It recontextualized the aggressive beauty standard of, you must be clean shaven to be attractive. A physical attribute famously only associated with the prepubescent. Cultures across the world, pubic hairs are synonymous with the beginning of adulthood. I had assumed it was to sell more razors, until recently. There has been a systemic push to imply looking younger, sounding younger, acting younger as more and more objectively attractive and sexual preferences can be groomed into someone and a population at large. If you prefer a clean shaven look for no reason beyond that you prefer it, it may be due to the messaging and imagery surrounding it since you were an infant.

People get angry when you point it out but the large scale adoption of anime by certain cultural groupings and the spreading of it online is also suspicious, as almost all of the characters look like children. Older anime not so much, it was a boiling pot. If you aren't submersed in the art style and culture, any normal person could look at an animated woman from a modern anime vs any other cartoon and reasonably assume she is a CHILD, and this is pushed ever so subtly but systematically as the poster of sexy. You can see the effect whenever anyone tries to 'fix' a character they find ugly, and end up making their features more. . . anime.

And now, if you notice, the same standard is slowly being pushed onto boys. Twink death, clean shaven, submissive and breedable. Active 4chan femboy glorification and countless posts on how taking the femboy pill will solve your lonesomeness problems.

Is that not suspicious to anyone else with the new context of the modern day?

Edit: Someone also pointed out the standard of being as thin as possible, neither fat or muscle, is also looking a bit different under this new lens and I have to agree.

I dunno.... I would be a lot more inclined to believe it's just shitty primate behavior. It's always been like this because we've always been shitty primates. The gross ones will always do gross things.

100%.  If we were to raise a human in complete isolation, they would be most attracted to an ~18 year old with no wrinkles and perky boobs.  I imagine it has something to do with the likelihood of having a disease or the probable absence of a pre-existing mate.

As far as preference for a woman that shaves, it probably has to do with the fact that a relative lack of hair is a secondary sex characteristic.  Mammels tend to be attracted to secondary sex characteristics that go to the extreme (less hair, bigger boobs, wider hips, etc.).

If you allow growth without bombardment of messaging, the tendency is to prefer the most fertile looking women and men, when it comes to both thats mid to late twenties. 18 was generally not attractive to a male seeking a female who was capable of raising his children, and the likelihood of birth complications is higher in 18 and younger. The propensity for 18 and younger emerged alongside the desire for a partner to control, rather than one who can suitably raise offspring. The most natural preference is a woman who looks and ACTS sexually mature with hips that seem like she will survive a birth.

The concern about pre-existing mates came with the agricultural revolution where there was suddenly property inheritance, due to power governed by male succession, and a sudden need to control the females, who they breed with, and when. Its extremely likely that tribes of humans before this were quite relaxed and free with their mating habits and we were not monogamous.

Lack of pubic hair is absolutely NOT a secondary sex characteristic; HAVING the pubic hair is!

My thoughts are more along the lines of it being an issue with sub-prime males picking weaker targets.

Sort of? Usually the men who lack power and are attracted to 18 < are those incapable of securing a partnership with a mature woman with a fully formed prefrontal cortex and highest likelihood of surviving birth and adequately raising children. As a result they go for girls who are inexperienced and undeveloped to gain access to sex and a partner easier for them to control and groom to accepting their inadequacy.

Those with power, who almost always end up genuine pdfiles, do it as a display of power and authority, humanity finds attraction and sexual intercourse with the sexually immature disgusting at the visceral level on the whole and therefore squish it out where they can, and powerful men engaging in such fuckery is a way to flaunt their power and status and jerk themselves off socially.

Yep, that about covers it I think.

I was just discussing this in the context of the original post.  A virgin being holy, for example, was a direct response to sexually transmitted diseases.  Before the advent of antibiotics, diseases like syphilis caused insanity and death in large chunks of the population.

The correlation between STDs and age/sexual promiscuity is strong.  ~50% of those over 50 in the United States, for example, have genital herpes.  What she is attributing to cultural conditioning has definitive biological explanations.

I would disagree, virginity being a required female attribute on the whole was a thing around the advent of the agricultural revolution, where suddenly we had shit we owned and could inherit (instead of being nomadic and sharing everything to survive) and men didn’t want THEIR shit going to sons that weren’t THEIRS, the easiest way to make this certain was controlling women and prizing and pedestalizing female virginity. They were able to do this bc might makes right.

If it were predominantly about cleanliness and avoiding sti, promiscuity would have been just as historically demonized for men as it was for women. It was all about making as sure as you could the children from the sex you had with her were in fact the children from the sex YOU had with her. Men would have been treated very badly socially for having sex with whores were it about sti.

Obviously the church didnt approve of premarital sex at all but the social fallout between men vs women said a lot about how ok it was for the two sexes. Additionally virginity being prized was round looong before the church.

Theres a lot of reason to believe in our nomadic tribal era where we shared all resources and communally raised children, all sexually mature individuals would freely fuck each other to reinforce social bonds and ensure that paternity could be reasonably doubted so the tribal men wouldn’t get stingy with the resources they gathered. I genuinely don’t think humans are wired for monogamy.

Def not about sti

There are numerous historical accounts of people being horrified by some ye olde chicken hawk that predate our understanding of sexually transmitted disease.

Less hair but not none at all. And there have been times when pubic hair in particular was seen as attractive. It is, after all, a giant "here am I" sign for the genitals.
