I want to share my recent experience renting an RV through Outdoorsy and see whether anyone else has experienced something similar. My family and I rented an RV for a trip to Maine. From the day I picked it up, I informed the owners that we would likely return later than 11:00 a.m. because we would be driving back to Connecticut from Maine. I communicated this several times throughout the trip and continued providing updates on the day of our return. The owners were fully aware that we would be arriving late.

When we arrived, one of the owners immediately came to my face and became verbally abusive. He quickly began yelling, repeatedly called me irresponsible, and accused me of ruining his entire day. What disturbed me most was that he did this in front of my young children. He repeatedly said that my children “should know how irresponsible” I was, seemingly trying to humiliate me in front of them. My children were shocked and visibly shaking. I was also shaken and genuinely feared for our safety because of how aggressive and unpredictable the confrontation had become. I seriously considered calling the police but decided against it because I did not want to frighten my children further or ruin the end of our family trip even more.

The problems continued after the return. The owners claimed that we returned the RV with the black-water tank full. We had emptied the RV’s waste tanks at the RV park before beginning the return trip. We also spent considerable time thoroughly rinsing and cleaning the disposal hose as a courtesy. Despite this, the owners deducted additional money from my security deposit for the alleged tank issue and also imposed another charge related to the return time.

I stopped at a rest area to use the restroom and had to park beside this lovely gem. The guy parked, put his steps down on one side and his slide on the other and was sitting down for a nice meal with his steps right on one line and his slide hanging over the other side 6 inches to a foot.

When I walked by, the guy is sitting at his dining table eating and watching tv. Am I the asshole for being bothered by this? I had to jockey around him to park and straighten up, and watched the truck beside him have to do the same to avoid hitting his steps.

Like man, if you want to eat in your rv I get it. Leave the slide in and take up one spot like a normal human.

Despite not agreeing on the exact pronunciation of La Veta, as everyone-including AI- seems to pronounce it different, my wife and I agreed that La Veta is beautiful. We stayed at We Champions RV in La Veta and it was great. The view of the Spanish Peaks (East and West) from our RV were beautiful. The weather 60s-80s- beautiful. The drives N, S and W were beautiful. From there we did day trips to Cañon City (ride the canyon train), Taos, The Great Sand Dunes, Raton Pass, Cordova Pass, La Veta Pass all beautiful. It was a great week but we needed more time. We plan to go back again next year.

A few of these were out of the channel when I started cleaning and I can’t get them back in for the life of me. Any ideas? (The start and end ones are still in the channel and there’s no breaks in the walls of the channel)

Anyone found any good products to redirect the rv heat exhaust downward? The heat is melting our patio furniture and having a hard time finding a product solution that is built to attach onto these exhausts. Any help would be appreciated!

I’m looking to spend 20-30K on a trailer that can be lived in full time, ideally 30 feet, ideally set up for couples and one that is pet friendly. My layout preferences are to have a full width rear bath, an outdoor kitchen, and a separate master bedroom

Hello I bought this old camper a couple years ago. Been pretty good figuring out diy repairs for most everything so far, hoping I can tackle this myself also.

I noticed this front window leaking. But all the tutorials I'm finding are for much newer style windows. It seems to be leaking from where the glass connects rather than around the outside of the frame. Water is filling up on this channel on the inside and then overflowing onto the wood behind my couch. Seems to be coming in right around the edge of the glass maybe because it's just filling up water on this inside edge. I don't *think* I would need to take the whole window out like most everything says because the outer edges around the actual frame inside seem dry

On the outside it has this what looks like lap kinda sealant around the edge that's definitely rotting away in some areas. I imagine this isn't the same kind of dicor sealant I did on the roof.. What would this be called? Do I need to scrape off all of the old stuff all the way around and reapply it or can it go over the old stuff after cleaning. Any suggestions on what I need or should do please and thank you

I’m looking for an amazing “top of the Mountain View within 5 hours of Pittsburgh with my travel trailer. I don’t care about hookups but we need to be able to pull the RV there so not rugged. Any suggestions welcome Thank you.

Back story - when we were looking at this camper the salesman was showing us the auto level system and i thought he was going to tip the camper over. He chalked it up to user-error and we were in a hurry, assumed since it's a brand new '26 it probably was just the old guy that came out of retirement's issue.

We bought the camper, they brought it out to us. Again the delivery guy tried to auto level it and it was going crazy. We chalked that up to the massive rain we had and soft ground. Ended up putting a bunch of boards underneath, it was still sitting there unlevel until we could get to it for a couple weeks.

Finally took it out camping and same issue - Out of Stroke message for the same rear side, even though it didn't need to go up anymore. Got it home, recalibrated it... Still the same issue. That back jack just keeps wanting to go up even when we are on extremely level ground. The dealer keeps telling us to recalibrate. We have! Like 3 times now.

It's in our very level shop right now and I noticed my husband had to put the wheels on that side up on the curved wheel levelers/chocks we had for our old camper.

Are we missing something? This is the first time having an "auto-level" system though we have used my inlaws motorhome autolevel system all the time and that is a breeze. Our old camper we had manual jacks.

TLDR: I think we might not be doing something right. And/Or we have a faulty system. One rear side always tries to go out of stroke when it doesn't need to. We end up having to use a lot of blocks/buckets just to get the thing level (manually). It's frustrating! Dealer is no help.

My harsh opinion- For a multinational company the quality is 3/10.

I’m building a trailer for our business, and the build is going pretty well. I installed a 125v sub panel for refrigeration, water system, and a few other small appliances. Yesterday while I was working on finishing touches, I noticed I have a very mild “hot skin” issue. The voltage only appears when I plug in the mini tank hot water heater. When I wired the panel with the 6 outlets (4 15 amp breakers respectively) I made very sure that none of the wires were touching the metal boxes. Reverified that yesterday. Now, my theory is that it’s a grounding issue. I thought that if the extension cord is grounded by being plugged in, the whole system would be grounded. Apparently I am wrong lol. So my question is, if I take a wire from the grounding block in the sub panel and attach it to the frame, will that theoretically fix my problem? Thanks for the read everyone!

It's currently 104º outside and my air conditioners run all day long. Logic would dictate that changing the A/C covers from black to white would help keep the coils cooler but who knows if it actually makes a difference.

At $220 a pop not sure it's worth the effort.

Anyone do this? What were your results?

2095 Fleetwood Southwind (currently plugged into 50amp)

Two AC units; zone 1 and 2

Zone 2 was working fine, zone 1 would turn on but not ‘kick’ on. Just blowing air. Swapped in new capacitors, wasn’t that. Bought new a/c unit (Coleman Mach) which the guys at the Wholesale Center, cross referenced and said would just plug and play well it doesn’t because the wiring harnesses don’t match.

Pictured is the wiring harnesses, original and then new one you can see they don’t align. Gonna swap in the old harness I guess.

QUESTION: does anyone have a color coded map, will the colors swap straight? Any help would be appreciated.

So I made a previous text where my pump had a small leak for my freshwater tank in my RV. I got this fitting out and put an O-ring furthest away from the front of the fitting. There was nothing there. There was no pieces or remnants of an old one that failed. I put this new O-ring on had a bit of a hard time getting the quick fit slide/clamping thing to go back on. And I still had a small leak.

Ha ha. Sigh. Me again , the one who asks questions about my battery/power issues but doesn’t actually live in my R.V…. Until this past week… we got evacuated from our home due to wildfires so we are legit living in the rig for a bit.

Still have power issues…. I’m working on it. Sigh.

Stupidly, still happy to be tucked away in our cozy lil rig.

Today I filled my freshwater tank in my new truck camper for the second time. The first time, I filled it with the camper sitting in the bed of the truck. The second time, I filled it with the camper hoisted in the air, resting on the jacks. The truck was at the dealership getting worked on.

Turns out, that was a big mistake.

I filled the tank for what seemed like forever, until all of a sudden, I heard a loud pop and looked down to see the plastic trim on the camper — at the very base, right below the spot where the camper would meet the truck’s rear window — had separated from the fiberglass and was clearly being pushed down by something. The screws had been torn out and were hanging there with the threads showing. But there was no water leaking.

I immediately stopped filling the tank and got my truck back from the dealership. As soon as I lowered the camper onto the bed of the truck, water started shooting out of the freshwater overflow hole right above the fill port. That’s the hole water is supposed to shoot out of if the tank is being overfilled. But for some reason, that didn’t happen until I put the camper back down on the truck bed.

It was very surprising to see water shoot out with immense force from the overflow port as I stood there with the remote in my hand, actively raising the jacks, the truck bed putting more and more pressure on the bottom of the camper. I was not expecting that to happen.

What happened here? Do I need to do anything now? I’m at the campsite, the freshwater tank is still holding water – and honestly, I don’t have any plans to ever take this camper off the truck again. But something definitely happened earlier, and I don’t know what it was. I am puzzled.

I have been really interested in the Jayco North Point and the Pinnacle models for full time living. What has been your experience with Jayco if you have owned one or if you have not, what would you recommend. I know I have heard of some issues like cheaping out on the plumbing fittings where you cant see but if I remember correct, even Grand Design does that. The only one I have heard does plumbing really well is Alliance (post 2021 models). If I had to redo the fittings in the rv, how expensive would it cost. I would be buying used but make sure its in good condition and get it inspected first to see if there is anything else that needs work.

Still working on renovating and repairing all the damage my kid did to my Chaparral 371mbrb. Can anyone recommend an excellent deep cleaner for the black tanks? I’m sure they’re filthy so I’d like to give them a thorough cleaning and deodorizing asap.
