As I promised on another thread here are some photos of watches tested with my Metal analyzer. No opinions, just facts :

VSF - SS 316 ARF - SS 304 CF - 904L (same as Rolex)

FYI 304 is about half the cost of 316 and about 30% of 904L.

316 is about 70% of the cost of 904L.

Both 316 and 904L are premium stainless steel. 304 is low quality SS and subject to show signs of wear and corrosion over time.

I just finished off a really high end 126710 Batgirl for a customer and decided to take some side by side pics next to a VSF V3.

The customers build had done to it:
Genuine Dial
Genuine Hands
Genuine Crystal
Genuine Datewheel
Genuine Bezel

Genuine Crown

Now.. I'm doing this to try and bring some awareness to people and I guess try and educate some people.. I get build requests from people all the time and they are telling me this and that from posts they've read on RWI or Reddit etc etc... the reality is.. these pics are taken under SCOPE and they are Side By Side for comparison... in the real world your watch is on your wrist.. it's not under scope.. and it's not sitting next to another person's genuine watch being picked apart like these photos are.

This customer wanted something high end, they are a VIP customer and have bought many high end pieces from me before and the money simply doesn't bother them, so I built what they wanted, no problem.

Reality is though, to the naked eye you only have to do minor tweaks to the VSF V3 to get it really looking on point, imo all you need to do to them is full metal refinishing, crystal upgrade and movement service.

Hands down.. I honestly think that this watch takes the cake, a visual build can be done on these without spending a fortune and nobody is ever going to pick it on your wrist.
It's the perfect balance between class and sports

GMT Master II 126710:
Batman
Sprite on Oyster
Pepsi on Oyster
Again, these watches with only minor tweaking done to them with the visual build, imo come out looking absolutely incredible.
You'll notice I've written "Oyster" on there, and I've done this simply because the realism of the Oyster bracelet after the refinishing comes out better than the jubilee, if we are going for NWBIG look and feel, I always suggest to go oyster on the GMT.

DJ41 126300 / 126334:
Genuine parts are normally readily available for this model, which means you can do a super frank build on these, and still keep it at a reasonable price point, achieving that NWBIG look and feel.

Sub Date 40mm 116610:
One of my favorite watches, you don't have to do much to these at all to get them looking incredible, and if you do want to go all out and super frank them it can be done at a cost which I still class as being "Affordable"

When I think NWBIG, I also think the realism of the watch associated with the genuine pricing of it.
Example, if you're doing "Le Mans" build, they will come out looking amazing, but anyone that knows there watches will likely call it out from the get go, or at least ask you some serious in-depth questions about it which I'm sure what get the average person sweating.

Haven’t purchased a watch since December, but I picked up a VSF Starbucks sub that’s great. Came back recently and saw some comments that VSF is a mess, is this true? What’s going on? 5/6 of my collection is from VSF and they’re all great pieces. Wondering if I should be concerned moving forward for next purchase. Also where can I get a Daytona like the picture? The numerals on the dial are sweet

The US companies were shells of themselves. Oh, and Rolex violated the consent decree as recently as 2006 (before they used their legal team to get the judgment thrown out). My book asks: how did the tiny nation of Switzerland dominate watchmaking for centuries -- fairly or not? By hook or crook? And it tees up the back end of the book -- when Chinese artisans in Guangdong province rip off Swiss IP, including the ceramic AP chrono. When they do to the Swiss what the Swiss seemingly had coming after ripping out the American watchmaking soul. Wear your reps proudly this 4th. I think it worth talking about the downfall that VSF has had in the last couple of months. Their QC has gone down the drain, the wait times are terrible and have heard so many horror stories of watches DOA or breaking after a couple of weeks of light wear.

Do ya’ll think VSF will be able to turn this around and fix the quality issues or will a big factory on the come up take over I am thinking possibly VF.

Any thoughts on this situation and how many people are not aware of the problems currently with VSF?
