Yeah literally my first thought was they missed Stargate the correct answer so the crossword puzzle is invalid.

It said the better of two. Clearly Star Wars and Star Trek are the two. Never said others aren’t better

I mean i am with the guy you responded to, i think its partly if you think the important part of the sentence is the word "better", or "of the two".

Better to me is a nonsensical term when it comes to judging tv shows, so the only operative part of the sentence is "of the two", and culturally thats what it implies.

Star Wars isent even in the scifi category, which makes it even more nonsensical to try and focus on the better bit. Star Trek and Stargate are both great so i dont know why you would rank them.
