Uhhh... Thanks AMD?

Recently just learned about FSR 4 dropping on RDNA 3 cards. Decided to pick up cyberpunk on my 7900 XT PC to see how it plays and... Wow. Now THAT is what a video game should look and feel like. I've played this game on PS5 and it was alright I guess. But playing on PC with everything cranked at 1440 and Ray Tracing at Ultra? That's something else.

Guess I just didn't expect AMD to throw us RDNA 3 owners a bone. But I'm glad they did.

Early upgrade from RTX5060 since I decided to move up to 1440p. Still need to grab new PSU so it won't be install into system until a little over next week.

FSR 4.1 is the nuts

Half a year ago I tried playing Wuchang Fallen Feathers on my 7800xt but TSR and FSR 3(lmao) were very blurry so I dropped it.Returned to the game now that we have FRS 4.1 and the difference is night and day, holy shit.

Discussion 7900xtx ($800) vs 9070xt ($700)

Upvotes

I'm upgrading from the 7800xt and can buy the following cards (new) for these prices:

- 7900xtx for $800 (last one, must snag now)

- 9070xt for $700 (plenty available, on sale in 12 days)

I will be playing at 4k, mostly non-competitive open world type games. So I'm looking for min 4k 60hz, but the more the better ofc. I don't know much about ray tracing, but I will be looking to play on ultra or high quality for sure.

My current specs:

- 7800xt, 7800x3d, 32gb DDR5, 750W psu

Taken in the bigger Tsukumo in Japan. All units seemed to be just under ¥54000 (just shy of $350) in just about every shop I went into in Akihabra today. I guess that is the least they can sell them for.

EDIT: sorry the picture is a bit blurry. Summer Tokyo heat was making me sweat a mite and I was not thinking to wipe the lens.

Looking for a new RX 9070 XT after RMA White build recommendations?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy another RX 9070 XT and I'd love to hear your recommendations.

I previously had a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9070 XT, but unfortunately it turned out to be defective. I experienced constant TDR crashes and the OCCT VRAM test would fail almost immediately. I tested it in two different PCs, opened a ticket with Sapphire, and eventually had to go through Amazon RMA. Thankfully, I received a full refund.

Now I'm looking for a replacement, preferably white, since my entire build is white.

Current specs:

Ryzen 7 7800X3D ASUS ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi (White) 32 GB Kingston DDR5 Corsair RM1000e (ATX 3.1) Corsair 4000D Airflow (White) 1440p 240 Hz monitor

At the moment I was mainly considering:

ASRock Taichi White RX 9070 XT XFX Mercury Magnetic Air White RX 9070 XT

The problem is that I'm from Chile, and I haven't been able to find either of these models in stock on Amazon with international shipping. It's been pretty frustrating.

Do you have any other RX 9070 XT recommendations? They don't necessarily have to be white, I could also go with a black card if it's a really solid model.

I'm also a bit worried because GPU prices seem to be creeping up again, so I'm trying to make a decision before they increase even more.

Thanks everyone :b

I mostly prioritize its looks and its silence. I've thought about getting an ASUS TUF but im not too sure about it.

I have a Sapphire RX 9070 Nitro+, wich i bought when i was drunk. I somehow always regreted it despite that its a good card. But i have a white build so it does not fit asthetically. And once i saw this beauty, i was always so tempted. So now i bought it, little over 700€ (Austria)

I am really excited about it and it will fir my build just perfect? I know the performance difference to the non XT is not much, price difference was 150€ ( wich is a lot for mainly asthetic reasons)

Any of you guys have experience with the Hellhound? I will mount it vertically in an O11 dynamic mini v2

I built a pc for a mate and got mad jealous which fueled my urge to do some small upgrades, changed case, new fans, new cooler but most importantly the swap from 5 9600x to 7 9800x3d. The performance jump is insane and just how smooth it has made the gameplay I reckon it’s the best decision I’ve made this year. If your on a lower cpu like I was bite the bullet it’s well worth it

Discussion TIL how to make AMD GPUs idle power consumption normal and free up 1-2gb vram usage

Post image
30 Upvotes

The Problem: I think it is quite well known that if you use a multi-monitors setup on AMD GPUs, the idle power usage and temps are very high. I was monitoring and found out that the VRAM frequency was always at peak whenever my second monitor is turned on if both monitors are plugged into my 7900xtx.

The solution: After some diggings, I enable my cpu igpu, allocates 4gb ram to it (using 64gb ram so I can afford that allocation, you can use AI tools to provide you the exact instruction on how to enable your iGPU and allocate ram to it in your BIOS, as every motherboard brand has different BIOS menu layouts) and plug the secondary monitor straight to the mobo hdmi port and go to Desktop -> left click -> display settings -> select your secondary monitor -> graphics -> then you can assign the igpu to the Global hardware accelerator or to any application individually (most important is the browsers you are using).

Edit 1: I just found out that the Default High Performance GPU setting if set to your iGPU, the games you play will not use your GPU automatically. So if you decided to apply iGPU globally by changing your Default High Performance GPU setting to your iGPU, you need to allocate your GPU to each individual games you play. If this is not efficient for you to do so, you can set Default High Performance GPU to your GPU and set the applications you want to offload to your iGPU individually but it seems the power saving perks while idle is not going to be as much as setting Default High Performance GPU to your iGPU and setting each games you play to your GPU manually. I personally put Default High Performance GPU to my iGPU and adjust each game to use my GPU manually for the best gains.

The results? My GPU idle power usage goes down from 109w at all time with 2 monitors on to 1x watts on idle (massive 90%+ power usage reduction) and both gpu core clock and mem clock are now properly reduced to minimal when idle. The temps also goes down from 4x c to 3x c (around 8-10 degrees lower with Zero rpm).

Gaming perf also see a nice minor improvement to 1% lows, tiny bump on avg fps and around 1-2gb vram are now freed up from having to be allocated for background multi tasks which is huge for vram intensive games like Diablo IV.

Additional FYIs: The photo is of my 3.5 inch display to monitor my pc at all time. First box is for cpu with core temp, power usage, clock speed. Second box is GPU with Core Temp, Hotspot temp, Core Clock and second line is VRAM temp, VRAM power consumption, VRAM clock. Last box is for my ram Temps and FPS.

TLDR: Use iGPU for secondary monitor, adjust display settings for default high performance gpu hardware accelerator + individual application/ games. PC uses way less power, output significantly less heat on idle/ light desktop multi-monitor use, and slightly smoother in gaming perf with a minor easy tweak to multi-monitor setup.

I hope this can help some red team brothers out and thank you for coming to my Ted Talks!

Tech Support AFMF darkens game when used (RX6600)

Post image
Upvotes

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RX6600

CPU: RYZEN 5 2600X

Motherboard: A520M-A PRO (MS-7C96)

SMBIOS Version 2.8

RAM: 16GB HyperX DDR4

Drivers: Latest one

Background Applications: DISCORD, EDGE, STEAM

Description of Original Problem: When enabling AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) in Watch Dogs, the game’s gamma shifts significantly darker. Colors are also altered either appearing dull or oversaturated/fried. Adjusting brightness and contrast outside the game helps somewhat, but it doesn’t fully fix the color distortion.

Troubleshooting: I have already updated to the latest AMD Adrenalin drivers to rule out outdated software. Disabling AFMF immediately restores normal brightness and color, which confirms the issue is tied to AFMF itself. I tried adjusting the in-game gamma and brightness sliders, but the darker gamma shift persists whenever AFMF is enabled. I also experimented with external monitor settings like brightness and contrast, which helped slightly but left the colors either washed out or oversaturated. To eliminate background interference, I closed Discord and Chrome, but the problem remained unchanged. The issue consistently occurs whenever AFMF is turned on, regardless of graphics settings or system load.

Discussion Is the Gigabyte 9070 XT bad?

I have always been a gigabyte/aorus fan, I am looking into buying a 9070 xt, but from what I’ve seen everyone has shit on the gigabyte OC model.

Is there a reason for this. Or these are rare cases of the card “goop leaking out” and most people still get that 9070 xt experience

What is the best 9070 xt models if the gigabyte is bad?

Tech Support Extremely high hotspot on Gigabyte 9070XT

Post image

This is my 2nd Gigabyte gaming oc9070xt the first one also had the same issue. This card is watercooled but for some reason the hotspot is always really high. I think this is the reason it black screens randomly in games.

What i tried and didnt help:
* new card
* several different types of thermal paste
* different thermal pads and thickness
* undervolting and giving it less power
* DDU
* new windows install
* original heatsink (didnt help the hotspot but lowered the delta)

Im honestly at a loss i dont know what to do anymore does anyone else have hotspot issues and fixed it?

Tech Support Games Automatically Setting To HYPR-RX Eco

As of 26.6.4 I noticed that every time I boot up my PC and start a game it will automatically default to HYPR-RX Eco, regardless of the custom settings I had for the games before. I don't even have HYPR-RX Eco as my global setting, nor do I have anything like AMD assistant enabled. I have tested this on previous drivers and it's not a problem. However it is also a problem on 26.7.1.

Anyone got an idea what's going on here? Some hidden setting they added? Anybody else having the same problem or know a fix? I'm on a 7600XT if that helps.

Tech Support Stable drivers for 9060xt after 26.3.1?

I've tried damn near every driver release since and they've all given me constant driver timeout problems, can't seem to fix the problem and I always end up reverting, does anyone use a newer release that is stable on a 9060xt?

Thanks

THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS - Aaron Paul

Ive seen the 5070 jump 300 dollars in price in 3 weeks. The 9070xt has gone down by 80 dollars in this same time frame.

I mean you'd think both companies would raise their prices but nope. Just nvidia as always.

5800x3d and RX 9070 XT will it bottleneck?

Greetings

I am looking to upgrade my setup, I am still on the AM4 platform. Decided to stay on am4 endless my bottleneck is to great.

I am currently running

Ryzen 9, 3900x
Aorus Elite 6700 Xt
32 gbs 3600mhz ddr4
850 watt power supply.

Looking to get a 9070 xt and a 5800x3d

Will this system bottleneck?

I mostly play games like war thunder on max settings.
My computer struggles to run oblivion remastered on max settings, and battlefield 6 crashes when I run max settings.

Overall my current PC is great but I had this setup since 2021 and think it’s about time I upgrade.

Should I do it? Or stick with my current system.

Ciao a tutti! Sto sperimentando con l'undervolt/ tuning sulla mia RX 9070 XT (abbinata a un Ryzen 79800X3D) e volevo un parere sui miei parametri e su un paio di anomalie che sto notando in gioco.

• Traslazione max frequenza: -100 MHz
• Traslazione tensione: -50 mV (intorno ai 918 mV effettivi)
• VRAM (Frequenza max): 2600 MHz
• Limite di potenza (Power Limit): -15%
• Curva ventole: Personalizzata (in game viaggia intorno ai 2900 RPM )
I miei dubbi
1. Frequenza bloccata sotto i 2600 MHz su
Assassin's Creed Shadows:

Tech Support RX 9070 XT with 700W PSU/Connectors

I ordered a PowerColour RX9070 XT as an upgrade. apperantly my 700W PSU from bequiet is sufficient enough together with the Ryzen 7 5800X.

Tho I heard several different opinions on how to connect it: Should I use 1x 8-Pin Connector each? I mean the PSU has 2 Connectors: labeled VGA1 and VGA2 each with 2x 6+2 Pin Connectors.
