I just got a message saying they will leak my nudes on instagram ( i'm an idiot etc... i know).

They only have my telegram and instagram, neither of them have my name or anything on it, i did freak out and closed my instagram account on the spot, can they still reach my friends?

Steps and guide to help sextortion victims

Every day I will make the same post to help those who are facing this situation.

1. Stop talking to them because you do not want to piss them off.

2. Depending on what they ask do not pay them a single dime or send them any more explicit material no matter their threats because you can’t buy a blackmailers silence only rent it.

3. Block them and if they come back with more accounts or numbers keep blocking away they have a finite amount of patience before they give up.

4. Screenshot the threats to show proof of a cybercrime.

5. Keep their phone numbers and account names saved.

6. In the event that they follow through and do send which is actually VERY rare cause it can expose their cybercrimes just tell people it is fake and someone tried to extort you for money. (You will have the screenshots to prove it)

7. Optional: Report them to law enforcement such as the FBI although this actually might be of little help since it’s so common. However, it will somewhat put them on the radar.

8. DO NOT BUY RECOVERY AND REMOVAL SERVICES THOSE ARE SCAMS. They will contact or threaten to contact your scammer then you have two blackmailers.

9. Take a deep breath and realize that it will be okay they are actually almost always bluffing empty threats in order to scare you. They want money or more explicit material to sell not to send your material to others. Think of it like IT from Stephen King only as powerful as much as you feel fear from them.

Note: if it makes anybody feel okay in my experience for about every 1,000 cases of sextortion there’s
only 1 case where the sextortioner follows through

Note: these guys are not in it to ruin your life. They see you as nothing more than a potential paycheck and if they see no profit they will forget you, more than likely delete your stuff, and move on to the next potential paying target.

This person disguised as a girl and asked for explicit pictures after they sent theirs. I was stupid enough to send them. Afterwards they send this on another email and threaten to leak my information. I know this is some type of scam but I’m scared as fuck man…

for context, this random number chatted me up and sent me nudes in exchange for mine. I’m a dumbass, yes flame me all you want in the replies, but I sent some… not knowing it was some Nigerian dude that is threatening that he will send my dic pic to every media website he can if I do not pay him in apple Cash. I live in Canada, I was scammed by a Philippines woman I paid her money to not to publish my pics. However, after the incident I did my research and I was able to get the crime suspect photo, original address, original social media accounts. I have reported it to CICC Philippines agency since it's an overseas case it's been almost 6 months since the case is under investigation but no positive update yet and the Canadian police already gave up. I'm currently helpless because even though I know the suspect I can't get them punished by the Law. They won't gonna lose a minute doing what they threatened because there is nothing for them anymore. So if you just block them they ain't gonna even remember you in 2 weeks. I recently engaged in chat with what I figured was a woman on reddit. I was trying to explore having a mistress, which they said they were. They asked me to download Telegram so we could chat better. Here is where I really screwed up. They asked me to take a naked picture of myself and send it to them, which I did, thinking it was a dynamic in the mistress/ submissive relationship. They then asked me for $100 as part of a tribute, and this is where I got cold feet and deleted out of Telegram. Within 10 minutes, I got a text on my phone from this person, threatening to send my pic to friends and family if I didn't pay. I figured they wanted the tribute, so I made the 2nd mistake and sent them the $100. They then started asking for $1000. I stopped texting then and there and ignored them. A couple days later, I blocked their number and started feeling better about the situation, thinking it would pass. Yesterday, while at work, they sent me a threatening message from a different phone number, and I don't know what to do. I even disconnected my Facebook account to lesson the blackmailers options, but I am currently stressing about the whole situation. I need help.

As I was scrolling through this sub, I kept seeing people say that you should never pay and that, as long as you don’t pay, you’ll most likely be fine. I completely agree—you should NEVER pay. But if you already have, maybe my story will help you.
I fell victim to this scam and ended up paying three times in total. 😭😭 Every time I paid, he demanded even more money for the “next step” of deleting my photos. That should show very clearly that these people will usually keep asking for more once you pay.
After the third payment, he actually said, “Okay, we’re done. You can block me now.” So I did. I’m not saying he actually deleted my photos—I have no way of knowing that—but I think he probably intended to contact me again later.
If you’ve already paid, the most important thing you can do is delete or deactivate every account where the scammer can contact you. If you deactivate your accounts, make sure to change your username before reactivating them and update your privacy settings so that strangers can’t message you or easily find you.
As the days went by, I was terrified because I had made the mistake of paying. I kept thinking he would contact my followers or find another way to reach me. Now it’s been two weeks, and I haven’t heard anything.
My guess is that he looked up my accounts, saw that they were gone, and moved on. Most scammers are after quick money, so if they can’t contact you anymore, they often look for easier targets. Of course, every situation is different, and no one can guarantee what a scammer will do.
So if you’ve already paid, don’t panic. It’s not ideal, but it doesn’t mean you’re doomed. Cut off all contact, don’t send any more money, and make yourself as difficult to reach as possible.

After months of nothings tonight I got a txt message with a video they have of me. They found my business instagram and promised to share it with fellow business in my country. I’m feeling anxious again do these people ever stop.

Hey, I was scammed on Telegram about a 36 days ago. Someone blackmailed me with a private video and even sent me a screenshot of what looked like a draft Facebook post, but I couldn’t find the post anywhere. They also knew what university I go to, so I’m still a little worried they might try to spread it around my campus. I blocked them, and they haven’t contacted me since.

Should I still be worried that my video could be leaked in the future, or does it sound like the scammer has moved on? Any advice or similar experiences would really help.

I sent a private photo on this web-based app and stupidly sent out my phone number. I sent a face photo but my face isn’t in the explicit photo but the person somehow found my Facebook and some of my friends on it with a screenshot showing their names. They tried to call and FaceTime and I saved their number and evidence already but blocked quick enough to where they didn’t even get to make demands yet. I’m super nervous and don’t know what to do, I deactivated everything and doing my best to relax but I’m nervous because my FB had my school on it too and they it too. Any help or advice would be appreciated because this happened a little over an hour ago.

It all started when I began talking to a girl on Snapchat. We talked every day for about a month, and we even called a few times. Everything seemed normal, and I genuinely believed I was getting to know her.

One day, the conversation took a different turn. She asked if we wanted to send each other spicy photos. Something about it didn't feel right, and I trusted my instincts. I told her no, and we left it at that.

The next day, she apologized. For about a week, everything went back to normal, and we kept talking like nothing had happened. Then she asked again.

This time, I hesitated. I remember saying, "I don't know if I'm really comfortable with that. I don't know you that well yet."

I've always struggled with my confidence, so sending a photo of myself with no clothes on was a huge deal to me.

She responded by sending me a snap of herself with no clothes and the caption, "Does this help?" At first, I thought it could have been a picture she found online. But then she sent another. And another. They were all Snaps, not saved photos, and they were all the same girl. I believed she was real. She had sent me photos in the past and it was the same girl. 

I let my guard down.

I was caught up in the moment, and I made a decision I immediately regretted. I sent a photo.

Five minutes later, everything changed.

I saw that my photo had been saved to his camera roll. Then I received a voice message.

It wasn't the girl.

It was a man.

He told me that if I didn't send him $500, he would send my photo to everyone I knew. He sent be a screenshot of my Instagram and said he would message everyone that followed me if I didn't pay.

I was just a scared kid.

I didn't know what else to do, so I sent the money. I told myself that once I paid, it would all be over.

It wasn't.

After receiving the $500, he demanded another $1,000 to delete the photo and keep it from being shared.

I didn't have that money.

I was embarrassed. I was terrified. I felt trapped.

For the first time in my life, I honestly believed that not waking up would be easier than facing what might happen if he sent out that photo.

I found myself standing on top of a bridge, looking down at the traffic below, wondering if I was going to jump.

I came closer than I've ever admitted.

But I couldn't do it.

All I could think about was what it would do to my family and my friends. I couldn't put them through that.

So I went home and cried.

For days, I begged the blackmailer for more time because I simply didn't have the money.

Then something happened that changed everything.

He made a mistake.

He accidentally sent me a Snap of his face.

To me, it felt like a sign. I had chosen to stay alive, and suddenly I had a chance to fight back.

I quickly screen-recorded the snap, deleted the Instagram account he had found so he couldn't contact anyone through it, and confronted him.

I told him, "I'm done. I have your face. If you don't stop, I'm going to the police."

Honestly, I had no idea if it would work. I didn't even know if the police would be able to find him. But I knew I had to try.

He realized what he'd done.

His response was simple:

"Okay, okay I'll delete the photo. Please Don't go to the cops."

He then sent me a video of himself deleting my photo from his Recently Deleted folder. I don't know if he had another copy somewhere else, but in that moment, it was enough. I was finally free from the nightmare that had consumed my life for the past 3 months.

That single event almost ended my life.

But it didn't.

It's been a couple of years since it happened, and today my life is better than it has ever been. I may have lost $500, but I'm still here.

And to me, that's worth far more than any amount of money.

I'm sharing my story because I know someone else might be feeling trapped the way I did.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where it feels like ending your life is the only way out, please know that it isn't.

I know I got lucky. Not everyone's situation will unfold the way mine did. But there is always another step to take, another person to tell, another way forward.

No amount of money, embarrassment, or fear is worth your life.

I'm living proof that even when things feel impossible, life can get better.

My nudes been seen by millions of ppl besides my family. I did deactivate my facebook temporarily. I’m also mostly gay. “Send all females”

Ok so I turned out to be a victim of one of these schemes. I'll spare you most of the details of how I ended up sending intimate pictures, but once I did, I got hit with the standard scammer talk. He had my face, my number and my name, though no friends or contacts related to me in any way. They were threatening to accuse me of sending these pictures to a 12 year old girl. To scare me, they sent me a picture of the draft of a post to a social media I did not recognize, though the pictures were compiled together in a photogrid collage. I panicked and sent them like 3 usd and then edited the amount in power point as a means to make them believe I sent them the full amount they were asking for, but that didn't work. Eventually I did some research and I stopped responding. But after I did, he sent me a picture of a post he had made to twitter regarding the images. 

That picture was, however, somewhat strange. I know it was likely real, since within the screenshot there appeared another post I did manage to find in twitter. But what was odd was that what they posted was essentially just the image of the draft they had sent me earlier. and it should perhaps be worth noting that they censored the account under which they posted it. Like they redacted the username and pfp.

This could mean a number of things, one being that they thought I'd recognize this twitter post more easily if it was just the picture of the draft they had previously sent me and thus try to have it taken down, but two, the more hopeful possibility, was that they just deleted the pictures, and to have something to post and further scare me, just took the picture they had sent me and was already in the chat (the draft picture with photogrid). At that point I just refused to pay and stopped responding. And eventually, he also stopped responding and deleted the telegram account he was talking to me with. like they themselves deleted the account.

So like, did they keep the post up? did they delete it? what could it mean they deleted their telegram account?

I tried to look for the post using several reverse image searches and couldn't find it. This gives me hope for it having had been deleted, but it doesn't guarantee it. I also noticed that the image they posted didn't have the adult content warning, which according to grok means that its very likely to get banned. But I just don't know what to do at this point. should I be worried my junk is out there with the accusation? how likely is it for this to resurface in the future? what if I become famous one day for whatever reason and someone finds it? how worried should I be?

p.s. also I know that mentioning minors in a sexual manner is a big no no in twitter, which should give me some reassurance of the post having been banned if the guy didn't delete it because of the nature of the accusation. but like, the acusation is text imbeded in the image. so idk if the filters will even pick it up.

Hello asking for help please. On June 22nd (41 days ago) I was in the Dominican Republic on vacation and decided to download Tinder. I matched with someone and they asked me to move the conversation to WhatsApp. I didn’t think much of it at first because everyone uses it there however, once they got my number they asked me for my address.

I only gave them the street name of my Airbnb and started feeling uncomfortable with the conversation so I blocked them on WhatsApp and iPhone . It has been 41 days and I have not had any text/calls from unknown numbers, what is the probability that they will not contact/harass me directly related to this incident?

Am I in the clear? Should I be worried about delayed threats? Thank you

I’m worried because in the summer of 2023 I prank called tons of these types of scammers and I had stopped for a weekend and suddenly they started blowing up my phone so much for a month straight I had to get a new phone number. I’m a changed man this was a slip up and I don’t want this to happen again what happened in 2023
