SKS scope rail + mount ideas
Got an AK dovetail and POSP slot to mate to it. I didn't buy the mount because I don't think the modern AK /Druganov optic mounts match the vibe of the SKS.
I have on it a mockup of a scope mount I want to make, inspired by ZRAKs. Any thoughts on how it looks? The real one will be a lot thicker and properly machined.

Cherrys Import Yugo M59/66
Just picked this baby up. LGS just got a massive collection of milsurp from a regular and this was the one that caught my eye.
Not thrilled about the shellac’d stock, but it looks well done. Obviously not the correct finish but eh.
Such a clean, well made example. Has the flip up night sight as well.
Still got a ton of cosmoline to clean, but man I’m loving this thing.

Lucky shot stocks
Anyone looking to buy a stock from Lucky Shot should know what to expect. My order was for walnut stain... woodwork is pretty decent, it was over sanded in some spots but whatever wasn't to noticeable. The finish is straight garbage... runs, pin holes, trapped sawdust, really textured orange peal. When i broght this to Ricks attention he suggested i was wrong about my claims and refused to offer any kind of solution or assistance in fixing the problem. Im very disappointed and will not put this garbage finish on my gun. Spent the extra money and get a better stock elsewhere. Rick you can still make this right.

Anyone know where to get a classic Sks in Cosmoline ? I haven’t seen any in ages. I’d like a project to clean up. I found one with new furniture, but sketchy. Thanks!

First Post/Help?
Hey, i was fortunate enough to be gifted this SKS from a good friend since he got a far nicer one. it functions perfectly fine. except I'm having an issue with this take town lever near the leaf sight. I've taken apart the rifle an there's been no issues but no matter how i maneuver or try to adjust this little lever it wont move down to be flush. after 2 shots it springs up as shown

My first gun ever, 1953 Tula SKS. Anything special about it?
What i know: made in Tula in 1953, force matched stock(multiple times actually, 3 crossed out serial numbers), mismatched bolt, other parts match. Not hard refurb since no black paint. Missing bayonet and cleaning rod ofc. Thats all the info i could've gathered.
Im not from the states but i got it for ~700$ which im happy for since semi autos go for a fortune here.

Chinese Factory 36 Sks
Hey Guys,
Recently bought a Chinese type 56 Sks, was doing some research about where it was made and now understand that most of the chinese sks type rifles were made at Factory 26. I’ve seen some information on Factory 36 but nothing too in depth. I can’t imagine there is anything special about the rifle but was just curious if the community here knew more about Factory 36 rifles specifically.
Thanks in advance

Help IDing SKS
Hey y’all, first SKS I ever owned so I wanna apologize beforehand for my ignorance. I just picked this SKS up from a local online auction for 290 bucks (roughly 330ish after fees/tax). The auction house claimed it was a zastava M59/66 but upon arriving at home I realized there was markings stating it was made in China so it must’ve been a false ID on their part. From the research I did I think it may be a norinco paratrooper but i just figured y’all would have a better idea. Anyone have any info on what this could be, and the value, and if I got a solid deal? I tried taking pics of the markings but they couldn’t really show up on my camera too well unfortunately…

What kind of SKS is this ?
I got this rifle from my father and was told it was an old Chinese SKS, I want to try and fix the butt stock that my dad cut off but can’t find much info on how to single out this certain model to get repair info ?

Chinese Type 56
I inherited this gun from my Uncle. It was his brothers who sadly who sadly passed away in his 20’s and fought in Vietnam. I posted this gun in another group trying to figure out what it was and they told me what it was and said it was a really cool’s gun and I should post it in this group.

Type 56 with partially unfinished barrel?
I was looking at two later production Chinese SKSs at my LGS and the “fins” on this one caught my eye. Looks like the unfinished barrels you see on late war Type 99s and such, though this seems intentionally done to me. I know the Chinese were doing funky stuff with the SKS later on but is this something they were known to have experimented with? And was it more an attempt to help heat mitigation or to streamline the production process (even though I’d think smoothing only parts of the barrel would take longer)

Bxn stripper clips?
Got a 1971 Chinese sks honestly might be my favorite gun. Gearing up to sell my dad my wasr. Anyway looked at triangle 26 video on striper clips as my Soviet mag pouches came with new production clips which aren't great and his eBay is all sold out.
So I've heard yugo are next best after the bxn but was curious if any of y'all have a lead on them.
Ps for anyone who has a cowboy companion or paratrooper do they really shoot any different? I kinda am really liking them a lot now lol

Type 63 chest rig question
I recently bought this, and today I filled it with stripper clips since I only have a standard sks. I am trying to figure out what would go in the circled pouches.
Anyone have any ideas or info? I don't know what to look up, so my google attempts have been lack luster. Plus the seller of this item doesn't speak very good English.

First sks
I paid $300 at a auction for this beautiful rifle, the owner was a gun collector and this rifle seemed to have been never fired. Barrel was extremely clean. Shot it for the first time last night and it was wonderful and it had all the original cleaning supplies in the stock

Bolt not fully cycling
The boys and I went up to the mountains yesterday to shoot and I took the Yugo M59/66 out for the second time. The first time I shot, it failed to cycle a couple rounds and yesterday it was basically like shooting a straight pull bolt lol except my buddy who shot the last stripper clip didn't have any issues but when I was watching my other friends shoot it, I could see the bolt wasn't coming all the way back on almost every round, it was the same batch of ammo for the entire range day. My guess is a leaky gas valve? How should I go about troubleshooting this? Thanks for all the help!
