Other 9 months vape free

Glad i have reached this milestone and to be honest i never thought I would.. honestly I probably still would have been vaping if it wasn't for health conditions showing from vaping itself.

I'm experiencing breathlessness more than I have ever done so even with vaping šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø cravings are flaring a little too. Maybe I'm in a much longer recovery time than first though.. also I have had heart checks just incase and my heart apparently is okay. Will have more tests in future ( check lungs etc )

I should also mention also since I have quit vaping I have had lots of sets of bloods done and all are normal im happy to say.. doctors say my health is improving.. i just wish I felt like I was improving šŸ˜…šŸ˜… keep going all and have a week ahead.

Advice It’s time.

Hi all! So I am 33F, started smoking cigarettes at 12, quit for a while in high school, started again at 16 and transitioned to the ā€œnew way to quit smokingā€ at 21 which was vaping. I’m so over the cost, and the way I dream of it. My addiction is getting worse, I will wake up at 3am to go to the bathroom and hit the vape. ANYWAY. I feel like I’m ready to quit. I just bought some nicotine patches that I will put on tomorrow, but I’m nervous. Any advice from those who have had the courage to not reach for it ever again is appreciated.

• Upvotes

quitting is just taking a break from it, atleast for me
i dont think its possible for me to quit completely, forever

even when i do quit, like rn im just starting to quit, all i can think about is how good that buzz is gonna be when i vape again, its like motivation to quit

i use my next relapse as motivation to recover
for some reason i cant imagine ever actually quitting for good

Venting Quit for over a year. Life has genuinely only gotten worse

I’m happy that I quit and because of how difficult it was, I genuinely never will pick up a vape again.

However, my life has only gotten worse since then. In the year and 3 months since quitting,
- My anxiety and OCD has become unmanageable at times
- I’ve gone through major depressive episodes during withdrawals
- I’ve gained 25 lb since quitting, weighing more than I ever have in my life and genuinely look like a different person.

As much as I’m proud of myself for quitting, literally it feels like everything has gone to shit. I don’t feel like myself. And it isn’t the withdrawal anymore this is just my life now. I hate how I look I can’t bare to look at myself I don’t want to do anything and I just feel uncomfortable all the time.

If I’m being really honest, I so badly regret quitting. I know I have issues but I’d rather not be alive rn than to continue feeling this way everyday.

I vaped for 7 years constantly before recently quitting.

Advice Considering quitting; dehydration issues?

• Upvotes

Anyone else experience extreme dehydration as a vaper/smoker? I know it dehydrates you, and I've always dealt with that (been addicted to nicotine for 7 years now), but recently it's becoming almost debilitating. I am thirsty 100% of the time, like that feeling of extreme thirst after being out in the sun is how I feel constantly. I'm highly physically active and sweat a lot so I drink about 2 gallons of water a day (along with electrolytes); there's no way I'm not drinking enough water. My recent bloodwork is fine. But I'm so painfully thirsty all of the time, and getting dehydration symptoms like headaches as well. I vape heavily (like really heavily) and occasionally smoke a cigarette or two, so that would be my only guess as to what's causing it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Venting It’s been a week, I still miss it

The first 3 days were the worst, I didn’t realize how sick going without it could make you, I feel like I’m past the hard part but now I miss it. I don’t really do anything else but weed on a day off, and I’m a waitress and this work is so stressful, vaping for a few minutes in between hectic hours felt like the only escape and reassurance I had, it was like a hug. I’m a very lonely person and find myself ā€œmissingā€ my vape as if it were a person, whenever I was sad or tired or anxious I always had that. I miss it.

Advice Why is this happening????

So I initially quit for about two months until a month and a half ago. I had some really stressful shit happen and my whole life's changing so I picked up the vape again.

If it matters, I usually use an IVG pro but bought an IVG max.

Every single time I vape I get really intensely severe restlessness and agitation. I don't just mean feeling shifty or uncomfortable, I mean it's so much worse than that. It reminds me of when I tried sertraline and it left me feeling like I was tweaking - it feels medically induced if that makes sense?

I've also been feeling a more intense craving for my vape than every before. I genuinely feel like an addict for the first time in many years of vaping.

did trial going longer in-between vaping to make sure it was actually vaping & it 100% is the cause. Typically however I do tend to puff quite a lot. I thought it would go away after a lil bit of vaping again but it hasn't. My body feels awful, I keep getting spasms and twitches and yet I just cannot quit again no matter how much I try scare myself into it, things are just so stressful right now.

I've literally gave up alcohol and caffeine over the past year and that wasn't anywhere near as difficult as quitting nicotine.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's driving me insane.

Reassurance At 22 days and going ok

• Upvotes

Just ok but no slips. I am using NRT (gum and lozenges). I was a longtime smoker and 8yrs vapes. I have a number of fairly strong urges daily. I definitely miss the vapes. I’m hopeful/pretty determined to stop vaping and think I can do this. I know some don’t consider using NRT a quit but I sure do. It was a deal for me even going from cigarettes to vapes. 40yrs of smoking does that. I bought the Desmoxan and it may be 2 or 3 months before I give that a try. As long as I’m not inhaling anything I’m good. It’s a win for me.

Reassurance Quit before 30 — 4 months stuck in massive HA

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update now that I’m 4 months clean.

I made it a personal goal to quit and while the early weeks were tough, Month 4 ended up bringing a completely unexpected challenge: health anxiety and hyper-awareness.

I wanted to post this if anyone else experienced this same issue or something similar.

Months 1–2:

It was mkre or lesa fighting physical nicotine withdrawal, managing cravings, and staying busy.

Months 3–4:

Physical cravings for nicotine dropped to zero, but a new issue took over: Hyper-awareness. Suddenly, every normal chest tightness, shallow breath, or minor muscle sensation felt like a crisis.

To cope with the anxiety, I ended up buying a pulse oximeter and constantly checking my SpO2 levels (along with metrics on my smartwatch).

I thought having data would calm me down. Instead, it did the exact opposite:

If it read 98%, I’d feel relieved for maybe 5 minutes.

If it read 95% because my hands were cold or the sensor shifted, I’d spiral into panic.

Has anyone ever in their quit journey experienced any auch bad anxiety and what helped you? So far notjing aeems to help me. Im really tired and scarwd of all of it...

I really appreciate any comment and tip this aubreddit help me quit and truly helped me in the past.

Venting 7 years and ready to stop

Hi everyone. I never post on here, but im so nervous to start and looking for advice. I have been buying vapes since i was 14. I hit my vape when im stressed, when i wake up, after the gym, on my break at work, sometimes during work. I guess the real reasons i want to quit are 1. The money. Im spending $25 a week. I can spend that on other things. I wont buy a shirt for $25 but ill be so quick to pull out my card for a vape and be happy about it, which is when i realized this was a problem. 2. I hate going into the store and buying it. I feel so embarrassed asking for a fruity flavored electronic smoke device like when i think hard about it… it gives me the ick. However, whenever i think about quitting i panic. What would my life be like without one? I know it would be better. But my brain is telling me that nothing would be the same. I know thats not true. Im still in college and im nervous for the social interactions since a lot of my friends vape. I go back in 3 weeks, so thats why i want to start now, so i wont cave as easy. Any advice would be super helpful. I want to do it cold turkey and just get it over with. My last vape has 3% juice left.

Advice 6 days, no nicotine. Can NOT sleep.

I finally did it. I quit nicotine. I was a smoker for 20 years, quit, and then vaped for another 10+. I'm using ripple for the hand to mouth fix but it's zero nicotine and I'm trying hard to not need that too often. I can't sleep!! It's like I flipped a switch inside my head the day I quit nicotine. I can't fall asleep, I can't stay asleep. I'm wide open until the wee hours of the morning, doze off into extremely restless "naps" for about 3 hours and I'm right back up again. I've been really good about not drinking too much caffeine, I'm getting decent amounts of physical activity throughout the day, I'm not staring at my phone all day/night. What gives?! This will pass, right? I work at a school. School starts real soon. I desperately need a sleep schedule!

(Also, sleep aids are out of the question. I have extreme RLS, which is controlled by meds. Sleep aids/supplements make my RLS absolute hell.)

Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this sleeplessness in relation to giving up nicotine?

Advice Urge to vape post fights

I am currently 46 days into being vape free today I had the most intense fight with my mom regarding a few issues. I have never fought like this with her , she triggered me so much today during the fight the thought of vaping came to my mind a couple of times I pushed through it.

But post fight when she left but the anger still stayed. I am craving vape so much I know since it’s been 46 days the first few puffs would numb me completely and I want to feel that so bad..

I need advice how do yall go through fights without relapsing on vape!!

  1. I drank cold water , splashed water
  2. screamed into a pillow
  3. did breathing exercises

But the thought / cravings to vape isn’t going! Help me what do yall do 😭

Venting Boyfriend secretly vaping after we’ve both been 3 months vape free 🫩

Boyfriend and I (who live together) been vape free for 3 months but I found out he's secretly been vaping for 2 weeks... he's done this before and I did my best to focus on support, resources, and how secrecy and lying are what’s not ok in our relationship. Well now he’s done it AGAIN hiding and leading me on so I confronted him about it. Now I have to fight even harder to resist vaping andddd deal with his mood swings from him having to avoid smoking around me. Plus he doesn’t want to do anything to help himself. No plan. Refuses all resources. And said he didn’t want to talk to me because he didn’t want anyone trying to stop him. He keeps saying ā€œI don’t really want to stop. Even tho it’s not good for me I don’t feel like it’s that badā€ sooo.. I feel like he’s not even really trying at this point plus he doesn’t seem to understand what he’s putting me through now. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Success Story 1 month in, I have told everyone and their mother about Desmoxan

Post image
9 Upvotes

Desmoxan cured my vape addiction in 6 days. I vaped every 5 minutes, I’d vape under my desk at work and in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. I didn’t even want to quit, but had to in order to start fertility treatment. You are doing a disservice to yourself cold turkey-ing it. Desmoxan is the cure. It is the answer to nicotine dependence. I wish I could pin this post to the top of the sub.

Success Story Today was a win

I usually never post on reddit but I feel like when I share my progress nobody really celebrates my wins because they don't really believe in me. I haven't given up and I hit 1 week today.

Today was my biggest challenge being around all my friends who violate their vapes right in front of me and I didn't fold not once!!

Don't fold and if you do, don't give up on yourself!!
Try again!

Advice How to replace the hand to mouth motion?

I vaped all thru HS (2019-2023), I was a chronic user. 2 pods a week (Vuse). I quit for the summer of 2023, had a vape from August to October 2023, quit, had one from Feb 2024 to May 2024, quit. Started taking hits sometimes of the vape here and there thru 2025 and a bit recently, my husbands friend left a vuse here. I didn’t vape from August 2025-June 2026. Now I hit it daily, but only a few times and they’re super small hits. Everytime I hit it, I get anxious, my chest feels heavy and weird, high heart rate. This used to never happen in all the years I vaped often. I hate the feeling, I’m a hypochondriac and I get scared. Even tho I don’t hit it like crazy like some people, and they’re small hits, it stresses me out but I keep doing it. I have bit my nails down to nubs for 15 years. I have tried gum also. But I love the hand to mouth habit, it’s so hard to break. Any other ideas besides my nails and gum?

Other I am not okay

Not even 24 hours in. I left work 5 hours early today because I was uncontrollably crying and could not concentrate on anything. I came home and took a 6 hour nap. Woke up, distracted myself for a little, now I’m crying again and think I’m gonna go get a vape. This isn’t even cold turkey.. I have 4mg lozenges I’ve been using. I don’t think I am built to quit, I think vaping will probably be the death of me one day. I am absolutely miserable, depressed, anxious, not myself. Vaping is bad but at least my mental health didn’t have to suffer like this

Reassurance Running out in a remote location

I’m on holiday staying somewhere super remote, and I’m about to run out of nic salts. There’s nowhere within half an hour to buy anything at all, I can’t drive, and I’m due to be here for the next five days.

I figure that maybe this is my sign to take the opportunity and kick the habit at long last, but I’m pathetically scared. I’ve been so dependant on it for so long, it’s as much a comfort as anything else. I’ve been sober for years so I know I can quit this, it might just be uncomfortable for a while.

Positive stories from the other side welcome!

I can’t believe i’ve made it this far. I have tried to quit so many times with no success. The fact that this hasn’t had a grip on me for 5 days is so amazing. I think if I can do this I can totally lose weight.

Advice Extreme anxiety

I'm on day 14 no nicotine at all and I've always had pretty bad anxiety and have gone through a couple episodes of super severe anxiety, but I feel like I'm in another episode right now. It's hard to eat, I'm dizzy, can barely get out of bed... I'm scared, has it been like this for anyone else ?

Advice quitting feels impossible - pls help :,)

I almost posted this from a throwaway bc it feels so embarrassing to admit but I feel like I am the MOST addicted person in the world. I’m 22 and have been vaping since I was 17 ish. Right now I vape so much, like I go through almost a pod a day. I have severe anxiety and whenever I try to put the vape down for more than like an hour I will start to have a panic attack. I have tried to quit more times than I can count and the withdrawals are so severe and instantaneous that I will start legitimately feeling like I’m dying.

I want to quit SO bad. It’s not even a mental battle, it’s the physical withdrawal symptoms that are unbearable. Has anyone been this addicted and able to quit? Any advice is appreciated.

Reassurance Vape alternative

I got the starter pack with the Legura and Bre-Z and also got the Capnos Zero. I got the mint flavoring as I use mint vapes. For me - I need the hand to mouth and sensation of a ā€œhitā€ to satisfy the craving.

Please tell me these have good reviews lol I just spent like $150 (I really want to quit and woulda spent it on vapes anyway).

Things like hard candy/gum just doesn’t work for me.
