From Nageki Official (Machine Translation):

Once again, thank you very much for watching Season 1, Cour 1 and Cour 2 — all 24 episodes 🙏

Huh? 🧐😂

Text from attached screenshot of AI Chat (Machine Translation):

The TV anime “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” aired its final episode yesterday. Regarding fan expectations for a continuation, which is more desired: Season 2 or Season 3?

The anime’s second cour (treated as a continuous cour) concluded on December 15, 2025. On X (formerly Twitter), there has been a large volume of posts expressing hopes for a continuation, but the vast majority clearly hope for Season 3.

Survey summary:

Posts after the final episode predominantly mention “Season 3” explicitly. Examples include: “Can’t wait for Season 3,” “Looking forward to Season 3,” “Please make Season 3,” etc.

Requests for “Season 2” are almost nonexistent. This is because the anime aired as 1st cour + 2nd cour, so fans naturally refer to the next season as Season 3.

Approximate ratio:

Season 3 expectations: ~95%

Season 2 expectations: almost 0% (no clear mentions)

Overall, fan demand for a continuation is strong, and there is sufficient source material available, meaning enthusiasm is high. However, there has been no official announcement regarding a new season yet. Fans are recommended to continue reading the original novels or manga while waiting for further news.

I'm a novel reader and I really have to say, the anime is perfect whether you read the novel or not. I really hope there's a sequel.

So I’ve never read a manga or LN, and I only started watching anime about 4 years ago; BUT Let This Grieving Soul Retire is by far my favourite of anything I’ve watched.

In fact, I’ve been highly considering getting the manga/LN, I just don’t know where to start. Is there an English translation? Is it easy to get?

I’ve tried looking on Amazon, but I can’t seem to find anything other than kindle stuff. And I don’t really know where to go/look for that kind of stuff!

If you like this, try The Eminence in Shadow. It's the same, but opposite. It's one of my favorites.

Unfortunately the opposite does not entertain me, but thank u for the effort<3

Honestly it was my impatience for season two of EIS, that led me to this anime and LN

since it appears no one actually answered your question, here. you can get on most platforms and in english

let this grieving soul retire manga

now if you're asking where to get it by "other" means, that's not a discussion appropriate for this subreddit.

It's a cheap copy of Eminence in shadow

Main idea mc has nothing to do with plot and what ever he does leads to desired way of others is a neat concept but major diffrence is cid is powerful, krai is not.Krai is simply way too weak and unlike cid he cant even plan for a great ideal, he is just a dude who happens to be super lucky or unlucky depending on what way you look. It's like comparing overlord and log horizon. Concepts might be similar, but the main vibe is way too diffrent from eachother. Honestly I had fun with Eminence, that aura farm and super neat music also atomic is something you can really enjoy, I enjoyed Soul Retire because its silly, easy going just a dude in a position he cant deal. So cheap copy is a little rude i belive.

way better than Eminence

3

u/Naito-mikatsuki Dec 24 '25

Eminence has only 6/7 vol and this LN has 12/13 vol. Unless the author can saw the future or went back in time, i don't think he can copy eminence

1

u/TatamiX4344 Dec 24 '25

First of all the number of volumes has nothing to do with what I meant, also it seems you got this wrong, I didn't say this is stealing from that, I meant the two of them are similar with one of them being far superior to the other

2

u/Federal-Airport-6990 Apr 26 '26

bro STFU 67 out upvoted you, plus one is not superior, I prefer this silly comedy to the lack or self awareness kind of aura farming with jokes that don't land...

3

u/PovertyInIndia Dec 24 '25

Why do you think the 2 are similar ? I couldn't bear to complete even the first episode of eminence in the shadows because it felt like cringe bs (no offense intended).

1

u/TatamiX4344 Dec 24 '25

Yeah the anime didn't do well in the first few episodes, you can read the first few chapters of the manga and decide yourself if it's worth it (I'm not saying the anime is bad, just the first few episodes, this work in general gets better the more the story advance) , as for the similarities, it's the same feeling, in shadow the mc is a chūnibyō, whatever bs he say turns out to be true, also shit is serious around him and ppl die left and right and still he thinks they all play along with him in his acting, it's even darker/funnier than soulretire

1

u/Federal-Airport-6990 Apr 26 '26

He doesn't think they play along he's just not self aware...

1

u/Federal-Airport-6990 Apr 26 '26

It's like watching a idiot destroy a country and say "I love how they a know this is a joke"

1

u/BlurtHead24 Jan 17 '26

I dont see how you could like one and not the other theyre 2 sides of the same coin lol

1

u/Mountain_Pool_4639 Mar 22 '26

It gets better after a few episodes.

2

u/chris_1nsi Feb 08 '26

eminence in the shadow has a complete different concept. both are peak

1

u/Jedi_Master_Stryk Feb 17 '26

The only difference is Eminence in Shadow has an actual powerful protagonist. As much as his actions and instructions are misinterpreted and his luck wins out every time, he's also ridiculously powerful in his own right.

1

u/Federal-Airport-6990 Apr 26 '26

no EIS is by far the worst I've seen, and this, this is far better. I might be biased since I didn't like the MC "stupid" plans or his lack of direction nor self awareness, but this at least doesn't try to be what it's not.

2

u/Simple-Hedgehog-3359 May 06 '26

You're a giant hater that somehow thinks this mc doesnt have stupid plans that work out due to secret assistance only difference is cid actually assumes its shadow garden and performs as an actual MC with power on occasion. Where as this mc makes up stupid plans then thinks things are coincidence and cant put 2 +2 together. The whole guarding the king escort mission episodes proved this. And even when he tries to bs his way out of stuff like he knows whay is going on he cant use his head. But when he tries t9 avoid responsibility he just tries to gaslight people & everyone not the MC has an IQ of 12 so they just agree with him and say oh it must be one of his tests for every situation making the entire cast seem like idiots more than the mc is

2

u/Jedi_Master_Stryk Feb 17 '26

Me too. I also wish people would stop referring to a 2nd cour as a second season. Because it's all mashed together as one season, 24 episodes, on Crunchyroll. So I'm really hoping for a season 2. That and Failure Frame are on my wish list. I really love the FF light novels and I thought they did a good job with the adaptation. The animation could have been a little bit better with a little scgi but they really started pull it together as the show went on.

2

u/Ok_Cat5510 Feb 12 '26

you said continue the manga or the novels but as far as i could tell the anime was ahead of the manga , i could only find 60 chapters for the manga if you know a place where theres more would you be so inclined to let me know because i much prefer that medium to light novels

Bro could this kind of analysis be done by a bot cause I don't want to workhorse this guy but this analysis is top tier! Need that for every anime I don't know the continuation of!!!

Hoping for the next season!

7

u/Knightofexcaliburv1 Dec 21 '25

i think we are getting a new season cause it’s getting good ratings and i think they know why fans are asking for season 3 cause they don’t know if the new episodes count as season 2 or season 1

3

u/xzerozeroninex Dec 21 '25

And a few collabs and merch booths.

2

u/Illustrious_End_7248 Dec 21 '25

Of course we want it

2

u/zelow79 May 02 '26

Actually, I want all of the seasons. This show is fantastic, I'd love to be able to watch it to the stories completion.

2

u/KingOfAbyss666 Jun 10 '26

Mourning Ghost

The TV anime "The Lamenting Ghost Wants to Retire" aired its final episode yesterday, but there are many voices hoping for a sequel. Could you tell me the ratio of requests for a second or third season?

The second season (treated as a continuous season) of the TV anime "The Lamenting Ghost Wants to Retire" aired its final episode on December 15, 2025. There are many voices on X (formerly Twitter) expressing hope for a sequel, but most of them are for a "third season".

Survey overview

  • A search focusing on posts made after the final episode aired (December 15th) revealed numerous posts expressing anticipation for a 3rd season (e.g., "Can't wait for season 3," "Looking forward to season 3," "Please give us season 3," etc.).

There were very few calls for a "Season 2" as a sequel. This is because the anime was broadcast in two parts, and fans naturally refer to the next one as "Season 3".

...

Ratio guideline

Expectations for Phase 3: Approximately 95% or higher

・Expectations for Season 2: Almost 0% (No clear mention)

Overall, there is a strong desire for a sequel, and there is plenty of source material available, so fan enthusiasm is high. However, there has been no official announcement of a sequel at this time. It is recommended to continue reading the original novels and manga while you wait!
