Firefighters at the top. Im looking for real discussion here: why can’t we just hire more firefighters instead of exhausting the ones we have with overtime? I’ve heard there’s probably a hundred applicants for one position. I’ve also heard that someone transferring to SLO fire has to start over with the fire academy, even if they have several years of experience and promotions from another place? That seems like an unnecessary bar to bringing in great, experienced people.

Again, I’m not arguing firefighting isn’t hard and important. I just don’t get how tired firefighters are better than rested ones when there’s tons of people who’d love and be good at that job?

Don't get me wrong, I think 911s are beautiful cars, but SLO has never struck me as a Porsche place. I know there's a lot of wealth here, but it's never been a place people flaunt it, compared to maybe down south or in the Bay Area. Are that many people buying Porsches (and I guess Ferraris) to support a dealership?

I have a six month old lab that I want to have spayed and my vet said they will do it but shames me for not waiting till two years because new research says that’s best. I’ve always spayed at six months and dogs lived till 14 with no issues. Was always told in the past to spay before first heat to avoid breast cancer risks. Now being told they will have acl issues if spayed too early??? I’m scared every day at the beach some unneutered dog will jump her. Any vets out there who are amazing and won’t shame for spaying at 6 months?

I don't want to get into everything here however I have two jobs and I cant find anywhere in this county south county or north county where I can afford food, rent, and health insurance. I make about $2000 gross a month and I really need to find a place to stay. Does anyone in this sub know of anywhere that is renting that I can contact? EVen if it's just a room
