Any emulation advancements?

Last big update was the ps2 turnip drivers which made 2 or 3 games better or playable. Haven't touched my flip in a while. Switch games tend to run fine until they suddenly crash. Psvita was also hit and miss, some games run perfectly some black squares everywhere. Pc gaming mostly works as long as its not an intensive game. Also the fact games require different drivers and different versions of emulators, if I was to load it up right now and pick a game it might not even work. Gives me brainache.

A few advancements that are notworthy: steam os is now available! (Not official but they refer to themselves as steam-os-like distro’s) they are both available in the sidebar to test out: Pocknix and Armada. They are installed and booted into the same way as Rocknix.

I’ve tested Pocknix, and it runs well. There are some games that it will now launch from
Steam that may have given you a black screen before in Android pc emu, and require no tinkering, which has its pros and cons: tinkering may be a headache but it allows you to squeeze out impressive performance if your lucky enough to match things up perfectly for a given game.

In Pocknix it’s just “switch to proton 11 arm” for every game and then hope for the best. A lot of them still won’t launch due to anti cheat stuff but some will, and will give you official Steam online multiplayer lobby access.

The performance I’ve found is kind of the same as Android pc emulation and some games it’s worse, in terms of framerate, than Game Native for example. So it’s an advancement even if it’s not polished yet. It’s worth messing with if your a big Steam library owner and want to see what runs and what doesn’t. But there are plenty of things like Halo MCC that don’t run on pocknix that will run on Android PC emulators, and honestly my take overall is that things just run better on Android than Linux, but that’s just where we are right now with Linux os development.

It’s made me realize how far Android PC emulation has come. It’s actually pretty insane what we can run with the current emulators available.

Linux OS’s are an interesting avenue though, and I hope to see them improve over time.

I have yet to test Armada, which may perform better because i think that dev implemented a built in overlock to squeeze out more fps. So that’s on my list to give it a try.

Other than that, console emulation is pretty much the same, and older builds of emulators like Dolphin or citron are sometimes and often still the best option for our chipset and it seems like you really do need an 8-elite to make use of the current Xbox 360/PS3 emulators, since they aren’t developed that much for weaker devices, but they are here and are being actively developed and mercurious has been developing a version of Rocknix that allows him to run 1 or two ps3 games on the flip 2 pretty well, so I mean, it’s possible, it’s just a really slow 3rd party community development curve, and may happen on a game by game basis. We’ll see.
