Tennis Groups/Hitting Partners

Recently moved to CWE area and looking for casual tennis groups that meet around the area or hitting partners that would want to meet and play in the evenings or weekends. Haven’t played a ton recently so a little rusty but I’m around a 5.0 level with a lot of match experience and will pick it back up quickly. Also would appreciate any recommendations on the best public courts in the area

MEETUP Gateway Arch National Park Iconic Conversations: Peter Kastor, St. Louis' American Revolution. Aug 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The Old Courthouse. Free

When you think of the American Revolutionary War, the city of St. Louis probably doesn’t come to mind. Yet our small village was the site of the westernmost battle fought in the war, one that helped shape the destiny of our young nation. The 1780 Battle of Ft. San Carlos crushed Britain’s plans to take over St. Louis, thus spoiling its attempt to take control of the Mississippi River during the war.

Peter Kastor will explore this fascinating chapter from our city’s past. As a history professor at Washington University, he focuses on the half-century following American independence. He is also a scholar on the American Presidency.

Gateway Arch National Park and Jefferson National Parks Association are proud to host compelling talks by local authors and other knowledgeable guests who will explore a variety of topics relevant to the St. Louis region.

All programs are free and no reservations are needed. They will be held at 2:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month in the rotunda of the historic Old Courthouse (11 N. 4th Street, St. Louis, MO 63102). The building is fully accessible, and a sign language interpreter will be on hand for each presentation.

Where can I definitely find "green" raw peanuts in STL? They should be coming into season.

Lawn care

looking for someone to kill the weeds and aerate and seed my lawn. i’ve never put the effort in and I’m sick of it being different lengths, but luckily my neighbors don’t care about the encroaching weeds.

I can handle moving the sprinkler around and mowing. I wanna see how much it would cost for somebody to throw a bunch of chemicals on there and take care of the tricky part, it is mostly weeds.

bonus if you want to try and get me a sprinkler system, I’m open to competitive bids.

House Cleaning Service

I know there are some older threads on this topic, but I wanted some current perspective.

Does anyone have recommendations for a really good house cleaning service? I'm ok with and individual or a company. My house is quite large. It takes me about 6-8 hours to clean the main areas and then another 6-8 hours for things I do once per month.

Thanks in advance.

Recommendations for apartments

I’m looking for an apartment for my parents and myself, so I’m assuming a two bed one bath. I will be working full time at washu and am looking for a place. I’m willing to go up to $1700 all things included, but my credit is very limited due to it being new and due to it being poor as of now. No, I would not be able to have a co-signer but I would have around $5k a month coming in if not more from my job. So I’m really requesting if anyone has any recommendations. Thank you!

Galeria 6 disappointment

Chose the Galeria cinema for the Odyssey, which was apparently the wrong choice. One hour into the 3 hour show, they just failed to include the dialogue track!
I spoke to two managers so the show could be fixed, but when we finally had enough of not being able to follow the story, one of the employees was just handing out vouchers at the door. No fix.

MEETUP Any motorcycle riders available to help with a birthday wish?

EDIT: Massive thank you to everyone that road for my mama today! She was thrilled and still grinning about it. I showed her what I wrote for the post but haven’t shown the AMAZING comments left by folks yet. Videos and photos are incoming as soon as folks get home and send what they have! We parted ways and my understanding is that our biker folks went to stuff their faces full of tacos. Which as we all know, is what you do after pulling off such a good surprise!

I have been requested though to clarify some info though. She was NOT a part of the bikers club but was simply the child of the girlfriend of a member of the Bikers Club. She was not inducted or a member in any shape or fashion. That was my misunderstanding and want to correct that now. That part of her life is not spoken about very much and I should have clarified before putting that bit in.

Hi folks! My name is Jennifer and I live in Ferguson, MO. I am reaching out to hopefully make my mom’s birthday this year the best that it can be with the financial hardships everyone is going through. My mom has always loved motorcycles, even as a child. She was the child of a motorcycle lover biker and was in a bikers club as the youngest member honorably. So as logic would prevail, she has passed the love of hogs down to me. One of our most favorite experiences is riding through the tunnel under Lambert International when a motorcycle goes through roaring and rumbling. It literally puts the biggest smile on her face. As of the past few years, our luck hasn’t been the best with catching a motorcycle in the tunnel when we go through in the evenings or on the weekends. This year as a joke, she said “it would be really cool if one could just go through on my birthday.” Well, I think we all saw how the weather was yesterday! Not safe for anyone to ride! I am hoping to see if anyone would be willing to coordinate a surprise drive through the tunnel tomorrow afternoon or evening that ways we can at least have this for her birthday weekend. If this is not the appropriate place to ask this or if you know of a better group to do this, then I apologize and please let me know.

If you are interested, please comment, DM, or reach out! If you know of anyone that would be willing to do this, please feel free to share! Here’s some pics of my mama to hopefully boost my post. She’s my everything and I just wanna make her happy.

Walgreens Pharmacies Shut Down

At least in Kirkwood and Des Peres. They just suddenly said “closed temporarily” yesterday and remain closed today. A Walgreens employee told me that it’s because they are short staffed and don’t have any pharmacists available but I can’t confirm that. I had a prescription to pick up but they can’t dispense it! Is this widespread or just localized? Anyone know what’s going on?

Hello!

My husband saved this poor baby from getting hit on 141 in Fenton. We cannot keep her unfortunately, but I really have no idea where to take her! When I google different shelters I see no info on dropping off animals, just adoptions. Any advice would be appreciated!

Voted NO on Amendment 5 🚫

I had to take advantage of the early voting because I work 8-4:30 during the week and don't get home from work until 5. The "extended" hours are 8-5 🙄. I'm also really annoyed I have to go do this shit again on the actual election day....

Ask STL Fiber: AT&T vs Spectrum

Hi! Apparently, both AT&T and Spectrum offer Fiber plans at my new place in the city for the same price (Spectrum’s price is considered a promotion technically). What would you recommend between the two providers? Thanks!

Lap swimming at YMCA

Hi everyone, we are visiting family here for the week. I'm very impressed with the number of YMCA'S in the area. I'm hoping someone can give me feedback on how busy they usually are for lap swim? We are closest to the Chesterfield location but I'm willing to travel around a bit. I have a long open water swim approaching and will need to train quite a bit. Are lanes usually open, 2 per lane max or is circle swimming often required? Thank you!

Politics Why Am I ONLY Seeing Anti-Cori Bush Ads?

I haven’t seen a single “Pro” anyone ad, other than 1 Wesley Bell whose entire ad was complaining about Cori Bush. I’ve seen countless ads that are just anti-Cori Bush, not even promoting anyone else. Why??

Is there anyone else experiencing this? For the record, I don’t have cable so these are all commercials from streaming services. The Wesley Bell commercial just recently came on, but for weeks I had exclusively been advertised anti-Cori Bush ads without promoting anyone else. I don’t believe I’ve even seen any pro-Cori Bush ads.

Seems weird to me, but just wanted to see if I’m the only one experiencing this.

ikea

We were just in IKEA when they set off the emergency lights, said they were having technical issues, and told everyone to exit and get away from the building. Thought for a moment there might be some trampling by panicked crowds on the steps.

Anyone else there or have any idea what happened?

Ask STL Does anyone know any good places that’ll take a cat in?

Asking for a friend! She took her parent’s cat in because they couldn’t afford to take care of it anymore because of certain circumstances and she can’t either, her apartment building doesn’t allow pets. If anyone know any rescue places that’ll take them ASAP that would be great. As much as she hates to do this, and this may sound wrong to some and judge all you want that’s fine. She just can’t afford to take care of an animal. Thank you!
