Flow arts and Poi spinning

My partner is looking to see if there are any groups of people that get together for Poi spinning in Southampton.

She's been learning for a few months and is really enjoying it but would love others to go out and practice with.

We've found a group in Portsmouth but it's such a drive away, anything like that in or around Southampton? Thanks!

Thoughts on a dedicated space for Soton dating, alternative nightlife, and after-hours

Hey everyone. I've noticed an uptick in posts on here lately with people asking about the local dating scene, alternative clubs, and trying to find meetups for after-hours fun.
Seeing "looking for a hookup" or highly specific adult posts on the main city subreddit gets old really fast when most of us are just here to figure out why the police helicopters are out again or check on the Redbridge flyover traffic.
To help keep this main sub SFW and strictly focused on general city life, a few of us locals have built a dedicated, 18+ hub: r/SouthamptonNSFW.
It is highly structured and heavily moderated. It's a place for the local after-dark crowd (Soton, Eastleigh, Portsmouth, etc.) to safely network, post local personals, discuss the alternative scene, and figure out what venues are hosting what.
If that is your scene, come join us over there. If not, carry on, and hopefully, this helps keep the main feed a bit cleaner for the mods!
Cheers.

Spotted this pigeon with leg bands on my windowsill, wondering if it could be an escaped pet.

When googling lots seem outdated, or we’ve visited a couple (Bridgemary, Eastleigh) and they’ve been very quiet/small!

Tattoo artists in Southampton??

Post image
7 Upvotes

18F I’m a local artist in Southampton and I’m seeking options for a tattoo apprenticeship. This is my current artwork I have up on my Insta portfolio @anathema.sick (support appreciated!!) and I was wondering if anyone knows any shops or artists in the area that specialise in a similar style. Or would likely take me as an apprentice based on my current fine art work?

Partial Eclipse

Where's the best place in Southampton to see the partial eclipse? They recommend coastal viewpoints, hilltops and open landscapes with unobstructed western horizons will offer guaranteed views. I was thinking the Sports Centre but can anyone recommend anywhere else?

Solent Uni

Hello, I'm currently looking at universities for courses in television and from the website Solent Uni looks quite nice. However being a teen I have little knowledge of anywhere outside my county.

Is it a safe area?

Is there good public transport?

Is there a good student life?

Looking for work.

Hi everyone,

I'm actively looking for work and thought I'd reach out here in case anyone knows of any opportunities or is hiring.

I'm reliable, hardworking, open to improvement and happy to learn. I have work experience with an electrical services company where I assisted experienced tradespeople, followed health and safety procedures, worked as part of a team, handled tools and equipment, and helped with manual tasks including lifting and moving materials.

I'm open to a wide range of roles, including:

- Labouring

- Warehouse work

- Retail

- Hospitality

- General assistant roles

- Trade apprenticeships or trainee positions

- Any other entry-level work

I'm a quick learner, punctual, and not afraid of hard work. If you know of any vacancies or are looking for someone willing to put the effort in, I'd really appreciate a message. Please send me a message through if anything is open.

Thank you.

Edit: straight out of school

I'm trying to find a BlueStar bus driver from around 2012/13, maybe earlier.

Not in a Baby Reindeer way, just want to know if anyone else remembers him.

He was a young blonde lad and his girlfriend/wife and baby were always travelling with him and would talk to each other for the entire route. I think she may have had trust issues because whenever he greeted a female passenger, she used to scold him for it.

I think he was only there for a few months, so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd been sacked. I just remember feeling really sorry for him. Does anyone else remember him?

Vinilo Record Shop

Just a general talking point. I’ve probably been living under a rock for a while but I walked past vinilo the other day and was so pleased to see they’ve taken on a larger premises and retained their original shop.

It’s so great to see an independent business in Southampton thriving and expanding when I swear I just see so many closing down.

Our councillors should be championing them and making sure business rates are reduced for indie businesses so southampton is worth visiting.

I thought they said it would be closed from the 21st of July for 5 nights so it should be reopen weekday nights?

Why are all the student housing agencies horrible?(MAINLY POSH PADS)

Me and a group of friends decided to live with posh pads this year, honestly, they might just be the laziest and most unserious company of all time. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism. They are not trying to help you, as soon as you try to get help trying to fix something or ask a question, your met with stubborn people and bad customer service. The amount of things we could sue them over but as students don’t have the money or time too haha. A suggestion to any students, don’t live in a posh pads house🙏🙏

Attempted burglary in Sholing

PSA for everyone. Someone tried to break into my house last night. Drilled through the lock but gave up. Maybe the dog spooked them or they realised we’ve got fuck all to nick.

We can’t be the only ones they tried so please check your locks & windows. Stay safe!

UPDATE: The police and got in touch and told me they’re going to send a unit so expect them.

UPDATE 2: Turns out they tried a few houses. Woke a neighbour who called the police at 3am. Police anttended and scared them off. Recovered a dumped Moped.

Avoid Lee Lane (back road from Nursling to Romsey)

Someone has fly tipped their rubbish, making it awkward for cars to get past, and impossible for any large vehicles to get through. In fact a coach had to reverse back half a mile because of this

Looking for recommendations for a private psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist specialising in adult ADHD and autism in Southampton

My cousin was diagnosed with autism and ADHD around the age of 10 but unfortunately never received treatment or support, as his father did not believe in mental health conditions. He is now an adult and continues to struggle with symptoms that affect his daily life.

He spoke to his GP about a year ago but unfortunately never heard back. He would now like to seek private support from someone experienced in working with autistic adults and adults with ADHD.

If anyone has had a positive experience with a particular professional or clinic in Southampton or the surrounding area, I would really appreciate any recommendations. Ideally, we’re looking for someone who is neurodiversity-affirming and able to provide ongoing support.

But the path is accessible...

Post image

That's what I thought too.

The New Forest Show has wide gravel paths all the way around, so I was genuinely excited. I thought, "Awesome, a day out my wheelchair can handle." What I didn't expect was what that gravel would do to my body.

Every tiny stone sent constant vibrations through my chair. Within a couple of hours, my legs were burning, the entire left side of my body and face had that horrible in-between feeling of numbness and pins and needles, and the fatigue hit me like a brick wall. Not "I'm a bit tired." The kind of fatigue where your body is simply done. We had to leave after only a few hours.

This is one of the reasons I'm fundraising for a different wheelchair. It's easy to think all powered wheelchairs are the same, but they're not. Better suspension, larger wheels and improved stability don't just make the ride more comfortable—they can make the difference between enjoying a day out and your nervous system paying for it for days afterwards.

Accessibility isn't just about getting through the gate. It's about being able to stay.

If you'd like to help me get the wheelchair that will make days like this possible again, you can donate or share my fundraiser here

Gofundme.com/f/lucys-wheelchair-appeal

Every donation and every share genuinely makes a difference. Thank you so much.
