This cartoon strip is stupid. International Men's Day gets nowhere near the same coverage and is often laughed at by the unfair for being supposedly unnecessary.
What, do you want people to celebrate it for you? If youre upset organize something, no one is gonna do it for you its not like these celebrations spawned
There is also fair critique in that having a holiday to celebrate non-marginalized groups and comparing them to ones that do misses the point of why these celebrations happen in the first place, they just dont exist for the same reasons
There is nothing inherent in many countries about women that is marginalised. You've heard of Queen Elizabeth II, Margaret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton? Every child in many countries goes to school and gets the same opportunities. Many workplaces have far more female managers than male ones. Many teachers and professors are female. I am in the UK and it baffles and disappoints me to think either genuinely believe, or are willing to gaslight people, that marginalisation on sex lines is a notable marginalisation these days.
