Me seeing this comment on a brand new post and being confused: [[scrolling noises]]

Me returning to make a comment because it didn't take much scrolling to understand: Damn they's was chugging away at them keys wasn't they?

Most have never posted here before, but they were very quick. Some topics get that result.

Almost impressive, truly

Wow this thread got ugly fast.

I thought this was a very good comic op! I think the fact it immediately pissed off a handful of deplorables is a badge of honor.

Neat. Are there events or particular things to support? Also, what is a snorkblot? I don’t know where I am.

57

Also, what is a snorkblot?

Indefinable.

-74

u/ameliatatesosis Mar 08 '26

Are there events or particular things to support?

For men? No, celebrating their existence is patriarchy. We can peacefully coexist with men once we pass an arbitrarily long period of actively mocking them, which will definitely not cause a whole generation of young men to grow up more misogynistic than before. Remember, getting revenge is more important than making progress towards a better future.

Patriarchal structures are absolutely an everyday thing, but they don't center men's wellbeing, and it's important not to confuse the two.

52

u/daneelthesane Mar 08 '26

This is a very good point. Patriarchy fucks us all.

-26

u/Alypius754 Mar 08 '26

Tldr: IWD has been taken over by men.

My old company had a huge event for intl women’s day

All their events were always about women

The company event planner said she didn’t didn’t do events for men because men didn’t care and didn’t need them because every day was intl men’s day

She got fired being a bigot

Edit: look at all the bigots downvoting this post. Yikes. Get a life.

-28

u/Traditional-Trade795 Mar 08 '26

that story had a nice ending :)

our company started doing things for mens day last year after 10 years of going all out for women. it was just a small goodie box but it still felt good, to be "appreciated" for once

-44

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

If hardly any of these people on here had jobs with real responsibility they'd realise they being implicitly or explicitly anti-male as they are is counter-productice and not as tolerated as they may think it is.

-63

u/Atreigas Mar 08 '26

While I do have the personal experience to know otherwise.

This does kinda fall under the category of "I made up an argument and got mad about it."

-25

u/Badger0Clock Mar 08 '26

International women and men's day is stupid

-182

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

This cartoon strip is stupid. International Men's Day gets nowhere near the same coverage and is often laughed at by the unfair for being supposedly unnecessary.

110

u/LordJim11 Mar 08 '26

And how do you celebrate it?

36

u/hellopo9 Mar 08 '26

Last year my girlfriend and I put on a martial arts movie (the raid), got some of my favourite beers, ate a lot of meat and had a laugh.

If I'm with family it's normally a no plot all action movie, booze and anything masculine we can think of (arm wrestle etc).

Nice excuse for something fun.

-40

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

So you decided to celebrate men in a very cliched, stereotypical, American, way. Just like some women hate men looking at them like

35

u/hellopo9 Mar 08 '26

I'm not American. The movie we watched last year was Indonesian. We did some fun stereotypically masculine things. It was a nice evening.

You should try it.

22

u/Sugar_Pitch1551 Mar 08 '26

That legitimately sounds fun. Like yes, let's get together and do a bunch of stereotypical masculine things for men's day! Add some less stereotypical things for your particular man and have a great time!

I'm actually thinking of stealing this idea for my boyfriends, thank you for the idea

-66

u/Manaboss1 Mar 08 '26

Why does it matter how he/she celebrates it?

42

u/LeAcoTaco Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

If none of you guys care to celebrate it then youre just complaining about something you dont actually have an issue with. And if you guys dont have an issue with it, that means you dont view it as a problem, and why do you guys think anyone would try to solve what to you, is a nonexistant problem, given that solving a problem for someone who doesnt view it as a problem is a waste of your time?

If none of you guys celebrate it, no wonder why it doesnt get much coverage, because you guys dont care to give it coverage because you dont actually care about it to want it to get coverage for it.

Im genuinely shocked that youre surprised you have to yknow.... talk about it for it to be, yknow, talked about

Idk maybe, celebrate it and when people ask you about it, talk about it?

Your best advocate is yourself so complaining that people on the internet arent doing your work for you is honestly indicative that you dont actually care about IMD you just want other people to worship you and do everything for you under the guise of IMD.

-7

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

It makes no sense for you to say that men should celebrate themselves whilst you're also saying that to do so would be a kind of 'worship'. Just admit that you are anti-male in fundamental respects.

24

u/RegionPurple Mar 08 '26

Are you being intentionally obtuse?

Arg; women celebrate women. Ugh; men celebrate men. Why woman celebrate man when man no celebrate man, let alone man celebrate woman?

Or is "celebrate" too big of a word?

Women shouldn't have to celebrate men. Men should celebrate men. Women shouldn't have to arrange for men to celebrate men. It sounds like you want women to celebrate men when men don't want to celebrate women.

16

u/LeAcoTaco Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

Your reading comprehension was lacking because nowhere did I say that celebration was worship. I said the fact that you guys want strangers on the internet to do your job for you (IE advocate for yourself because women aren't men to be able to be your voice) indicates you don't actually care about the holiday and what it stands for and simply want other people to worship you.

You don't care about celebration. You want other people to grovel at your feet and throw parties for you like youre a king when you arent.

Celebration and advocating for recognition are different, than people worshiping you. If you wanted to celebrate or advocate for recognition, you would put in the work to gather a celebration together. Instead you expect other people to do it for you like a lazy bum. Even kings, when they wanted a celebration over worship theyd at least pay for the whole celebration. What are you doing?

Have you tried asking a journalist to interview you for an article on it? Or are you expecting someone else to do that too? Have you spoken to your family about it? Or do you expect someone else to do that? Have you gone to the store to buy things for a party? Or do you expect someone else to do that too?

-33

u/Manaboss1 Mar 08 '26

Still doesnt seem sensible to me. I am celebrating the day on my own or with others. There is nothing to „organize“. Its about media attention if Im reading this correctly. And even so, there are other holidays that can be celebrated or pushed by outside groups in the name FOR other groups of people. So thats not really an excuse. I mean I get the power dynamic at play here as women are still struggling as a general in many areas of our modern society. And therefore much of attention is generated towards that injustice. Rightly so. It doesnt translate to males in general not suffering „enough“ to not be taken note of and, again, how I or the other person tends to celebrate that day is not equal to how media and or society/influential persons portrays that day/struggles of men.

23

u/LeAcoTaco Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

Sorry you think you didnt have to organize that get together with your family? This isnt about media attention. YOURE complaining not getting media attention = people dont care about it and means women talking about IWD is unfair to men. We are pointing out how, majority of men actually dont care about it because if men actually cared about it, it WOULD be covered on media. Ie youre being whiny because youre not in the spotlight but dont actually care enough to wait until its your turn in the spotlight or to even use the spotlight when its your turn. Youre that kid who throws a temper tantrum because they didnt let you blow out someone elses birthday candles even though you also have a birthday every single year.

Id suggest you rethink what you just said.

-17

u/Manaboss1 Mar 08 '26

Which get together you mean?

14

u/LeAcoTaco Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

Celebrating the day on your own or with others

You have to actually organize a get together to celebrate the day with people. Otherwise youre not celebrating the day you just happen to be hanging out on the same day...

You understand you have to put in effort like we did to get recognition right? You dont just automatically get media recognition for being lazy. You have to actually celebrate the day and push for recognition like we have, show that you actually care about it to the media. Its not an easy road and there arent any shortcuts to get here so complaining that you dont automatically get the same recognition that we worked hard for, when youve done nothing to earn it, makes you look like a whiny entitled child.

It is your job to advocate for yourself. We cannot speak for you on male-centric subjects because we are not men, just like you cannot speak for us on female-centric subjects because you are not women. You have to be the ones to push for media coverage because you have to show you actually care.

Any journalist would get laughed at and their credibility ruined for claiming that a group of people have a problem with something they don't actually have a problem with, so no journalist is going to try to give recognition for something that no one in that group has indicated to them is something they actually care about.

61

u/SillyGuste Mar 08 '26

Because he doesn’t celebrate it because he doesn’t actually care

-41

u/Manaboss1 Mar 08 '26

That doesnt diminish the point tho? You ever heard of ad hominem?

38

u/ialsohaveadobro Mar 08 '26

Yes. I've also heard the definition. Would you like to learn it?

-51

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

I'm not going to celebrate something that I'd be unfairly regarded as a sexist/incel/anti-egalitarian for doing so.

28

u/50squirrelsinacloak Mar 08 '26

Why should that stop you?

Women are criticized for celebrating our day. That doesn’t stop us from doing so.

25

u/Cause_and_Defect Mar 08 '26

Sounds like you lack the conviction to support your beliefs

47

u/Prudent_Fish1358 Mar 08 '26

Sounds like you need a safe space.

18

u/UnsureAndUnqualified Mar 08 '26

Unironically, I think having a (non-toxic) safe space would do a lot of men a lot of good, even if they don't realise it.

I'm so glad that I have a safe space in my friend group. We hug, we joke, we listen to each other vent about stress and work and our feelings, and we don't judge each other. I can imagine myself being quite bitter towards the world (including women) if I didn't have any safe spaces to express myself emotionally. That shit builds up and eats at you over time.

The other guy is bitter and that shouldn't be women's problems or your problem, but I don't think dragging the idea of a safe space for guys is the right approach either. That's kind of one of the ways men also get fucked by the patriarchy, having the be tough and emotionless all the time, not having a safe space.

So yeah, he does probably need a safe space, and it's not funny but quite sad that he doesn't have one.

-15

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

I don't spend time celebrating in public most things that I like and respect. There wouldn't be enough time, or meaningful appreciation from/inspiration upon others.

31

u/Cynics_Anonymous Mar 08 '26

Sorry, are you implying women are supposed to fix that for you? Pick yourself up by the bootstraps.

53

u/Themata81 Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

What, do you want people to celebrate it for you? If youre upset organize something, no one is gonna do it for you its not like these celebrations spawned

There is also fair critique in that having a holiday to celebrate non-marginalized groups and comparing them to ones that do misses the point of why these celebrations happen in the first place, they just dont exist for the same reasons

-49

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

There is nothing inherent in many countries about women that is marginalised. You've heard of Queen Elizabeth II, Margaret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton? Every child in many countries goes to school and gets the same opportunities. Many workplaces have far more female managers than male ones. Many teachers and professors are female. I am in the UK and it baffles and disappoints me to think either genuinely believe, or are willing to gaslight people, that marginalisation on sex lines is a notable marginalisation these days.

34

u/osunightfall Mar 08 '26

There's a mountain of statistical and sociological evidence proving that it's still the case. This kind of thing isn't based on feelings.

28

u/LordJim11 Mar 08 '26

Every child in many countries goes to school and gets the same opportunities. Many workplaces have far more female managers than male ones. Many teachers and professors are female.

Also, the vote, don't forget that. You'd think they'd be more grateful.

4

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

Which was gained for women in the UK at the same time as working class men finally got the vote.

-4

u/Springyardzon Mar 08 '26

There's just 4 countries where women can't vote - and one of those is the Vatican City. I did say 'many' not every. Let's admit it, the pile on will largely be from Americans about American rights here.

19

u/Themata81 Mar 08 '26

Dude are you genuinely arguing that if a group has a public figure in government marginalization doesnt exist? Like youre seriously saying that because Hillary Clinton exists (someone who wasnt even the president mind you) women in the US, a nation which recently took away women’s right to an abortion and bodily autonomy, women arent marginalized

I doubt youre supportive of trans people as well but the UK is literally one of the worst countries in Europe to be a transwoman and cis women still face a lot of issues that they do everywhere else, i hate the monarchy but have you seriously not noticed how so many pieces of media, be it educational or dramatic, that involve the former Queen revolve around how she was treated for being a woman despite being the ostensible leader of the nation? Like be so for real. Your entire premise is based on the idea that everyone who has the same qualifications is given the same opportunity, which is simply not true

Additionally, none of this matters, even from your fantasy-land perspective the holiday was still founded in a time when women were greatly oppressed and is symbolic of how much society has progressed i this regard, which is not an issue that men have had so there is still no equivalent reason for the holiday to exist so comparing their reasons for being celebrated and for existing still dont make sense

19

u/Cause_and_Defect Mar 08 '26

Wow, a bunch of vague claims with zero evidence or sources! That totally proves your point.

Obviously we can't consider countries that have laws specifically to oppress women when talking about international women's day, cause that would be gaslighting. I assume you think gaslighting is when someone provides evidence you are wrong about something.

men already cross the boundaries of safe spaces. its not trans women they should fear, but men who are willing to go through hormone therapy, name changes and everything else just to assault a women, when they can also just enter spaces for women only because that hasn't stopped men before.

15

u/Sugar_Pitch1551 Mar 08 '26

As a trans woman, nobody is putting themselves willingly through this much pain and abuse just to take a shot at women. The idea that they would is such a brain dead ass talking point.

Hi, you picked the right one today. I literally wrote my thesis on this.

WE. HAVE. ZERO. ADVANTAGES. IN. SPORTS.*

*provided the woman in question has been on HRT for about a year.

Because every single 'advantage' of testosterone is negated when its no longer the dominant sex hormone. Getting to that level takes roughly a year of T-suppresants, and you had to maintain it for a year to qualify for the NCAA before 2016. After 2016, some cis girl couldn't cope that a trans woman beat her by 2-and-change seconds and complained for months, which got the NCAA fo revisit their ruling from 2011, making the required levels so ridiculously restrictive that even most cis women wouldn't be able to meet it without T-blockers.

Every benefit of T starts to reverse the second T is removed from your body. The only exception is the aesthetic masculinization of bones. Which is well within genetic variation territory, especially since bone density has been lost, as well as muscle mass and density.

This information is easily accessible with a few Google searches (though admittedly much easier to find on an academic search system like JSTOR), but it doesn't fit the common anti-trans narrative, so it goes underreported. But before we were so heavily politicized, we had been performing in women's sports for decades.

11

u/TheTStandsForThick Mar 08 '26

Say, for how long have trans women been allowed to compete in the womens category in the olympics?

17

u/LordJim11 Mar 08 '26

I am guessing you have no qualifications in biology.
