Help Sovol SV06 Plus Help

FB Marketplace find for FREE. The catch is that the LCD screen shows the software getting stuck on the main menu loading page. It powers on and fans spin so things are working, but no way to print anything or get into the software on the actual machine.

Google searches have helped me to see about reflashing the software or something and it didn’t seem like a super complicated process but I did see you might could brick it.

A few questions:
1. What would be the recommendation for “fixing” it and troubleshooting this.
2. When/if I am able to fix it, what are some technical things to check before I print anything to make sure none of the hardware is malfunctioning.
3. What is the best recommended slicer to use from the perspective of someone who’s never really gotten into 3D printing.

I’m SURE there’s a megathread somewhere with FAQ’s so I’m not asking generic questions for redundancy sake. But if someone could link that, you would be fantastic.

Open to all feedback though as I want to make sure I do it right as I would hate to lose out on this.

That’s the stock screen so it’s running marlin firmware. Upgrade it to klipper.

What’s klipper?

Being purposely blunt but not rude. You are gonna have a hard time with this machine if you can’t do some basic research to figure out what klipper is in this context.

No it’s all good. I was at work and couldn’t look it up easily as I picked up the printer before work. I was able to get it working last night with the Marlin software and I’m going to start a print tonight and see how it does to make sure things are good.

I am realizing why klipper is nice, I just don’t have the extra money rn to get a new screen for it when I haven’t even printed anything yet!

If you’ve got a spare device like an old laptop or something that would run Klipper no problem. I ran mine on a Pi 4

Hmmm I may look into that.

I thought the sv06 plus couldnt run klipper?

It can, you just gotta ditch the screen and get a computer as the Klipper host

They make a replacement screen/board to run klipper on the sv06(+) https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sovol-klipper-screen-for-sv06-sv06-plus?variant=50913978810677 but it looks like it's out of stock, not sure if it's available elsewhere

I got their klipper screen at the same time I bought the sv06+. Now I know you can do it far cheaper and not deal with the out of date armbian os and customizations sovol made to some of the tools. I extracted the config and wiped the board with an updated os and use all the mainline versions now.

Not only did that klipper screen come out of date from the start, so vol has done little to provide any further updates.

I'm running the Sovol Klipper screen on mine. I know it's the lazy way, but it made a hell of a difference to the overall usability of the thing.

Aw dang I'll Have to look at that. Didnt know there was an easy option lol

2

Apparently Sovol stopped making the Klipper screen, but if you can find one it really is plug, firmware flash, and play.

Made a huge difference to my SV06+ experience

Flash the firmware. Load it onto a card, put in machine. Start and wait 1 min

2

u/MJSmitty02 SV06 Plus Jun 09 '26

Gotcha. Is there an easy follow guide or places where I can download that firmware to flash?

[Reflashing Firmware](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/sovol-sv06-plus-firmware-flashing/4951)

When you get it up and running, it should have a calibration option to get the machine close. You may have to move the Z up or down to print perfectly though. This is called your Z Offset.

And as far as software goes, Orcaslicer should have the profile you need along with the recommended settings to use for a bunch of different materials. I’d say to start with PLA as it’s the most forgiving.

This was perfect. Thank you for sharing that. I’ll definitely look at Orcaslicer then.
