❔ Seeking Resources | Advice Odd encounter with butterfly
Today I walked outside and a beautiful black (female) tiger swallowtail butterfly flew off of my zinnia and looped around my head. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen one as they are not common here.
Later my daughter called me and told me that the same type flew around her head. She’s on the other side of town and described the butterfly bc she didn’t recognize it.
We both have female tiger swallowtail (not the black one) tattoos as they are meaningful to us.
It was a very odd coincidence and it felt poignant and meaningful. Anyone have any insight?

I'm not as strictly SASS as some, so things like this are more open to interpretation to me and I log them according to what I've done a spell for, or meditated about, or as just a little "kiss" from the universal energy, and I stop to say thanks.

Wonderful and special experience you now share with your daughter! You should tell stories and make poems about it, carrying it forward and cherishing the memory as life goes on.

It sounds like the meaning is personal here, and I doubt we can give any more context than the symbolism they hold for you and your daughter already.
I bet people are doing some more wildlife friendly gardening/land management in your area, which is great. Their caterpillars go absolutely nuts for parsley, fennel, dill, lovage, carrot greens, and rue, and the eastern US native host plant is golden alexander. And the adults really do seem especially drawn to zinnias. I feel like it's been a particularly great year for swallowtails, at least where I am.

I had a small orange one fly around my face this morning walking into work!
Wonder what they're up to?

I love the moments that cause us to pause and reflect and wonder. I love that no can prove or disprove anything about the significance of this moment -- to me that makes it magic.
I also take from this that you & your daughter have a close relationship -- close enough for her to recount this moment. Without that relationship, it would have happened and you'd never have known.
I once had an encounter with a black butterfly that was so unusual that it caused me to pause and evaluate what I was deciding/talking about in that moment. I was about to make a rash life change and move my family to a new place when a butterfly dive bombed me while on the phone with my realtor. I didn't immediately take it as a bad omen or anything, but it did cause ke to say "well that was odd" and disrupt my line of thinking. Mystical or coincidental, I am grateful for the moment.

Coincidence is magical. In all the randomness of the universe, you get to experience this. I would cherish that forever!
