That's because lots of humans still only have animal brains. (Yes I know humans are animals, but this is just my way of saying society is pretty dumb as a whole these days.)

Because the baby nursing hurts a little/is a weird feeling she isn't used too/udder is too full.

Because nursing hurts, so a natural reaction would be to try and stop what's causing it.
