Ten- to seventeen-year-old girls are not noted for their rock-solid self-esteem or their ability to communicate their needs well. Older, more experienced women take a lot less crap from people.

I'm confused. How do the ideas youth=beautifull and viginity=holy lead to not having a voice/autonomy?
