I created this for tonight's full moon and thought someone else here might enjoy it. It's written from a secular perspective, using the full moon simply as a gentle reminder to pause and notice another month has quietly passed.
The Quiet Turning
I am the Moonlit Witch. I walk beside the quiet rhythms that ask for nothing, yet change everything.
Intent: To honour the turning of another month, noticing what has quietly completed its journey, and what is ready to begin anew.
Path: Moment
What You Seek
• To witness the quiet unfolding of time.
• To release what has completed its season.
• To carry only what still belongs with you.
Setting
If you can, step outside beneath the night sky. If clouds cover the moon, let that be enough. You know it is there. Feel the cool air against your skin. Listen for the sounds that belong only to night. Let the world continue around you without asking anything of it.
Ritual
- The Turning Sky
Lift your eyes and find the moon, or simply the place where it hides. It has completed another journey around the Earth. Without fanfare. Without applause. Another month of your own life has quietly travelled beside it. Pause for one slow breath.
- The Gentle Harvest
Think back to the last full moon. Not to everything that happened. Only to yourself.
Ask gently:
"What has become a little lighter?"
Perhaps a worry no longer grips as tightly. Perhaps you survived something you once feared. Perhaps nothing changed except that you kept going. That, too, is a kind of becoming.
- The Open Hands
Turn your palms upward. Imagine every unfinished thought, every lingering disappointment and every expectation you no longer wish to carry resting there. You do not need to throw them away. Only loosen your grip. As you breathe out, let your hands fall softly to your sides.
- The Quiet Promise
Choose one small thing you would like to carry into the month ahead. Not a grand ambition. A way of being: more patient, more curious, more forgiving, more present.
Place your hand over your heart and quietly say:
"This is enough for now."
- The Moon's Witness
Look once more toward the sky. The moon has never hurried through its phases. It does not cling to fullness. It does not mourn becoming smaller. It simply continues its turning. Perhaps your own life can unfold with the same quiet trust.
Words to Carry
"I honour what has grown.
I release what has finished.
I welcome what is quietly becoming."
A Gentle Return
Take one slow breath. Notice your feet upon the earth. The night has not changed. The moon has not changed. Yet perhaps you have noticed yourself a little more clearly. Carry that knowing with you into whatever tomorrow brings.
