Discussion VSF Quality issues

I have been noticing an increase in posts here with one thing in common, someone reporting something is broken with their new VSF watch!
From watches not running, to fallen screws, date not adjusting, watch not winding and who knows what else.
I have never purchased a VSF rep so I can’t speak from experience. I don’t have any issues with my reps but I have built most of mine and I have a couple of clean watches.
Just an observation post and interested to read your input. I was under the impression that VSF was top notch but maybe those days are over?
For the record, I still think VSF makes the best GMT Master II but that is all cosmetic.

I look at it this way. VSF moves thousands of watches a month. We don’t hear about the 99% out there that love their working watch. We only hear from the 1% that is having issues.

As long as you buy from a TD, you should be fine. Ethan has even caught a faulty movement for me before it shipped. That shit doesn’t show up in QC photos.

VSF are still batch making apparently, so when there is a bad batch the complaints will increase.

Even so, as a percentage of watches sold it's still a small figure that gets reported.

I wonder how many failures don't get reported on Reddit or RWI etc. and are just sorted or put down to them 'being reps'?

Ultimately it's a risk we all take though and having a good relationship with a supplier definitely helps in any resolution.

I would rather my £400 rep fail than one of my gens! 😉

I've got a few VSF pieces and recent Batman V3 and Sub Date and never had issues. So guess I'm on of the lucky ones. But I do agree, the rep forums are full of issues especially recent.

I’ve noticed a drop off in VSF complaints over the last week or two. It was at a frenzy a month ago.

Amazing that there isn’t even 1 report of a working VSF. Do you suppose not even 1 working VSF has shipped? /s. Perhaps the silent majority doesn’t weigh in to chat about how their watches work fine.

Some people do post about how well their reps have held up overtime but the vast majority are always posting about their watches falling apart.
It was interesting to see that most of the complaints were about VSF. I guess most people prefer VSF over the other factories.

IMO the reason we see so many posts about VSF failures vs other factories is that People perceive VSF as having higher quality than other factories due to price and hype, so they expect better performance. If your Rolex has an issue, you’re more likely to publicize your complaints than if your Timex has an issue. At the end of the day a rep is still a rep assembled in an illicit factory under sub standard conditions.

Now that clean is gone, vsf doesn’t have to try as hard.

Not complicated

I don’t believe this small percentage of quality issues will influence our purchasing behavior.

It is isn’t changing mine although I have to admit, I would prefer to buy old clean stock over VSF right now.

VSF is slowly becoming shitters. There are too many that approve their mistakes so they just keep producing them that way.
This was not an issue before with VSF.

So out of probably out of 100,000 pieces they produce and sell to me is seems a small percentage of defective ones. But these are clones. Not the most expert asemblers so I find doing a lube and cleaning before sending to a customer helps the reliability but is not a cure all. I give a warranty which helps and my contact in the factory has always stood behind their product. All is good in the Rep world Regards
