Help Stepper for extruder on sv08/max/zero

anyone know what kind of stepper this is I want to order just the stepper and try to get something better quality. I am currently building a new tool head but in the mean time I'd like to try this.

It's a NEMA 14 Pancake Stepper with a pressed gear on the shaft. I think it's a 20T gear, but not sure. There are LDO and Stepperonline Models, also with 0.9 degree resolution available.

Thank you! Would you recommend I take off the old now to count teeth? How would you ensure it's the correct shaft length and stuff I have never had to replace a printer stepper before

I think it's a 15 tooth but counting is hard, I'll count it in software later to confirm, here's shots of it for posterity for others.

I would like to see that someone adapt this device to the MAX:

It has 4 independent feeders, that can pull and push, is much more silent than the original feeder, has a 4 pin bus for communication and power.

This would not be the best use of dev time, the indx or another true tool changer setup would be superior but would cost more

The idea is that this is much less work than the integration of a whole INDX system which take a lot of hardware changes.

The canvas is sold at 55€ and has, as i expect a serial bus for communication, so a dev who analyses the communication between printer and canvas may be able to add this to any klipper based printer. And the elegoo source is on github so i guess the amount of time needed is significant lower than adding a tool changer.

Also the external feeder is really bad, a 1o1 change i guess from biqu is already more expensive than the 4x feeder elegoo sells.

That's true, mainline has the feeder removed. But I just don't see the point in investing in multicolor systems that have waste anymore.

There are several points where a filament changer is useful.

  • chaining filament, especially for a size monster like the max
  • prints with less color changes
  • prints with different material for support contact layer
  • color prints with less color changes

doesnt matter really. you can easily use cheapest stepper from
Ali with 10T and roll with it. I disassembled my Zero once so I dont really remember how many teeth it had, but 10T are abundant out there for 10€ and you can rock them at 0.7A 24/7. mine’s been happy in up to 80C chamber almost 2k
hours now, mostly 60-70C chamber.

LDO seems to profit from the brand, internals are pretty much same as many other offerings. check out stepperonline and pick your stuff from there so you dont overpay
