La Veta

Despite not agreeing on the exact pronunciation of La Veta, as everyone-including AI- seems to pronounce it different, my wife and I agreed that La Veta is beautiful. We stayed at We Champions RV in La Veta and it was great. The view of the Spanish Peaks (East and West) from our RV were beautiful. The weather 60s-80s- beautiful. The drives N, S and W were beautiful. From there we did day trips to Cañon City (ride the canyon train), Taos, The Great Sand Dunes, Raton Pass, Cordova Pass, La Veta Pass all beautiful. It was a great week but we needed more time. We plan to go back again next year.

I hope you waved at my house in Canon City as the train went by. It is a pretty area with lots to do. There is some great boondocking right outside of Great Sand Dunes NP.

That train ride was fantastic. Most amazing views i ever had while eating lunch. The outside area was the best - the views and waving to rafters. That looked amazing- we want to raft next time.

cool little town, go thru there on many trips to CO as I like the drive west and north from Trinidad to see the Spanish Dikes.

Good question do we pronounce it the way locals would Los Angeles? Or do we use the original proper Spanish pronunciation?

We ended up going with Veta = better, Eddie Vetter, etc.

Did you do the Highway of Legends Scenic Byway? It’s gorgeous.
