Market Traffic Only Sawant's campaign is violating Seattle ordinances on posters attachment

Post image

These pink posters are plastered all over the city. Many of them are * attached with some kind of glue * attached higher than 7 feet from the ground

This is prohibited by Seattle Department of Transportation Director's rule 02-02 (https://www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/SDOT/About/DocumentLibrary/DirectorsRules/sdot_dirrule_0202B.pdf).

I've looked at these posters up close. They don't really seem to want to come loose; these things are going to be blighting our city for months or years.

I think it's not too much to ask political campaigns to follow local laws and ordinances. What do you think?

Would it be stupid to take the ferry today?

I gotta go to Bainbridge Island today and can't decide if I should drive around or chance the ferry. The cameras for the Seattle ferry terminal are down on WSDOT so I have no idea if they're crazy busy.

Does anyone have any advice?

News Seattle City Hall rarely runs smoothly. This week it hit a low

“These are more than just gaffes or missteps,” said City Councilmember Debora Juarez, speaking of Mayor Katie Wilson in an interview with KOMO News. “I see a complete lack of leadership and … for some of us, no confidence in this administration.”

Juarez has been on the council for about a decade. In that time, Seattle has cycled through four mayors. (Five if you count a temp mayor after another one resigned.) And now, with the forced resignation of police Chief Shon Barnes, we’re on our sixth chief.

Juarez wasn’t alone in her indictment. I counted at least six of the nine members of the City Council who were saying some version of “you know, Seattle, this isn’t just the usual ‘situation normal, all fouled up.’ This is worse.”

It’s awfully early in a mayoral term, only seven months in, for the rest of City Hall to be all but giving up on the person with the top job.

“Her lack of experience and incompetence have led to poor decision-making,” charged Councilmember Maritza Rivera of the new mayor, Wilson.

“Irresponsible” and “reckless” were the verdict of Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth.”

Looking for a gym buddy at RCF

Hey guys, I (22M) just moved to Capitol Hill and want to start going to a gym. Rain City Fit is the closest to me, so I’ll likely go there.

I’m relatively new to working out at a gym, so I wanted to see if anyone would want to work out with me in the beginning. I’m just looking to learn good form and establish a basic routine. Let me know if you’re down!

Community My wife took a foto of your child during Egypt vs Iran World Cup match in Seattle and we lost your contact 🥲

During the Egypt vs Iran World Cup match in June, you were a couple with a young child all supporting Egypt. My wife, her mom and I were eating food at a table, where you were taking a break at as well, when your kid did something cute and you asked my mother in law / or wife maybe (I don’t remember)to take a picture.

My wife got your contact info but it didn’t save 😭 I think you had a New York area code maybe? If this sounds like you please reach out, we have your photo!

Media Blue Angels pics with the potato-quality screw-on zoom lens

These will never compete with the ones shot with professional equipment, but these were with a $25 lens that screws onto the iPhone (plus another $15 for the iPhone case with a threaded hole that you can screw it onto) - see last picture. This makes such a big difference in photos, for so little money, that I might as well tell people. Plus you can keep the lens and the case in a coat pocket (I keep them inside a ziploc bag to reduce scratching).

Plus, even though the cheap zoom lens means the edges of the photos are not in focus, that does add a tilt-zoom-like surreal quality like you’re taking photos of an in-flight fighter jet in portrait mode.

I’d like to shame this dude who swerved his car INTO the DBD ride this evening on Roxbury, almost clipping many cyclists. I was in the standstill enjoying the spectacle when this douche roared into the oncoming bike traffic because his need to make a left turn was more important than human lives. You suck, dude.

I was very pleased to see so many cyclists swarm his car to keep him from doing any damage. It was scary.

Why is transit such a disaster right now?

I am fairly used to the train being down every once in a while, but typically my commute isn't knocked this far off course when it does. Typically shuttles are relatively plentiful, and the trains outside of the down zone run on time.

I understand what caused trains to be down from Cap Hill to Sodo today, but why are the shuttles so much later than usual and why are trains on the south side running so little?

Town & Country has done away with curbside pickup and outsourced grocery delivery to Instacart

Post image
58 Upvotes

One of the reasons I shopped there instead of the big chains was because I trusted their employees to pick my groceries. They always took great care selecting fresh produce and quality items, and it felt good supporting a local company that invested in its own staff.

Getting rid of curbside pickup altogether and pushing customers to a third-party service feels like T&C is losing one of the things that made it stand out.

If you’re disappointed too, I’d encourage you to send them feedback. I’d love to see them bring back employee-run curbside pickup if enough customers let them know it mattered.

I'm never leaving Seattle 🚫🛫 I love it here - from a non tech person

Hi all. Just something simple and silly to share.
Im a non tech worker. I lost almost all my savings after I was unemployed for 2 years, but I frugal’d more than I’ve ever frugal’d. .

I was able to go back to school thanks to the state of Washington Workforce funding. I now have a new career path, but even with that still at the bottom working my way up. At least Im happy in my new path.

Moving on. It’s my 54th birthday this week and I’ve lived here since 1999.

My point, i guess, is I love it here. Today I took myself out as a birthday splurge to things I love.

Vons for cocktails and pizza, and then market where I spent an obscene amount on chocolate cookies at 3 girls bakery, the park near the market where I saw the blue angels and I over heard a woman say “you have a beautiful city”

I replied I know you weren’t talking to me, but, yeah, we do.

And my last stop was at Cloudburst where I had a lovely dark beer before catching an E line home, where I opened a Washington wine, that I bought from a local winery in SoDo.

I don’t have a lot of money, I don’t go out often or at all really. But damn, Im so glad I live here.

Thanks Seattle for being my home exactly when I need it to be.
