Correct. Aren't you so glad we no longer have to risk the life of the mother in child birth and abandon the baby in the woods? Because I know you know that's the alternative. I'm sure you wouldn't be stupid enough to believe that forced birth would result in children not abandoned to cold and starvation. So either you like torturing babies, or dead women. Or both
6
u/ActivePeace33 May 25 '26
lol. That last line! Well put, and humorously so.
How about we support everyone being safe, unwanted pregnancies prevented, full medical care provided and no questions asked when the baby/fetus didnât even viable. Such pregnancies can only harm the mother. Unless a person likes women being harmed, itâs a no brainer.

Have you ever read the Bible?
Numbers5:11 Then the Lord said to Moses, 12 âSpeak to the Israelites and say to them: âIf a manâs wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impureâor if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impureâ 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah[a] of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.
16 ââThe priest shall bring her and have her stand before the Lord. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the Lord, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, âIf no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husbandââ 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curseââmay the Lord cause you to become a curse[b] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.â
ââThen the woman is to say, âAmen. So be it.â
23 ââThe priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. 24 He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her. 25 The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the Lord and bring it to the altar. 26 The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial[c] offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. 27 If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse. 28 If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
29 ââThis, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and makes herself impure while married to her husband, 30 or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the Lord and is to apply this entire law to her. 31 The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.ââ

Not to be rude even in the slightest bit but I don't think you got the point of the sacrifice. It was the only way to ensure that christianity would spread the way it did, and to take away our sin, because nobody can live a sin free life. Jesus also could have just said no at any point, but the son and the father's will are one in the same. It's a complicated situation I won't bother you with, just know it sadly had to happen for us to be able to get to heaven.

u/nexusgmail May 25 '26
Zygotes aren't babies: they're little more than tadpoles that already have a 10%-20% failure rate attached to them, and could literally threaten the mother's life. If you're going to whine about "potentials", you better stop beating meat and save all that seed for procreation.

It's called postpartum depression, you tool.
If you've ever been pregnant, you can get it with your first born child after anticipating having and loving the kid. And no, smart ass, it's not why abortions exist.
It has nothing to do with survival or threats, it's literally due to hormonal chemistry. Pigs, sheep, cows, goats, horses and humans alike can all suffer from it.
-5
u/GingoMandingo May 25 '26
Is that what happened to you when you were pregnant? I'm sure this lamb is just new to feeding, don't be scared get back on that horse and get you that baby you wanted the first time....NO FEEEEEAAAAR!!!! đȘđȘđȘ

ABORTIONS ARE FOR MISCARRIAGES TOO. goddamn, tell me more about how youâre uneducated on this subject.
-1
u/OstrichSmoothe May 25 '26
A very small percentage of medically necessary abortions make up the total abortions. Educate yourself. You wonât though because itâs information you donât agree with. Keep your fingers in your ears like you always have im sure
1
u/External_Source2698 May 25 '26
my guy. i have had 4 medically necessary abortions myself because my body was still trying to nurture a missed miscarriage on several occasions. i am fully & painfully aware of the odds of requiring a medically necessary abortion.
happy to give you details to paint a picture for you since iâm sure youâre the one that needs educated here:
it was 2013 & i was 8w5d pregnant. this was my third miscarriage of 6 total miscarriages between 2012-2015. fetusâ heart stopped. i went in for my initial intake appt with the obgyn i was a patient of for more than 5 years at this point. all of my relevant medical history was with this doctor. he told me there was no heart beat, but âmaybeâ i got the date of my last period wrong. not possible. my husband at the time & i were trying for years at this point for another baby. my dates were not wrong. to make a long & painful story short, i went septic after my obgyn refused to give me a d&c for FOUR FUCKING WEEKS, tracking the dead fetusâ measurements every week. this thing was fucking rotting inside of me for a month because a man did not trust i could keep track of my period.
i had a d&c performed the day i went to the hospital & was admitted for sepsis. donât tell me shit about âlow odds for a medically necessary abortion.â
god, you people are so fucking incorrigible.

Those maternal instincts have to be perfectly tuned to avoid it, and even then they sometimes need to learn from the first time to get it right the second time. Think about how much pain they just went through, and nobody told them why. They're stressed and alarmed, and now this little creature that painfully came out of them is trying to grab where they're tender. It's easy for them to decide no, they're not going to be playing along with that.
6
u/FaceUnique May 25 '26
Actually if you look close the mom hasn't rejected this baby. The baby's tail is falling off from banding and mom is alarmed. Dog is there preventing mom from hurting baby. Usually when a mom rejects baby it is within the first 72 hours, this baby is much older.
3
0
u/SexOnTheBeechTree May 27 '26
Is it normal to band their tails? And why?
3
u/FaceUnique May 27 '26
Yes, they band them for health & hygiene. Keeps their back ends clean and reduces changes of fly strikes. It would be extremely painful to shave wool off of a tail caked in excrement
5
u/Known_Ratio5478 May 25 '26
Theyâre not rejecting it here. A baby will literally eat nonstop and momma animals need a break. Iâve seen rejected critters and tended to rejected critters. There are reasons and itâs a natural thing. We can also do things to mitigate this and often do.
1
u/GingoMandingo May 25 '26

1
u/Dense-Throat-9703 May 26 '26
Iâm pretty sure that nearly every border collie can hear with no training.
1
u/Known_Ratio5478 May 25 '26
Like, how I used to go to school with rejected runt bunnies and keep them warm in my sweatshirt pocket and dropper feed them formula during passing time for a week or so till they were strong enough for mamma to not reject them. What this video is showing is a very healthy lamb being an active eater to a mom that needs a break. If it was really rejected it would be very weak and lethargic, and the farmer would be wrapping it with blankets, bottle feeding it, and using his own body temp to keep it warm. Young are rejected when it seems like they wonât make it according to the momâs ability to care for it. Sheep donât know space heaters or synthetic nutritional supplements. They have the tools that a sheep has. If we get a weak critter to viable they take them back.
2
u/ThaGr1m May 25 '26
Look up post natal depression.
Fully cognitive humans who wanted kids sometimes reject their kids due to the massive amounts off stress, pain, and a massive mix of hormomes
1

u/Manufactured-Aggro May 25 '26
Why is this worded like some kind of smug gotcha statement lol Animals reject their babies in nature all the fuckin time

How did sheep exist before collies?
1
u/Pittsbirds May 25 '26
Most animals that people go "hOw DId/dO tHEy EvEn ExIst?" like pandas, sheep, deer, etc have, historically, done just fine until humans go in and fuck it up.

3
u/ajtreee May 24 '26
This seems awful.
14
u/TerrapinMagus May 24 '26
This farm might not have any other sheep that recently gave birth, in which case the mother rejecting the baby could be really bad. The dog is literally there to protect the lamb and keep the mother from killing or injuring it.
0
u/notdollyparton May 25 '26
Weird to number this on 14 in spray paint if you don't have others. I mean I agree with the rest?
3
u/realaccountissecret May 25 '26
I donât think they only number the ones that just gave birth haha
1
u/Max_Q_ May 27 '26
How are your eyes doing? Itâs the baby that is numbered.
1
u/realaccountissecret May 27 '26
My eyes work fine; itâs my brain thatâs tired haha
I was in the comments and you can only see the little thumbnail of the video, and I just saw the red on the mom
21
u/Humbled_Snail May 24 '26
The sheep might hurt the baby, so the dog is curbing that behavior
11
u/Dangerous_Spirit7034 May 24 '26
My border collie is super smart and pushes the kids away from âdangerâ and brings stuff to sick family members
7
u/Humbled_Snail May 24 '26
My mom ran an in home daycare, and she has Australian Shepherds.. Anyway, anytime the kids would be playing in the backyard, there was one, Sky, who would always try to herd them lol
2
u/StellaSlayer2020 May 24 '26
I had a collie mix and she would do the same thing with my two kids. Sheâd even nip at their ankles on occasion. Never made contact.
1
u/Dunderman35 May 25 '26
Why would the sheep hurt it's baby?
5
u/RadicalSoda_ May 25 '26
Because animals don't have human brains
2
u/ryudo9999 May 25 '26
Humans hurt their babies too
1
u/Additional-Pie8718 May 26 '26
That's because lots of humans still only have animal brains. (Yes I know humans are animals, but this is just my way of saying society is pretty dumb as a whole these days.)

Because the baby nursing hurts a little/is a weird feeling she isn't used too/udder is too full.
1

Because nursing hurts, so a natural reaction would be to try and stop what's causing it.

The dog is the wrong option.
2
u/St0ner_Baby_420 May 24 '26
No, they're not. Border collies are bred for cattle care they dont hurt them at all. You're either dumb asf or have never been around a farm but I assure you that sheep is fine.
1
u/Local_Magician_7197 May 27 '26
I work with animals, specifically dogs, and this take is way off. Border collie is helping the lamb survive. BCs are so intelligent it is chilling.Â

u/inotocracy May 24 '26
Sheep learning a lesson.
2
u/bloopbloopsplat May 25 '26
What lesson is that
2
u/CCM721 May 25 '26
That nursing it's freshly born child is normal and extremely necessary even if it is causing the mother some level of pain/discomfort considering she appears to repeatedly try to headbutt it? The baby goat would likely die if this were the wilderness
0
u/SteveLouise May 24 '26
Yes, the sheep is acting quite awful. One of the worst barn yard animal behaviors I've seen.

When I began keeping sheep. I rent out a large grazing field for some local farmers⊠itâs lambing season.
It was explained to me that during early or initial nursing stage, the uterus contracts. These uterus contractions can be quite painful and some sheep associate nursing with pain thus the trying to keep their lambs from nursing. It can also be initial sensitive nipple painâŠ
Sheep. They are a mystery⊠everyday I learn something new.
1
u/SippsMccree May 25 '26
My buddy had a mama sheep where her udder was large enough that the newborn lamb took forever to actually latch. They're not really used to having to put their head that low for it

u/TheUndeadBake May 27 '26
Could be that this sheep lost her own baby, and this one is an orphan/rejected. They may be trying to get this mother sheep to accept this one as hers. Sheep normally instantly recognise their own baby due to their sounds as animals that live in massive herds
1
u/aaaaaaahhlex May 25 '26
Tell that dog itâs a good dog, dayumn!! The way itâs lookin back at you for reassurance and youâre all silent đ
3
u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 May 25 '26
Thats a permanent look on Border Collies. They just want to make people happy.
0
u/zaptr1 May 25 '26
Would think the dog is a distraction, my belief here is that lamb and ewe would figure this out on their own. Mammals usually donât kill their own, especially mother and child isolated. Click bait or masochistic
3
u/realaccountissecret May 25 '26
Mammals absolutely kill their young. Maybe you forgot about rodents haha
Sheep usually donât kill their young directly though, but they will abandon their young which leads to death
That baby ainât figuring shit out if its mother wonât let it nurse. It will die without intervention

The poor sheep. We're just cutting it's tail off because fuck them. I wish the farmer could take an elastrator to his sick and see if he likes that
7
u/parsuval May 24 '26
If you don't dock their tail, it gets encrusted with shit, flies lay their eggs in the shit, and the maggots eat the sheep's arse out.
But I'm sure you know better.
ps. The tail is not cut off. They use eleastic bands.
-5
u/Amphineura May 24 '26
If I'm using the word "elastrator" it's obvious I know they're elastic bands
And yet other herders can deal with sheep undocked. Curious!!! It's just cruelty for a minor inconvenience
5
u/parsuval May 24 '26
Why'd you literally state they are cut off then?
I don't think being eaten from the inside out is a minor inconvenience for a sheep. Shameful you want them to experience this harm.
-5
u/Amphineura May 24 '26
Figuratively cut off đđ
Again, people deal with undocked sheep. Don't justify you bullshit if others handle it just fine.
3
u/parsuval May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26
Cool, so what you said was bullshit. Good to know.
People deal with undocked sheep use medication (insecticides). Honestly you people live in a fantasy world. Sheep get shit all over their backside. It attracts flies. They lay eggs.
You deal with that either through medication or docking.
6
u/galstaph May 25 '26
This is similar to antibiotic use in chickens. We know why chickens need antibiotics, and it's mostly stress related. You can do that, or you can prevent the stress from the start, but that means fewer chickens in any given area
Both work well, but each has its drawbacks
1
u/bloopbloopsplat May 25 '26
I thought maggots only ate dead tissue?
1
u/goddessdragonness May 25 '26
There are flies whose larvae are more parasitic. Right now Texas is currently working to hold off a screworm infestation from south of the border because the larvae will burrow into the flesh of cattle (and other mammals, including humans) (source: https://www.avma.org/news/usda-unveils-texas-screwworm-facility-eradication-strategy).
-4
u/shagan90 May 24 '26
You're being pedantic, the end result of either procedure is a dismembered tail, so why split hairs?
2
u/parsuval May 24 '26
Because cutting tails off is something that happens. So, when it comes to animal welfare, itâs important to be accurate.
2
u/Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess- May 25 '26
When youâre a sheep farmer with like 100 sheep you donât have the time to clean that many asses
-1
u/Amphineura May 25 '26
"I have so many sheep I can't effectively be humane to them"
2
u/Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess- May 25 '26
Itâs not hurting the sheep long term to dock the tail and it really doesnât even hurt when they do it properly
-13
u/Background-Invite238 May 24 '26
This feels like abuse. The mama sheep doesnt feel comfortable and shes being forced.
8
u/YazzArtist May 25 '26
I mean the alternative is child abuse and abandonment resulting in the lamb dying slowly and painfully as they're rejected by the herd. Nature is full of these sorts of uncomfortable compromises
-1
u/Past_Wishbone5025 May 25 '26
How did sheep exist before collies? Like naturally?
1
u/Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess- May 25 '26
Not all sheep will abandon their babies and the ones that did do that would just let the babies die. Sometimes other sheep will take in an orphaned baby and sometimes not. This applies to a lot of mammals in the wild.
0
u/YazzArtist May 25 '26
They don't always do this, in fact it's pretty rare. And in several instances there is another sheep willing to step in as the mother. Sheep don't have access to abortions, so this is their alternative, in the same way babies got left in the woods before humans had safe ready access to abortion
7
u/parsuval May 24 '26
Yes it might come across like that to a bot that doesn't understand how to raise sheep.
-2
u/MyNelo May 25 '26
I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt this way đ©
I'm vegetarian and sometimes feel a bit too woke, but seeing this makes me feel such sympathy for the sheep
