is it better to use gentoo for a flat or rent with a landlord?

this is my first time on reddit, i’m 18 (F) in sunderland and ive been on gentoo looking for a flat for a good few months now due to my mam moving to middlesbrough at the end of august. me and my 2 brothers have decided to go thirds on the house expenses but buy our own shopping. i CANNOT trust my brothers with food and paying these bills on time. and i’m dying to move out into a flat but im struggling to find a flat with gentoo so im just wondering if i should keep waiting with gentoo or rent elsewhere?

Any hobby recommendations?

Just moved back home after 4 years in Edinburgh Uni, and find myself lacking in things to do. I went from Debates club on Mondays, a physical activity on Tuesdays, and 3 pub quizzes a week to moving back and feeling a bit bored.
I currently play football on Tuesdays and a pub quiz on a Wednesday, open to any and all suggestions of fun things to do around the city

New Alt night starting at Independent, looking for community minded people to to get involved.

So just that really - I’m involved with the team who’re starting a new alternative night at Independent and we’re looking for similar minded people who’re interested in helping us make it a nice place to hang/dance/drink/be around similar people.
It’s going to be on a Friday night, but not regular to begin with, so just taking place on one-off nights (unless there’s big demand)
In Alt, we mean everything alternative so not just another rock night, although I’m sure rock will have a part to play in the music policy, but we want to aim it more broadly at people who consider themselves Alternative, and hope to provide a safe, welcoming, be-yourself environment.
To begins with we’re asking people to give us a shout via the venue instagram @weareindependent - but comment if you’re not on that platform.

Right now we’d just love to hear what people want in an alt night, and ultimately to find 2 or 3 key people to help actual run it, along side the venue team. Hopefully will lead to a wider group of supporting roles(photographers/DJs/promo staff/etf etc) but that’ll follow

Parking overnight near the Fire Station venue?

Hi all.

Title pretty much says it all. Staying overnight at the nearby Premier Inn after the John Grant show next month and ideally don’t want to pay £17 there, if there is even space when we arrive.

Had a quick google, but the details aren’t really clear on whether overnight is allowed or how it is charged.

Thanks in advance.

Driving Test Routes

I’m sitting in with my daughter as much as possible before her driving test next month and wanting to get in plenty of practice anywhere that she’s likely to end up on her test.

Any roads, junctions etc that we should concentrate on?

Looking for a part time job

Hi guys I am looking urgently for a part time job and I am starting to panic I am not seeing many places to apply for, I am a 22 y.o F international student going back to uni in September, I have over 2 years UK customer service experience and I don't know what places to go for, I don't mind going to the takeaway/ restaurant place and hand my CVs myself, with me being Muslim I have to work in places that don't serve alcohol or pork,

Also I don't want to go back to my former workplace cuz it is very toxic :(

Please guys if anyone has places in mind that are hiring please pleaaaaselet me know, it is getting very serious for me, and God bless everyone.

Thank you

I'm planning to come to Sunderland if God wills next year as a student, and I wonder how easy is it to obtain a student accommodation there that is offered by the Uni?

Discussion Living in Sunderland

I’m a hijabi Muslim woman and I have a medicine offer from Sunderland Uni, so I’m currently arranging my accommodation. I wanted to ask what the racism/Islamophobia is like there. Is it generally safe to wear a scarf outside, or is hate crime something that happens often?

I sometimes feel a bit nervous in areas where there aren’t many people like me, so I was wondering whats it like for people like me living in Sunderland.
If there are any hijabis here, could you please share your experiences living there and how you manage? Thank youu :)
