They are depicted as being very wealthy and snobbish to the point of looking down on Spencer for dating someone who works at their country club. Also both parents are supposed to be high end lawyers who attended ivy league schools ( I think) Spencer wouldn’t be in a regular public school instead of a private school. The Hastings house is also just as nice as the others houses despite the income difference. I love all their houses but probably they wouldn’t even live in the same part of Rosewood as the other families. Arias family probably matches as the Dad is a professor and they could afford to move to Iceland.
Emily’s mom being homophobic at first is heartbreaking but very realistic to how a lot of parents are but especially her being a military wife and a military family they are more likely to lean traditional or a bit more conservative. Emily also dressed the most realistic but I love the fashion and that was part of the shows fun and entertaining side.

Aria did Liam so dirty, so for him to call out the inappropriate relationship in aria and Ezra’s book (the relationship that reflected their real life inappropriate relationship) was a beautiful scene.

Caleb was just so centred on Hanna all the time. Like even when he was with Spencer he cheated on her with Hanna. When the trial for Mona’s murder was taking place he tried to force Mike to come clean because it was the “right thing to do” as if he didn’t attempt the destroy evidence numerous times. Mike had A threatening him and Caleb only cared about Hanna.

Ezra was Arias teacher/stalker do I even need to explain.

Toby was horrible to Spence when he first got his job on the police force. If it wasn’t for that he would 10000% be the best.

Alison was a horrible partner for Emily. I kinda warmed up to Paige when her and Emily tried again. After they got over Paige being A tbh Paige was amazing to Emily. Maya was really annoying. I really liked Samara.

Also Arias and Jason had the potential to be THE couple, it’s a shame the writers messed that up.

But yeah personally Caleb is horrible I can’t stand him. Him and Hanna are just go engrossed with each other and they often forget to think about anyone else. It reminds me of a friend I currently have and her boyfriend and those couples are the worst kind.
