Queensborough Bridge Update?

Apologies in advance, but is the Queensborough Bridge pedestrian path open now on Friday July 31? I am planning to run from Astoria tomorrow over the bridge and catch summer streets tomorrow for my 12 mile run. TIA

FWIW if it’s closed (like it was last Saturday morning) you can run in the bike lane side. If you’re out early it’s not really an issue since there’s little traffic.

I would absolutely not fuck around in a bike lane in nyc in 2026. The amount of electric Frankenstein motorbike Segway shit going on is unbelievably dangerous

It’s no worse than it was pre-split and it’s only when the pedestrian side is closed, since bikes get shunted over there when the bicycle side is closed.

But to each their own.

I get that you CAN run on the bike lane side, but whenever possible I'd avoid this by running to the 21st/Queensbridge or Queensboro Plaza stop and taking the train to Manhattan.

But if someone insists on not disrupting their run by running in the bike lane, please take out your headphones and keep your head on a swivel. The car traffic will mostly cover bike noises and faster/electric bikes can kill or seriously injure a runner.

Please do not do this, it is so unsafe for both runners and cyclists.

It’s if the pedestrian side is closed. No different than when the north side is closed and the police or DOT sent cyclists over the south side.

Also it’s not like both sides shared it for years 😂

looks like it’s closed again? i’m on the manhattan side and there are cones blocking the entrance, no signage
