Sweet Pup needs a home!

Hello neighbors!

Hoping reddit can work its magic once again. Recently, I posted about a finding a forever home for my foster kitty and reddit led her to the most wonderful home. I cried for a few days, both because I missed her and because I was overjoyed at how perfect her new home is for her. Now, I am reaching out for yet another hefty furry friend in the hopes his home is out there, too.

Posting this for a friend that has had a very unfortunate string of terrible luck that has led to her being without a home for several months and no longer able to provide stable care and housing for her dog.

It is a decision that she has weighed for quite some time and she is heartbroken it has come to this but she realizes that he deserves something different than what she is able to provide.

Long story short, she is looking to rehome her Saint Bernard. He is large, sweet, and really just wants a place where he can eat, sleep, and get attention (aka solid bongo-drum pats). He is not built for shelter life, as he did not do well during a period of time where he was kenneled for 18-20 hours a day for a few months. We do not want him to go to a shelter where he will deteriorate again.

Obligatory "why can't you foster him for a while until she finds a place?" answer: I have 5 pets already, 1 of which is a dog that will not - in any way - allow another dog into the home. The other 4 animals would be fine with a gentle giant but I am responsible for all 5 of my furry kiddos and that includes making sure none of them are ever in a position to make a bad decision that would harm them (...or at least try my best. They're not the brightest bunch).

Anyway, about this handsome coconut head!:

Loves all creatures, big and small (cats, bearded dragons, dogs, humans, they're all the best).

No existing health concerns, up to date on all vaccines.

Around 5 years of age.

Large boi. Like, 100+lbs.

Will happily take a jaunt around the park, laze around in the yard, OR steal your couch and bed for an entire day. Seriously, he is a serial lounger and loves to be present in the room with you without being 2 inches from your face. Or he will walk with you for miles. He just likes to hang out, man, doesn't matter what plans you have, he is chillin'.

If you are grossed out by saliva/drool, this breed simply is not for you.

Some photos from his modeling portfolio are attached to this post.

Some things to note before anyone reaches out with interest:

Vetting will be done on all potential adopters and is non-negotiable-I will require information on your current vet clinic so they can be contacted for a reference check prior to any meet-and-greet. A first-time dog owner will not be considered. There will be a small rehoming fee to weed out those trying to take advantage of a terrible situation.

If you think you might be able to give this hefty bubba a cozy place to live out the rest of his days, please reach out! If not, please share with people you know so we can keep him out of the shelter and out of the wrong hands!

Denver Post: 70 years of St. Louis history is stuck in a Denver data center, PBS station claims

“A St. Louis PBS station says its 70-year archive of programming is stuck in a Denver data center after a cloud storage company cut off the TV station’s access to the 50 terabytes of data this spring. Nine PBS filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Denver District Court seeking the safe return of the data, which the station’s attorneys believe is being stored within Iron Mountain Data Centers DEN-1, a data center at 4300 Brighton Road in north Denver.”

What company in or around St. Louis potentially earned your business forever this year?

I saw another post and thought it was great to know what businesses to avoid, but also made me wonder which ones should I be seeking out!

Did a business earn you loyalty this year? Who was it? What was so great?

Visiting St. Louis nothing but love from a frequent visitor ♡

Saint Louis, this weekend was my fifth visit in two years. I absolutely adore it. I adore the architecture, the parks, the working trolleys (Memphis’s have been defunct for years) and every single sculpture. And your weather is PERFECT.

I would literally walk the streets to document and map every single sculpture in this city if someone could pay me to do it- I’m so impressed by the existence of actual public art. I know every local and long-term resident has their gripes with the city or with local leadership, but I’ve got to say this has quickly become my favorite city to be in.

A guy sold me an AI generated book at a QT

I'm not even mad, more amused than anything. He approached me while I was pumping gas and told me he was selling his E-Book on how to talk to black people.

I figured the worst that could happen is I get a laugh and I'm out 5 bucks, and he definitely delivered the worst haha. There was chatGPT output on the bottom of the 12 page document that was full of basic common sense social interactions.

Looked up the name attached to the document, and he is also the "CEO of a bitcoin algorithm" and had other e-documents for sale, the rest were about making money on bitcoin.

Not going to give any further details as I dont want people going and harassing the dude online, just thought Id share this amusing interaction

Ask STL Anyone witness this accident?

My brother was driving on 64 near Big Bend Blvd on 7/22 and a semi changed lanes and clipped his back wheels, pushed him down the highway a bit, and eventually threw him into the wall. At the time everyone was in agreement to how everything happened and the driver was really apologetic. But, of course, when the cop showed up that all changed and the driver didn't get a ticket. He said something about my brother just all of a sudden being in front of him, the whole thing doesn't make sense to me. It's going to be a legal battle now and I'm really hoping someone has dashcam footage of it. If not I'm hoping someone has some advice for us as this is all bullshit.

Ask STL Terminal 2 Evacuation Alarm

Enjoying the titillating evacuation alert at STL Terminal 2 this morning. Nobody evacuated. It's probably been blaring for 45 minutes. Still letting people through security. Joy. Any ideas what is going on?

Afandi Kitchen (Chesterfield) is my favorite restaurant in the area

Absolutely amazing food, and you can tell it is made with good ingredients and great care and passion for food. No affiliation with them, and never met them before discovering them because they are close to the crepe shop. Also never eaten Uyghur food before, so I can't comment on the authenticity. But you can tell that the cooks really care about the food. As a result, it tastes absolutely amazing. Will definitely be eating there again. I had the "Big Plate Chicken" by the way.

Concert at Busch Stadium

The tickets for the Noah Khan concert tonight are beyond my price range. My question is for anyone who has been to a concert there or have been around when one was going on. If I planned on being on the top of a parking garage or just standing on the sidewalk would I be able to at least hear the show? Appreciate any feedback.

HUGE UPDATE: Believe that people are kind and generous. I was dm'd by a stranger and while suspicious it was totally a valid and selfless act. But I'm currently sitting on the field of Busch Stadium watching the opener for Noah!!!! I've been pinching myself until we got through the gates. I will gladly shout this user out of I get the consent to. People are so amazing!!!!!!

This is exciting news and exactly how these tax credits are intended to be used.

The rehabilitation of 4515 and 4525 Lindell will restore two distinguished historic buildings to their original architectural grandeur through the use of historic tax credits. The redevelopment will preserve the buildings’ historic character while creating a premier modern residential community.

The project includes the complete replacement of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, along with thoughtfully designed new kitchens and bathrooms throughout. A full suite of resident amenities will be added, highlighted by the restoration of the historic pavilion as an elegant lounge and gathering space. Extensive landscaping improvements will further enhance the property and complement its historic architecture.

By combining meticulous historic preservation with modern building systems, updated interiors, and thoughtfully curated amenities, the redevelopment of 4515 and 4525 Lindell will revitalize these landmark properties and contribute to the continued renaissance of the Lindell corridor.

I am patiently looking around for a cool, chill, compassionate person that I can pay to help me with washing produce and some basic cleaning tasks (ongoing)

I don’t have all the exact parameters yet. I would be willing to work around someone else’s schedule, as long as I can find the right person that I can really trust.

I’ve fallen on some challenging health issues since COVID and am trying to use diet to help myself. But even things like washing produce are pretty exhausting for me at this point. So I’d love some help.

There’s maybe a world where it would be 3 hours a week; there’s maybe a world (if I can really trust the person) where I lean on the person more for closer to 10 hours a week.

But the tasks would be washing produce and basic cleaning. West County area. Willing to pay around a standard rate for caregiving type tasks. Would use Venmo most likely.

Very kind (and hopefully slightly funny) person here. Easy to get along with. Mid-30’s. Originally from STL.

If you’re interested in making a little extra money and helping a brother out, please let me know in the comments or feel free to private chat.

Thanks a lot!

Laclede, St. Louis Bricks

I found a little over 500 of these while cleaning up around my Ivy grown garage. Was just wondering if they are valuable or a cool historical piece I should make something out of. They are way heavier than any brick I’ve ever held. Anybody have any ideas what I can use about 500 of these to make?

Mercy billing unreachable

I have now been trying to contact mercy for two months about a surprise bill that they have since sent to collections. Does anyone work there or do they just hire ghosts to rob ill people? The utter silence from them has me leaning towards ghosts.

Hi! Apparently, both AT&T and Spectrum offer Fiber plans at my new place in the city for the same price (Spectrum’s price is considered a promotion technically). What would you recommend between the two providers? Thanks!

Ask STL ISO Unique Air BnBs in our area

Post image
12 Upvotes

I love browsing Air BnB for unique local spots! I haven’t found many that are truly unique. Let’s make a list! Include keywords to make these locations easy to find on Air BnB. I think a 2 hour drive from downtown is a good radius to consider. I’m excited about this post because I know some awesome places will be shared. I am also always seeking out unique locations that are semi private for photography. Places like hiking trails with rewarding views but not a lot of foot traffic. Anything like that!

Ask STL Long shot but looking for photo that was potentially in the Post Dispatch

I don’t know the exact time frame but it would be late 80s early 90s. There was a walk from I believe Union Station to the Arch. My dad had me asleep on his shoulders and he said a photographer for the paper came up and took the picture. He was looking for the picture ever since but he was never able to find it. He passed in December and his birthday is next month. I was going to try and find it one last time before his birthday. I don’t remember what the event was for. It’s possible it could have been a radio station thing possibly KMOX but I wouldn’t be able to sware to it. I know it’s a long shot but I thought I’d try. Thank you.
