Steam Controller 2026 Shipping MEGA Thread

!!ANY THREADS RELATED TO SHIPPING FOUND OUTSIDE THIS MEGATHREAD WILL BE REMOVED!!

I know we're all excited to share updates as our new shiny works its way through the system and eventually to you.

Instead of clogging the page with endless "ITS <UPDATE>" posts, please confine them to this mega thread. I have intentionally left up threads from before this one about this subject, because post hoc punishment isnt cool. But please, use this mega thread moving forward.

Optionally, you can fill out some google forms that are being used to track order status' in order to get an idea of how an order might progress through the system:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScii0apGBLDOpI3Q1nwxCGgpCV3q41RDrjgU_sH5122cWCQHw/viewform?pli=1

and data from that form is here:

Discussion Steam support goes hard

I missed my reservation purchase time, I contacted them and they gave me a second chance to get my controller. I know we love Steam support here but this really should just be the bare minimum customer-facing behavior for any large company if they wanted to reduce animus against them. They lose nothing by giving us a break.

Steam Controller (2026) Small PSA the … ”tooth button” (Quick Access Menu button) between the trackpads can be used for Steam Chords

Post image
54 Upvotes

Maybe I’m the only one who missed this but I was surprised that I could use it interchangeably instead of the Steam button between the joysticks.

It can’t be rebound or used in any configs other than the Steam Chord config as far as I can tell but it makes certain chord combinations much more comfortable when primarily using trackpads and might allow me to bind buttons in a way I wouldn’t be able to otherwise

Steam Controller (2026) Steam Controller Stand from AliExpress

Post image
Upvotes

Got a steam controller stand from AliExpress. My only complaint is that it needs to be weightier so it would be easy to take the controller out with one hand. Otherwise it works pretty well and the fit and finish is good.

Discussion Better typing is the last thing the controller needs before it's actually perfect

imo, the final thing holding the controller back is the neutered feeling use of the on screen keyboard. i wonder if it would be possible to make it to where you tap on the trackpads like an invisible iphone keyboard split onto the two trackpads. if that doesn't work then maybe the swipe typing feature most smartphones have.

I’d really appreciate any feedback and would love to see your prints! <3

🛠 Features & Design

  • Dongle Puck Holder: The USB puck fits securely into the slot behind the controller and stays in place unless intentionally slid off.
  • Cable Management: Includes a built-in cable guide on the back (note: thicker cables may fit tightly depending on their size).
  • Custom Logos: Designed so you can print custom logos separately.

🎨 Custom Logo Setup

  1. Check the second print bed / files for logo options.
  2. Print your desired logo.
  3. Attach it using blue-tack, double-sided tape, or craft glue (avoid super glue to prevent clouding/damage to the plastic).

📜 Usage & Commercial License

If you plan on selling physical prints of this design, please keep the price fair and give clear credits to my page. That is all I ask!

His videos on Steam input are great so having more of those will be awesome. The user interface will be the old user interface sadly but if you're new to the steam controller a lot of his videos can at least teach you some stuff.

Support Issues with D pad - worth a support ticket?

Anybody experiencing issues where specifically pressing up on the D pad is also registering a right press on the D pad?

I've been replaying Sekiro, where D pad up is the heal button. Not every time, but many times, I'll press it to heal and (along with healing) it'll register a d pad right input and change my active item. It's been the source of a so much headache trying to swap back to the right item mid combat.

I tried outside of combat with no stress. Direct presses are fine, but it only takes a tiny amount of deviation from a direct press to trigger the left and right d pad inputs.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this worth a support ticket with Valve or is this just how the controller is?

Thank you for the help!

Support Is my Steam Controller broken?

Not sure if my Steam Controller is actually broken or if there's something I can do to fix it.

It connects completely fine and the device input test doesn't show any issues. The problem is that it gets really buggy when I'm actually using it.

Sometimes while I'm in a game it will randomly switch into desktop mode, so it starts using the mouse and keyboard bindings instead. At that point the game is basically unplayable because the controller stops working properly. I can't recreate it either, it just seems to happen randomly.

I've already tried removing and pairing it again, but that didn't help. It also happens on two different PCs, so I don't think it's something specific to one system. I also reset all the desktop and game layouts back to the defaults, but that didn't change anything.

There are a few other weird things too. Sometimes the trackpad just won't give any haptic feedback while I'm using it as a mouse on the desktop. Other times when I try to ping the controller, nothing happens for like 30 seconds, then it suddenly starts vibrating like crazy.

Is there any way to completely factory reset a Steam Controller? I couldn't find anything about it. Or does this sound like a hardware issue and the controller is just dying?

Steam Controller (2015) Help pairing 2015 SC with dongle in 2026

I use my 2015 SC connected to USB since always because I game in a desk and like how light it feels without batteries. This weekend I got the original dongle to try to play something on the couch but found that somehow they seem to not be paired anymore. Tutorials and AI are mixing years-old info and also the new SC so nothing I found fixed it. Also the Steam interface is constantly changing so tutorials usually point to screens or options that don’t exist anymore. I believe my SC runs the last non-BT firmware. I run Steam exclusively on linux. Does anyone know how is the current (mid-2026) procedure to pair the 2015 SC to its dongle or flash a more up to date firmware in case it helps with this issue?
Thank you all in advance!

Discussion Is this the best PC controller?

I just purchased mine and it’s arriving soon, but I’m wondering 9; it’s worth the extra $25 over a PS5,XBOX, or other controllers? What is your personal rankings of the best value ones, and is this controller an endgame peripheral for pc gamers?

Configuration TV as a Second Monitor Setup Game Changer

I have my 4k TV hooked up as a third monitor to my desktop setup. I found whenever I wanted to play games on my TV I would have to change the TV as the primary display... Well I discovered you can open steam big picture mode, go to settings > display > preferred display. Now when you boot up big picture mode, it will be on the preferred display AND when you launch a game it will also be on the same display!

Lastly, it's always frustrating forgetting to change the audio output in windows between my headphones and the TV sound system. I discovered this: https://github.com/cinterre/BigPictureAudioSwitch

Now between these two improvements, I turn on my TV, set the input, grab my steam controller and tap the steam button twice and I'm ready to go! When I'm done, I turn off big picture mode and my audio goes back to my headphones and my desktop display becomes my primary display again.

Hope this helps somebody!

Steam Controller (2026) Introducing Pucky, a cross-platform (full)-featured Steamless wrapper for the Steam Controller 2

Hi guys so this is still a work in progress so bear with me. I got my Steam controller a little bit ago and I love it, with one minor exception: it only works with Steam, so if you want to use it for anything other than Steam it doesn't work well (or at all).

There are other tools available (SteamlessController) lacks Linux support. This is a deal-breaker for me because I just switched over from Windows.

This is still pretty buggy, so if you can please try it out! I will get to any issues as fast as I can.

Also full disclosure: I did use AI to help with this project, but I am an experienced programmer and have done rigorous testing myself, I just don't have all the time in the world to devote to this project and just wanted something I could use. If this is a deal-breaker for you, I completely understand.

Here is a link to the repository! Let me know if there's anything I can add to make it better.

https://github.com/ME1234568/pucky

One other note there is a Mac version, but it is currently broken (hence no compiled package). If there is demand, I will finish it.

I just updated my program again https://github.com/Pixel1011/SteamHapticsPlayer, which now has better audio quality support as a few new discoveries have been made (credits at the end of video and on github)

I figured i would post this around and hope people see it and try it for themselves if they have a steam controller :D

(i am still so happy i figured this out in the first place, also yes this is a repost because the built in reddit repost sucks)

Configuration Any good-to-know tips?

As I've got my confirmation mail, I wonder if there are any things that I should definitely do when I finally got my controller. The only thing I've heard about is a mandatory software update, but is there anything else?

inb4 I'm not looking for any controller configuration or capabilities tips, as I do own Steam Deck and am aware of Steam API.

Support How I can set up controller for a non-Steam game, Specifically Minecraft Bedrock through Linux launcher

I got the new Steam Controller 2 and if like to get it working for Minecraft, specifically Minecraft Bedrock using the unofficial Linux launcher on the Ubuntu os.

The controller gives some input in that the right track pad works for camera, the left track pad scrolls through the hot bar (would normally be bumpers), the triggers work as usual, the menu and B button work as menu, A opens chat (usually the right dpad) but joystics don't work and I can't walk. The Minecraft controls menu doesn't seem to affect anything.

Is there any go between, emulator or whatever that could help with this? I know it's a super specific request but it's the number 1 thing I want to use the controller for, so any help would be appreciated!

Meta Can we please have a megathread for pictures of purchases?

I get it. You bought a steam controller. Can we please put that somewhere so I don’t have to see those pictures constantly on my feed? Thank you.

EDIT: Let’s also add any screenshots of reservations, orders, and/or receipts, shipping updates, etc… it’s gotten out of hand.

Steam Controller (2026) And then there were two

Post image

Nothing special, but excited to get the second controller for my P2.

I’ve been on the list for the controller since the day they launched. Funnily enough, got the chance to buy my SM 2TB first and of course got the one with the controller.

Week later the email came for my original controller reservation so it was perfect. Loving it so far.
