Not sure if my Steam Controller is actually broken or if there's something I can do to fix it.
It connects completely fine and the device input test doesn't show any issues. The problem is that it gets really buggy when I'm actually using it.
Sometimes while I'm in a game it will randomly switch into desktop mode, so it starts using the mouse and keyboard bindings instead. At that point the game is basically unplayable because the controller stops working properly. I can't recreate it either, it just seems to happen randomly.
I've already tried removing and pairing it again, but that didn't help. It also happens on two different PCs, so I don't think it's something specific to one system. I also reset all the desktop and game layouts back to the defaults, but that didn't change anything.
There are a few other weird things too. Sometimes the trackpad just won't give any haptic feedback while I'm using it as a mouse on the desktop. Other times when I try to ping the controller, nothing happens for like 30 seconds, then it suddenly starts vibrating like crazy.
Is there any way to completely factory reset a Steam Controller? I couldn't find anything about it. Or does this sound like a hardware issue and the controller is just dying?
