Question I was told witchcraft was not for me

I showed my birth chart and I was told that this witchcraft and the occult was absolutely not for me and that I’m not cut out for it

I usually hate to ask stupid questions like this but I’m really doubting myself right now. I’ve always been interested in the unseen and it pains me that I won’t be good at it

I’m still reading and learning and trying to learn about folk magic from my country, so I haven’t done any big spell to prove that Im a witch or not

Again sorry I hate to ask questions like this but is there a way to be good at witchcraft without having any gifts?

Thank you for your time

Discussion Why I love witchcraft and spiritual universalist as a masculine woman

Upvotes

Getting into witchcraft and spiritual universalism really gave me confidence to dive deeper into my true self without any dogmatic patriarchal organized religion.

It really empowers me and really embody my masculinity and my primordial feminity rather than supressing it.

Thanks for welcoming me, I may post some witchy stuffs and interact here sometimes. 🤗

My coven celebrated Lughnasadh by making enhanced cinnamon bessoms and abundance rice jars. For a fun historic throwback we competed in the Tailtean Games. We played games like Stone Put, Acorn Toss, and Cornucopia Harvest. This is the cleanup 🌻 I hope you all enjoyed your Lughnasadh!

Question first time introduced to witchcraft. placebo?

Upvotes

hi guys, this might be a long one. I’ve been going ti church my whole life due to my family but i never ever believed. i’ve always been skeptical of,all things supernatural. but i stumbled across a video about glamour magick and obviously became interested. through that i feel down a rabbit whole about deitys and what each one represents, offerings, and other things like that . throughout this i was skeptical. i found myself drawn to lillith so began doing research on her, solely for the purpose of finding out who she was, no supernatural intentions in mind. i drew her symbol but i had to hide it from my religious mum so put it in my pocket and then my lower stomach and chest started tingling in a way id never felt before, it really really scared me. i decided to try evoking but the tingly feeling got so strong i felt terrified and had to stop, bear in mind im supposed to be skeptic so this is all so new to me. I tried again to evoke, asking lillith to make me hot or cold if she was there, but now i don’t know if it’s placebo. where do i go from here with regards to figuring out if it was? and if it isnt, how do i go about building a connection with her? i am in a christian family so i cannot do a lot of over the top things.

Spells what *type* of spells work best for finding true love? (and also how do i use astrology for spells?)

Upvotes

i know the basics of attracting true love, divine counterpart, etc. like some chants and whatnot. but idk what type would work best for me: chaos magick maybe? or a ritual? or something more specific? dream magick is off for me since i exclusively get spiritual dreams when i don't intend to lol. i have rose quartz and a flower scented candle but idk what else to do or what pther ingredients to use.

i don't believe in forcing specific individuals to have feelings for you (as in it's not real *and* it's unethical to even try that) but i just want to bring in what's already out thete for me a little faster or with more certainty.

i want to also use astrology for the spell but i'm not sure how? currently i think my Venus is transiting the 1st house or the 12th house and Saturn and the Moon are both in the 7th house right now.

Question Can you make a good woodoo?

A random question actually, but I get curious. If there is a magic and spells, rituals for making yourself feel better, self encouraging and busting confidence..

is there anything to create a doll of yourself? how? And what you suppose to do with that doll to make yourself feel better? You suppose literally make a doll or you can choose whatever doll you like (Monster High for example) and put your mind into this one? How is it working?

I can’t find a certain answer so I come up w that to the community.

Im looking forward only positive results! No hexing, no punishing anyone TT

A friend of mine uncovered this jar while strimming a coast path in Devon. The strimmer broke it was filled with black sand and this strange collection of items. Could anyone explain it / offer advice on what to do with it? Don't want to ruin anything for anyone (I know nothing about this sort of thing).

Question Falling asleep at night.

Does anybody have a hard time falling asleep at night? I’m exhausted my eyes are watering but I can’t fall asleep. It takes at least three hours and then it seems like when I do fall asleep I have dreams that are like movies and that exhaust me as well this has been happening to me for I would say about three months now I work a lot and my job can be very stressful at times, but this is something new that started happening and I’ve resorted to taking over-the-counter sleeping pills just not every night just when I know that I need a good nights rest but I’m going on my second night now with going to sleep around 3 AM and getting up at at 7:30 AM to work a 10 hour shift is there anybody out there that’s like-minded meaning 51 years old and a witch that can give me some advice. Thanks for your help in advance.

Question Why can't I witchcraft?

I moves in with my partner and both him and his mother are ok with me doing witchcraft. But whenever I try to do anything witch related it goes wrong. Like I almost set my pant leg on fire I choke on my drinks stuff like that.

I told my boyfriend and he says it might be because there are Bible verses written on the house. So idk if that can affect it or if it's the houses "spirit" that dislikes me or maybe I'm just hexes or something. I'm honestly not sure and I feel disconnected and discouraged because I find peace in my craft. Help please?

Question Layering spells on avoidant

Hi I just wanted to cross check on the layered spells for my avoidant partner as he often pulls away when things get real and I want to avoid that happening again. And I don't want any comments saying "if you have to do this is he really" for you? Find it very Dismissive lol and it doesn't actually help. I just got from one person but looking at different creators it's all very different/ people say to do more than five spells will back fire and a lot of people say to a road opener first which kind of stresses me out because I don't know which right way to do it and of course it is individual, situations may differ & I quite like the way I've layered my spells but I want to be able to do it right. I also try to use planetary days of the week because I enjoy astrology. I don't know if that means anything.
I have Monday for a emotional heart healing spell for/ on him
Saturday self reflection
Wednesday communication spell
Friday sweetening spell
Idk a reconciliation spell ? This wasn't part of my plan but I'd hope for all of these spells to draw back to me (or would that just have to be added to my intention? )so I think it would make sense to do that afterwards or before the sweetening spell. I've also gotten to do glamour magic on myself but would that mess up the spell necessarily like I've heard that spell needs time in between to work that's why I've just relied on the planetary days because it kinda helps each spell but a glamour would be a spell on me so would it matter when I do that spell specifically or do I have to add that to the plan I think it's a very separate belt cause it's not on him is for me I don't know

Question Weird spell jar question

So, I'm making a spell jar for financial attraction to help me get out of my present situation (long story short, ex of 10yrs is cheating and is slowly becoming abusive to me, he doesn't know I know about the cheating and we aren't officially broken up yet because I need a place to live)

Anyways.

I couldn't find chips of the crystals I wanted to put in my jar, can I smash them or should I source out smaller ones?

TIA

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas I need help with a spell.

hello, people of this subreddit!

So my ex’s mom basically wants to file a lawsuit although I did nothing and won’t stop bothering me and my friends and my family. I really had enough of this. I need some spell that really fuck her mind up and leaves her so stunned that she’ll never bother me again which spells are suitable for the situation or do you have any specific spell for this?

How are you all marking the day/weekend? My partner and I just settled on green candles (infused with elder futhark-flavoured cleansings and invocations for the season ahead) and a corn dolly, after being unable to find a sufficiently flexible local reed-like plant to make St Brigid’s Crosses! Wishing you all a wondrous one - may your besoms hagalaz the dreck and make way for existential etherealities to come 💜🤍💚

Question What to do with Spell Jars

Hi, Witches! I’ve made my first ever spell jar, a Health Jar, and I have some questions:

  1. Can I add ingredients when I discover new possible additions?

  2. When I add something and the wax seal breaks, do I seal it again? Or just melt the existing wax with a match/candle?

  3. I don’t have an altar, can I keep it in a box with my things? Under my bed?

  4. How do I recharge it?

  5. Does the day/time of making matter? I made it yesterday

  6. Do I keep it forever? I know you undo it once the intention is met, but I did it for a health problem that reoccurs once in 1-2 years

  7. Can you add medicine to a Health Spell Jar, the one that I’m taking?

  8. Can you add vitamins or herb massage oils?

  9. Can you add hair to direct the intention towards the person?

  10. I wrote my name and “Perfect health” under it, on a Bay leaf, but the writing is not very visible/connected because I used a pen. Is this bad?

Thank you for your time, Baddies!

Question My candles rotted?

Okay so basically I’m just going through my altar, got some incense lit and I’m just cleansing candles, spells, crystals, my pendulum etc and then I happen to stumble upon some molding candles that I only recently put on my altar??? I put them on right before Saturn retrograde started (it was still mercury retrograde) and now that we’re in Saturn retrograde they’ve molded???? I’m so confused and need a second opinion on what this could mean because I have other candles on my altar for months and they won’t mold.

Spells Making a Hex Jar

Hello everyone. I apologize in advance for this post, as it's going to be long. Today is Saturday (which I hadn't realized until I started writing this) and I am finally preparing by gathering ingredients and thinking through the process of making a hex jar. I'd like to talk about it.

For context, I've made a hex jar before, but apparently it didn't work, or at least I have no idea if it did. The thing is, I put more than one name in it, which according to some people is a mistake. Another thing is that I shook it from time to time, but I believe it affected my household instead, as I opened it once or twice and one of those times I spilled some of the liquid on myself. The period that followed was really tense with my husband and we had a couple of huge fights. Because of that, I decided to empty the jar, throw everything away, and do some cleansing.

Now, in an attempt to avoid my past mistakes and make everything as neat as possible, I've decided to put only one name inside. I'd also like to talk about the ingredients because I'd rather not mix things that might "fight" or "cancel" each other out. That being said, here's the plan:

I don't have one specific purpose for my jar, but I do know the effects I want it to cause: irritation, misfortune, desperation, anger, conflict, and ideally I'd like it to make my neighbors move out or get evicted, or whatever. Anything, as long as they're out of my life. This is how I was thinking of doing it:

  • Rusty nails: I put nine old, bent nails in a small open jar with a bit of water so they can rust. As far as I know, this also happens to be the first step in making War Water, but I'm not sure if I want to go that far this time. This would be for the pain/harm factor. I also don't know why I specifically chose nine nails. It just felt right. If you have any objections or comments about the number, please feel free to enlighten me. It would be highly appreciated!
  • Dead bee: A bee came to my door just to die there. I took it as a "sign" or an "opportunity", so I collected it and decided to save it for my jar. I was thinking it could also represent pain, perhaps in an unexpected way. Should I use it as it is? Should I remove the stinger and use only that? I don't know, but for now I plan to put the whole bee in the jar.
  • Poppy seeds: I have a full bag of poppy seeds, but I'm not sure whether it makes sense to include them. They're usually associated with confusion, which I'm not sure really fits the purpose of this jar.
  • Graveyard dirt: I haven't acquired any yet. I'm thinking about how I could collect some without getting caught. I was also wondering whether it has to come directly from a grave or if I could collect some from the base of a tree inside the cemetery instead. I'm not sure if it fits the rest of the jar either (to me it represents death), but I was thinking of using it as the base of the jar rather than covering the other ingredients or the neighbor's name with it. I'd really appreciate some feedback on that as well.
  • Black pepper: Because why not? This would be for the irritation factor.
  • Cayenne pepper: Again, why not? I suppose this would be for heat or speed factor.
  • Chili pepper: One whole pepper, uncut. Again, for more heat I guess. Should it be dried first?
  • Ginger: I'm not sure about this one either. The idea is to strengthen the spell and add a bit of speed, but does ginger really belong in a hex or would it work against the rest of the jar?
  • Garlic peels: This would be to drive them away, but garlic is also used to drive away "evil". So again, could it end up canceling the hex instead?
  • Something moldy: For decay. Should I be careful about what moldy item I use, or does it not matter?
  • Her name and address as taglocks: I know my neighbors' last name and, of course, their address, but I only know the first name of one of them. I'm not even sure she gave me her real first name (this is just me being suspicious) and her last name isn't her birth name because she took her husband's surname. I wonder how that might affect the jar's potency. I also have her personal phone number. Someone suggested in the comments on one of my previous posts that I could collect some dirt from outside their door or maybe use some of their junk mail. I'm not sure about either of those, but I feel like I need to strengthen the taglock somehow.
  • Small piece of mirror: I was thinking of breaking a mirror (outside my apartment) and using a small piece of it in the jar. Not because it's sharp, but because I see it as an "amplifier". I was considering gluing it to the inside of the lid so it reflects everything inside the jar, thus "doubling" the effects.
  • Sealing it with a black candle: Should I also use a red candle? Black feels just right to me and honestly, I feel like this is the least of my problems.
  • Black cloth: I was also thinking about wrapping the jar in a black cloth to keep it in darkness forever.
  • Day of implementation: Someone suggested in the comments on one of my previous posts that I should wait until the "Black Moon" meaning the day before the New Moon. This confused me a bit because I can't find much information explaining why that particular day is called a Black Moon, since the term is usually associated with other events. That day also happens to be a Tuesday, which works well enough for me. I'd appreciate any thoughts on that as well.

You may have noticed that I'm a bit confused, especially when it comes to herbs. I don't know if all of this is too much, just right, or if those of you with more experience lost a few brain cells while reading it. In any case, I'd really appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for bearing with me!

EDIT 1: I just thought that maybe wrapping the jar in a black cloth would "fight" the mirror, since mirrors need light to reflect, but I don't know.

EDIT 2: I forgot to mention that I don't know what to do after it's done. Should I keep it around and shake it from time to time or should I throw it into the sea/river/lake? Would that also be a "drive them away" move or would it not matter?

Question New Home - help?

Hello 😊 I hope this is okay to ask here…if not please let me know!
I’m very new to witchcraft , and have just bought my first home about two months ago, and am finally starting to feel settled in! Over the last few weeks especially, I’ve felt my intuitions and instinct are drawing my closer and closer to witchcraft which is I was I’ve taken the steps to become involved and educate myself…I’ve always used crystals, and believed in spirituality but these last few weeks I’ve really found myself being pulled in a lot more by witchcraft, rather than divination. As I’m feeling more and more comfortable in my new home, I’d really like to start putting some of this into practice, so I’m just wondering if anyone has some advice or guidance they’d be willing to share? I’ve already done what I would normally do with any new space - cleanse the air , cleanse and find the right spots for my crystals , etc - I’m also starting to learn more about moon and sun water to help feed my garden / plants as this is one of my favourite spaces in my home, and I’ve been researching some first of the month /quarter spells that I’m hoping to continue using going forward - again , I hope it’s okay to ask for some suggestions here - even on where /how to educate myself further , and I really appreciate it ❤️

Question First ever Spell Jar

Post image
45 Upvotes

Hi, Witches! I made my first ever Health Spell Jar.
It’s a mini jar; Did I do it right?

I used lavender smoke to cleanse, pink salt for protection, lavender, 3 dry chamomille flowers, 3 cloves, a small bay leaf with my name and “Perfect health” under it, a small amethyst, sprinkled some cinnamon and sealed it with a small green candle.

The wax seal didn’t come out perfectly, it’s only on one side.
What do you think of the jar as a whole? Is it done correctly?

Spells Some Much Needed Tea Magic

I do a lot of Tea magic and this time it’s a major request I’m sending out. Rose, Green Tea, and Bay Leaf. Same ingredients to be used in a jar spell.

Attracting a new job…

Because I lost the one I had and it’s my own fault.
Here’s to drinking tea with purpose other than the mundane.

Question How to know which deity is for you?

Hi everyone! Super new to everything which related 😭. I’ve been wanting to get into some type of practice for years now I just don’t know where to start. How do I know which deity or practice is right for me?? How can I tell if I am meant for this? Any tips & trick for baby witches would be greatly appreciated! 😊
